I didn't fancy my date at all when I met him and carried my bag with both hands so he couldn't hold my hand.

Fast forward 11.5 years and we have been married for 8 years and have 3 lovely kids.

JeremyVile · 27/08/2007 17:53

I think there is nothing wrong with going but expecting nothing to come of it - dates aren't guaranteed and it will be good practice.

You never know, you might just click with him!

Btw - what do you mean when you say he's a man of plenty of fish? Is that a colloquialism for rich?

allgonebellyup · 27/08/2007 17:58

plenty of fish is a dating site, lol

mojosmum · 27/08/2007 17:59

no its a dating site that alot of us singles on mn have signed up to [see plentyoffish thread]

mojosmum · 27/08/2007 18:01

jeremyvile - im abit thick are you saying thats what happened to you ie married 3kids with the man you wouldnt hold hands with?

OP posts:
JeremyVile · 27/08/2007 18:01

Aaaahhhh......

That makes much more sense

JeremyVile · 27/08/2007 18:02

That wasn't me it was NAB3, but yes, I think that is what she means.

nutcracker · 27/08/2007 18:02

Tbh if i didn't fancy him at all then I'd not see the point of going on the date, but thats just me, which is probably why I am still single lol.

mojosmum · 27/08/2007 18:03

sorry mean nabs not jeremyvile sorry see im so thick

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 27/08/2007 18:05

I don't think I could go out with someone I didn't fancy..though chance seems remote lol

mojosmum · 27/08/2007 18:05

nutcracker - the men that i usually fancy from looks usually are arseholes that treat women like crap & im looking for someone the total oposite to that

OP posts:
mojosmum · 27/08/2007 18:06

his pic isnt very clear & im hoping he looks better in real than on pic as i look horridle on pics but half decent face to face

Pinkchampagne · 27/08/2007 18:11

I was going to ask what "plenty of fish" was too!

It might be nice for you to go on the date & meet him. Nothing has to come of it, just look at it as a night out with a bit of male company. you never know, you may like him more than you expect to!

nutcracker · 27/08/2007 18:13

I know what you mean mojosmum.

I didn't fancy xp at all though and I was with him for 10 years, so it is important to me that I at least fancy my next bloke a little bit.

Mind you, that said, by the time I get offered a date i will probably accept anything lol.

NAB3 · 27/08/2007 18:14

My point was , don't be put up by initial impressions. We had a great day together and got on really well. Fancying came soon after..

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 27/08/2007 18:30

I met my last boyfriend on a dating site. His photo was awful, but his e-mails made me laugh so much I went to meet him anyway. And was soo glad I did - turned out to be the love of my life. Go on, take a chance!

mojosmum · 27/08/2007 18:37

well i dont think a 1st date will hurt its not like im saying i will spend the rest of my life with him

OP posts:
Pinkchampagne · 27/08/2007 18:37

Exactually, mojosmum!

mojosmum · 27/08/2007 18:38

OP posts:
Pinkchampagne · 27/08/2007 18:41

You may have a really good night!

I used to be too fussy about looks, but a lot of the men I was physically attracted to turned out to be the biggest bastards!

mojosmum · 27/08/2007 18:44

pinkchampagne - thats exactley what i mean i want i nice man not an arsehole

OP posts:
TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 27/08/2007 18:45

Echo PinkChampagne about the best looking ones being the biggest scumbags. They have less to lose.

I think nerves are inevitable, unfortunately. Have drink first & go with the flow.

NKF · 27/08/2007 18:45

It's just a date. It doesn't have to be true love. Just a drink and dinner if he's interesting.

NKF · 27/08/2007 18:46

And many people look awful in their pic.
