asbm, it was interesting, as he says that he has taken my advice and is no longer a player! ie dumped all the other girls.

I am beginning to think he is just really crap at this dating malarky, and I have been maligning him unfairly

He really was very sweet, but I have left the ball in his court and if he does decide to play it could be fun.

I think I am just not used to someone going so slow! Impatient is my middle name.

Watch this space!

PS seeing skippy next friday for the 1st time

LouLovesAeroplaneJelly · 07/05/2009 11:21

Ok so now I have joined as as a way to avoid doing housework I am trawling the site. Do you often make the first move? What do you say? Oh this is sooo hard. How do you have the nerves to do this? Maybe I should not be doing this sober...although wine at 11:30 is not such a good idea I think.

aseriouslyblondemoment · 07/05/2009 11:27

what??
or has he just been rumbled by them all lol
at least you know what he's up to so can play him at his own game if you want to
and
you still have skippy to meet

OP posts:
aseriouslyblondemoment · 07/05/2009 11:30

llaj i think we all find it a valid excuse for avoiding the housework
must admit to rarely making the first move tho have done whilst under the influence lol

inthemistsoftime · 07/05/2009 11:35

asbm, its one of the reasons I love this thread, one always gets a different perspective

llaj, do what feels right for you, I personally dont approach anyone, but thats what works for me.

I have met 1 person from pof, which lasted about a month and I have 1 to meet next week.

I have realized that the more emailing, txting I do before I meet up the more relaxed I am about it, my advice is dont rush it.

aseriouslyblondemoment · 07/05/2009 11:40

itm??
you've just contradicted yourself there lol
but hey you're allowed as you're a woman, and not any woman either but a yummymummyone
indie is responding well to the treat em mean..treatment too you'll be glad to hear

ridingjoker · 07/05/2009 13:13

llaj - i do the approaching. you gotta do a bit of trawling to find some worth contacting though sometimes.

i usually comment on something on their profile. and make sure you ask a question whereby they have something to respond about.

even if you send a witty and interesting 1 liner. it helps them along a bit in what to reply if you pose a question.

LouLovesAeroplaneJelly · 07/05/2009 13:15

thanks for that. still trying to figure out the rules and regs for this.

lostinthecitylover · 07/05/2009 14:01

OMG have just received a contact on Friends Reunited from an old fb/flatmate (from 20 years ago) - we had a fb relationship, at first I wanted more he didn't then he ended up telling me he was in love with me but by then it was too late and I had moved on.

Life is strange. Doncha think!!

aseriouslyblondemoment · 07/05/2009 14:07

OMFG!!
how do you reply to that?

OP posts:
lostinthecitylover · 07/05/2009 14:32

well just sent him message asking how he was what was he up to and that sort of thing.

Only interested in him as friend/passing acquaintance.

lou33 · 07/05/2009 14:39

v has just informed me that he now CANT come to court with me as work have called an emergency meeting

sigh

and i have to cancel taking the kids away for half term as i cant afford it now with these court costs, so they hate me now

aseriouslyblondemoment · 07/05/2009 14:39

guess you're life is already complicated enough lol

Cor this thread moves fast!!!

Have been on GS for a while but without any success....think my main problem is location (ie I live in the back of beyond and if you saw secret millionare over the weekend you would know where).

BUT - I went out for a few quite drinks with friends on Saturday night and ended up in a nightclub (as you do). I meet a nice guy and he text me last night asking if I fancy meeting up again!!

lou33 · 07/05/2009 20:17

have managed to get a friend to come int he morning now, which is good

Remotew · 07/05/2009 21:06

Nutty, I've had a nose on POF, he looks and sounds good. Add him as a favourite, bless he isn't on anyones, maybe he hasn't been on the site long.

Martha, I know its grim up there but think the secret millionaire showed it in the worst possible light. Shame about GS thought it might have been a good site. I've has 5 messages from POF in one day, not answering any .

ITM, Marathon Man makes himself out to be soo innocent. Think you are right to use and abuse if you fancy the pants off him and he might just surprise you.

Lou hope everything goes well tommorrow. Glad you are giving your fb friend more time. Good location wise though.

SCL I often dream that some ex friend with benefits that I fell in love with years ago becomes single and finds me again. Go for it.

RJ are you saving yourself for Superman now or are you still looking?

ASBM of course you could give up sex. lol. Judging by my POF suitors it's not going to be difficult for me atm. Now the smoking is something else. Still nearly got through day 2.

Holly and Ninah hope you are OK. Also to the new Jelly, keep fishing.

Think I've remembered everyone. Apologies if not.

lou33 · 07/05/2009 21:27

thanks eve

yes the location is good

if i dont like him i can run round and hide out at v's place

ridingjoker · 07/05/2009 21:37

eve - been exclusive to superman for months now. but yes. even more so now i think. will see what happens when he's over in june. thats whole different kettle of fish due to my commitments here.

chancer · 07/05/2009 21:44

Hi,

hope you don't mind me gate crashing, but thought you could answer a question for me!

i have just joined pof, (with not a fantastic profile as I am no good at 'selling' myself and I haven't posted a picture as to be honest I don't have one on the computer of me yet)!

I have had a few responses but don't know what to do next. Two of them I really don't want to reply but that seems to be just rude & the other two I really don't know what to say!

Advice is welcome. By the way really not sure I am ready for dating but I can't bear to think of being on my own forever!

LouLovesAeroplaneJelly · 07/05/2009 21:47

I have not been here long enough (or had the energy to read all the past posts) but from what I have gathered in the past day or so...

nutty - I too had a sticky beak and he seems nice.

LITCL - sometimes old friends are the best. What can you lost by having a coffee?

Chancer - i have just joined too so can we be nervous together too?

I have had a few email me. Two seemed normal. One too old and the other just wierd.
Do you ignore the old ones or send them a nice note to say thanks but no thanks?

Remotew · 07/05/2009 21:50

Chancer, You will eventually develop a thick skin the longer you use the sites. It's not rude not to reply to men you know you won't fancy in a million years be compatable with. Think of it as doing them a favour by not wasting their time as well as your own.

To reply to anyone you do like just be honest and say you are new to it etc. Ask them a couple of questions and refer to their profile.

Good luck.

Remotew · 07/05/2009 21:53

Damn the strike out didn't work. I would ignore rather than say thanks but no thanks at least then they will feel less rejected. i.e you may have had too many messages being the hottie you are so couldn't reply to all the lovely men so time to move on and lower their standards.
