Can I ask, what length of time it was between splitting with X and meeting someone else ?

6 months between splitting from exH and having a no-strings fling. Lasted two months till he got clingy and possesive so I ended it. Then I think a couple of months btween other flings, then had a bf for 9 months, been single for about five months now...

Took me a while to trust anyone enough to get close to them and have anything more than a sex-only relationship, even now I am wary of trusting them so would rather keep my distance and 'use' them (I am homest though and never pretent it is naything other than this). I'm very cautious now about potentially gettting hurt again

please dont pressure yourself into finding someone straight away, you may not be ready (like me!) and you will feel so frustrated if you dont meet someone quickly.

I spilt with ex H 17 months back, but we lived in the same house for nearly a year after that, so have only been properly apart for 6 months.

I started dating my new man at the end of August. I met him out last Christmas, but said I wouldn't meet up all the time ex H & I were still living in the same house.

When I moved, I needed a bit of time to adjust to the new situation. After around 6 weeks, I text this chap my new mobile number, and we had a little bit of text contact, which was just friendly stuff, and then at the end of August he text to ask if I fancied going out for a drink with him.
I wasn't sure at first, but then thought it would be harmless to go for a drink, and might be nice to have some male company.

I was quite wobbly about it all at first, and scared of it developing into a relationship, as I felt it was too soon, but I got over that by date 4, and I'm still with him now!

I am pleased that I agreed to that drink now, as new man is lovely!

Was with x 9 years and was asked on a date 4 days post split! First proper relationship was 5 months later that lasted 5 months and then I had a couple of flings until I met dh 7 months later - Met dh 16 months post ex and had lots of fun in between!

Online dating couple of months, too soon for me I think, but had to be done so I didnt feel left on the shelf.
6 months on and I still dont feel I could have a serious steady relationship with anyone...Im a unstable mess really, with a pretend "keeping it together" surface.

Can't reply properly as xp is here but so far no one has posted saying that the gap was larger than mine, which is currently 2 yrs next Feb.

Haven't even had an admiring glance, nevermind a date or relationship.

Think I might just give up, perhaps xp was all i was ever gonna get.

You dont go out enough nutty, we all know that. Though it would be NICE if Mr Right was the postman, the cahnces are hes not gonna waltz up to your door.

My husband and i split up about 18 months ago i had a fair few one night stands which im not proud of but met my current partner 11 months ago. He was a one night stand that i fell in love with and luckily he felt the same. No one looked twice at me when i was still married but i got alot of attention when we split and still do i think its because i go out alot more and am happy and confident. I enjoyed the attention to much at first and made a prat of myself though!

I have been apart from ds1's dad for about 3 years. In that time had two crap relationships, first lasted 2 months, realised he was a nutter, second a year later lasted 8 months and he was a nutter as well. I left him a year ago this month (hooray!!) and have since had a baby whom he hasn't seen. I'm in love now but probably not going to get the one I want. I am far too scared to go out with a stranger as even the ones you think you know can turn out to be horrible

Oh dear I sound really cynical, sorry! First one was the ex of one of my friends (she was happy about it) and I thought he must be fine as she had been with him 4 years. It wasn't the case...he was her ex for a reason, and I guess she was Ok about it for the same reason!!! That'll teach me.

The second one I knew from a few years back, just spoke in the street etc. but suddenly he got keen, I don't know why, and it was pretty good for the first few months, then he got controlling, abusive etc. I guess there was a reason he was still single at 40.

I'm 34 now so much older than many of you lot. Try not to worry. There have to be some nice ones out there, surely...! I have terrible judgment. I wish we had arranged marriages in our family...seriously I need help!!

Split form Exh in Nov 04. Started on line dating in may/jun 05. Went on a few dates just to dip my toe in the water. Met DH on line dating Oct 05. Married him Sept 06 and baby due anyday now.

Had to be brave and try on line dating as I had no idea how to meet men otherwise. Other than married ones at work who are always happy to sh*g.

I met my partner at the pub where he was the dj, i thought he was gorgeous but he never seemed to notice me - i know now that he did but was shy! We went for a curry as a group and at the end of the nights we were the only ones left and the rest is history!

H and I been on off since last June...finally chucked him out last Nov....got pregnant (by him)...and due Dec ...so not really ready for dating yet ..and getting very used to my own company indeed (and my rabbit )...would have to be very special man indeed..no hurry here TBH
