I am waiting to hear from someone I like (& he clearly likes me too). It's driving me nuts.

I have a date not this week but i think the next.

I am actually quite excited about it, i have been talking to this guy for ages now like 9 months or something.

I have a date on saturday and wish I didn't.

No i dont, i started speaking to him after i split with my ex and i wasnt ready for anything so it kind of fizzled out and we started speaking again and i am alot happier now and more ready for things to progress.

We have been speaking for hours on msn and had a few more conversations now and he is away for work and then on holiday with his daughter then we shall meet.

He doesnt ever chase ladies and he doesnt drink alot when he does go out. Sounds perfect so far.

I had a great date last Saturday/Sunday and we're meeting up again tonight to go to the theatre. She already had tickets. I'm quite excited about the chance to get dressed up and flirt. We've been in touch all the time since Sunday by text and spoken everyday. It feels good, I'm very happy after being single for quite a while. It does mean that I'm not getting as much work done because I'm constantly emailing friends worrying about what to wear tonight!

Jellyjelly & Elizaveta - Woo-hoo! Can empathise with the not getting any work done,I can't seem to concentrate on anything at the moment and am obsessively checking my e-mail like a teenager

i have had a few dates, all dull, some bloke wants me to go out with him next week but i'm not that fussed right now tbh

Yes, me too with the compulsive email checking. But it is fun and after the hard work of being a single parent we do deserve to have a bit of fun now and then.

How did you meet the person you're waiting to hear from?

He is the brother of the partner of the mother one of DD's schoolfriends (how tenuous is that?)

Met at his brother's birthday party. He lives around the corner from me & TBH I've rather fancied him from afar for a while. We now keep "bumping into each other" (though how accidental these meeting are is debatable...). He walked me home on Saturday evening (after "turning up" at the friends house where I was), and sat on my sofa drinking tea until 2am.

I think that's really lovely that it can still happen like that. I have had lots of attempted "we'll fix you up with so and so's friend" but they've never worked out. Then I get told I'm picky - of course I am!

I had to resort to the internet to meet my date tonight. Not ideal but I work in a male dominated profession and I'm gay. The odds of meeting someone at work, where I spend most of my time, were never going to be good!

Here here to being picky! Are single parents meant to accept whatever sloppy seconds are available? Some of my married friends seem to think so!

I think there's a lot to be said for the internet - I met the love of my life online (didn't work out unfortunately, worst case of commitmentphobia I've ever encountered, but we are still very good friends). Really glad to hear you met someone lovely, I hope it works out well for you

I'm naturally sceptical but things are going better than I would have expected after only 2 dates! Early days and whatnot. Totally agree that we have as much right to be picky as anyone else!

The only thing I've found in internet dating is it is too easy to meet people who live too far away. I was quite adamant that I wanted someone local so that all the normal things could happen rather than it being about always arranging, travelling and planning. Life is so much easier.

When can we expect you to get out on a date with him then??!

Well, we talked on Saturday about going out for lunch or coffee soon & I gave him my e-mail addrees. We had another "chance" (ahem) meeting in the street yesterday. I was with DD, so just had a brief small talk & as we left he said "I'll e-mail you".

So I don't know when, but I will report back!

Ohhh, that is the exciting part. Waiting for the email to arrive. Enjoy it! I better go and do some work and try to think less about tonight!

Am trying to enjoy it but finding it incredibly frustrating too - what if he doesn't get in touch etc etc... argh!

Septimus - I've been msning this bloke, and he sounds intelligent and probably fun, but I'm just not in the mood really. Still a bit not over the last one probably. But don't want to turn down someone who might have potential - but he seems uber-intelligent and a bit prickly, and I can't say I'm all that into it really.

Definitely agree with the distance thing re online dating, that was the main problem with my last one - him Suffolk, me Kent.

After the last false start, I have given up on dating completely! I can't seem to get interested enough in anyone and then it all starts to feel like a big hassle after the first couple of dates.

But your situation sounds fun, Septimus - I haven't met anyone who makes me for years...

I go through phases of getting dates then i cant be bothered. I met him on a dating site for parents. He was the first guy i contacted and one of the only ones that i feel i can talk to.

He is also ready for something, it does sound very good.
