Who else would be up for an MN Lone Parent Festival camping trip? Or are Pillock and Ate just a little bit crazy ......

A torch. Something to put under the sleeping bag, like an air mattress. I've only camped in garden so far with dd 2 adn ds 5 -it was murder, especially as we are on a hill and rolled in the night. But I am over 40.

OverMyDeadBody · 20/07/2008 15:30

yes a torch is essential, how could I forget that! Air-beds, thermarests, blow-up mattresses are all optional extras that will give you are more comfortable might's sleep!

FAQ I think it would be possible if you're going to a group meet-up with lots of other MNers as we could share resources and possibly even have any MNers who lives near you come via yours to pick up luggage and or/kids for a lift there. Car sharing would be good wouldn't it! I bet it would be possible to arrange.

I go camping a lot with DS and don't have a car, I know obviously I can get away with a lot less stuff with just one DS in tow. How old are your DCs though and could they carry a fair amount of their pack by themselves?

davidtennantsmistress · 20/07/2008 15:35

FAQ - well I have a spare umbrella folded pushchair I can offer to bring, failing that it will only be DS & I so as long as you have car seats I have 2 spare seats in the back and one in the front going begging - or space in the boot??

a MN camping meetup - sounds fab.

Mhamai · 20/07/2008 15:47

Has a location been decided? For once I assume it's safe to say that it won't be in London

piratecat · 20/07/2008 17:38

sounds great, can i join too?

I am in the west country.

FAQ · 20/07/2008 17:59

DS's would be 8, 5 and just turned 2 next summer.

So DS1 could probably carry some of his stuff, DS2 would probably struggle - and DS3 - well obviously not LOL.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 20/07/2008 18:12

Ok, so do we want to think about a camping trip in October half term as a sort of practice run in the rain indian summer we're bound to have?

OP posts:
piratecat · 20/07/2008 18:14

half term starts oct mon 27th here.

i know it varies over the country.

i think it will be bleak!

I wil def be up for the real thing tho

charliecat · 20/07/2008 18:14

Yep sounds fab.

ninah · 20/07/2008 18:16

brrrrr will wait til the summer

PillockOfTheCommunity · 20/07/2008 18:25

Summer it is then

My dad has a tent with sleeping compartments that I will borrow and ds1 already has a sleeping bag. ds2 will need a straightjacket Grobag I think.

It's quite exciting isn't it!

We need some idea of where everyone is and whether they have a car or are relying on public transport ideally, so that we can think around that.

Do you all want to email me? This is my email I give out online, then I'll email you from my proper one!
