Poll - child maintenance - how much do you get?

I have had a disagreement with my ex about how much he should pay since we split 10 year ago. He currently pays £250pm. I have two teenage boys aged 14 and 16 who are both still in education. They live with me most of the time and visit him on alternate weekends. I cover all the costs of clothes, hobbies, school trips etc. He pays child maintenance and covers the cost of food/clothes for when they are at his every other weekend. He has a good job and is probably earning £40k plus but he now has a new wife and has had two more children.

I am interested in how much child maintenance is considered reasonable? How much do people think it costs monthly to bring up two children? All I want is for him to share this cost equally.

I appreciate people taking the time to respond.

£29 per week for 1 dc. Which isn't even enough to cover one full day's childcare Angry

So after 15 months of no maintenance (£77 for 3 months before that from his benefit despite working). I finally got 1 month via deduction of earning. What a surprise, he quit his job and blamed me for not allowing him to work cause he can't afford to now liveAngry. He was working part time for some reason despite his company advertising for full time workers. CMS yet again are bloody useless and let them get away with despite me giving them evidence as to why he has packed in the job. When are they actually going to sort out the men/women who do this. Let's become like America and out them prison/take driving license, do something instead of letting them get away with it. Grrrhhhhh

I can't see why his new gf thinks a fecless father is such a good catch
Hmm

I was getting £150 per month for 2 kids but he's raised it to £300 under threat to enforce the CMS amount which would be £400.

I get £250 per month for DD.
Childcare costs £300...
I pay for everything.

£28pcm, was £200pcm for 4 years. Ex has recently become self-employed and has a new DC on the way. DS and I are so very lucky Hmm

£0 - XH works for a company abroad so apparently nothing can be deducted through CMS. The fact that he earns about £100k pa through this company means nothing.

Agree it should be like USA. Shouldn't be up to the RP to have to pursue this, pay to take them to court etc and just manage on thin air in the hope that they might get something. Should be a legal obligation to support your children.

Zero! For 3 kids.

ilovewelshrarebit123 · 28/05/2017 15:12

I get £410 a month for one child. He also contributes to dance uniform etc when I ask.

He also has DD during hols for a couple of weeks. No childcare though as I work term time only.

I really feel for those of you who get nothing or the bare minimum. I couldn't cope without CM.

Thebearsbunny · 28/05/2017 15:25

Zero for 15 year old DS. He takes him out for a meal once every couple of months. He has never contributed towards clothing, school trips etc. In fact when we separated I had to give my ex cash otherwise he refused to see him. He will promise the earth and then announce he has lost his job/contract has ended. He now occasionally gives him pocket money, approx £20 pm.
