As main carer how much maintenance do you receive for one child?

Just that really. My ex is messing about with money and we're already on the breadline. I'm wondering how much other main carers get on the whole?

I know about the government calculator etc but would be good to get a general idea other then that.

I've got one dc.

I get £400 per month for 2 children. Ex has them every other weekend and some days in the school holidays. He moans it's too much.....I don't know how much he earns however I think he would have to pay more if I went to csa.....

Also lives at home with his mum and dad and pays nothing towards his keep...not a single penny.......His mum does all his washing/cooking....and my children's when they are there....Hmm

rewritethestars · 05/02/2018 07:59

£7 a week and doesn’t see the children.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 05/02/2018 07:59

My DH gets a grant total of £0 for my DSC from their 'D'M

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 05/02/2018 07:59

*grand total.

Oh and she earns a significant amount, as does her new DH.

CollyWombles · 05/02/2018 08:03

ExH pays £81 a week for four children and complains about how stressed he is about it. He didn't pay anything for seven years, saying 'the government pays for the kids'.

I asked him to pay half of my daughters £250 school trip. He said to take it out of his CMS Grin

CollyWombles · 05/02/2018 08:04

Oh and he doesn't see the children currently.

Doctordid · 05/02/2018 08:06

Another one with zero.

roastandyorkies · 05/02/2018 09:48

Nothing. Because I get £80 child benefit that covers it all apparently Hmm

Raisinbrain · 05/02/2018 09:53

Zilch. Nothing.

Kim82 · 05/02/2018 09:59

I get £40 per week for two children. Dd hasn’t been to his house for over a year, ds goes at least once a week. I have to ask him for the money most weeks or else he won’t pay it.

bitzy12 · 05/02/2018 10:00

There really are some massive twats of 'fathers' out there.....

NewtScamandersNaughtyNiffler · 05/02/2018 10:03

£0 for 2 children. As assessed by CMS Hmm

Rainboho · 05/02/2018 17:44

the government pays for the kids

There really must be a script! They all say shit like this!

Lightattheendofthetunnel1 · 16/02/2018 00:26

My ex these past two weeks (I left him in 1st Dec) has given me £50 a week for 3 children. At very max over last 10 weeks, 1 night sometimes 2 but rare overnights. He earned £34k last year. £25k basic.

Confuzzlediddled · 16/02/2018 00:30

I get £40 a week for 2 children, only because the Csa made a deduction of earnings after he failed to pay. Unfortunately I now need to open a new case with CMS and he has to be "given the chance" to pay directly (again!) so I anticipate it'll be a long time before I get more after the current order stops in April.

Blushingm · 09/03/2018 08:12

£64 a week for 2 children - ex earns £420 a week

Bobby1233 · 21/03/2018 15:29

I pay £400 a month even though its 50/50 split time but "lives with mother"
I paid for ex and childs holiday last year but she says Im not allowed to take child abroad.
I bought her a £700 phone before we split but she doesnt have space for a co-parenting app.
Ive had to pay £3100 in over claimed tax credits that she left me with.
I provide a home for my child and complete clothes/food/toys/childminder for the days shes with me, the works, I do it with no benefits or support at all.
Although child is with me half the time ex is going to court to reduce to every other weekend, her reason: "youre disruptive to childs routine before school starts September"
The current legal bill is £12,800, and little does ex know Im broke and Ill be homeless soon and when I lose my daughter its all over.

Despite the fact I drive a 15 year old car and buy clothes at Asda she still seems to think Im rich and should pay more more more.

Trust me, there are two sides to every story!

Jasmineandsunshine · 21/03/2018 15:29

£50 a week for 3 children. He has them overnight one night a week which mysteriously started when I went to cms.

Apparently I'm greedy, a golddigger, unreasonable, I have no boundries, I have enough money because I get the "luxury" of tax credits on top of my wage etc.
Go thorough cms its so much easier. Don't be drawn into any discussion, answer with, 'it's the legal minimum the government expects you to contribute to your children's living costs' or 'the cms are dealing with it, talk to them' and repeat as appropriate.

Neweternal · 21/03/2018 15:46

£350 for one child, DS never met Dad and he is ten. Stays less than a mile away and his only child.

DontDIY · 21/03/2018 18:33

Bobby what do you mean “it’s all over” when you lose your daughter??

Don’t let your ex do this to you or your DC!

Lightattheendofthetunnel1 · 21/03/2018 23:28

Jasmine, if you don't mind me asking how much does you ex earn? I'm in the same position as you with 3 kids, £50 a week. Not through cms. He has said all the same about me too 🙄

Whitelisbon · 21/03/2018 23:44

£250 a month, £40ish of which is arrears which will take him until he's about 90 to pay off for 2 kids, he's had no contact for about 9 years now.
I only get maintenance as cms have a wage arrestment set up, he doesn't bother paying, or contacting them, otherwise.

starryeyed19 · 22/03/2018 00:04

My ex will sometimes take the kids out for chips and will buy our DD stuff like earrings and nail polish. He used to sometimes buy food. Regular money is not a thing though. He is on benefits so I think he would only be due to pay £7 per week anyway.

It's such a shitty situation to be in. Arguing over money for a child/children you are both responsible for. The sheer cheek of some people is utterly breathtaking

Jasmineandsunshine · 22/03/2018 12:26

light I'm not entirely sure because the cms handled it plus he has a child from another relationship that he pays for so the percentage of his wage he has to pay is divided by 4 kids, then my share has a reduction for the overnights but I think around £450 a week gross.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 22/03/2018 12:32

Mine went up to £390 at annual review with CMS, got a text yesterday says it is being reduced to £220 a month as ex h put in a mandatory reconsideration with his latest tax return from January.
This is for 4 teenagers.
Disgusting tbh, him and his partner are currently buying a house together as well.
