Obviously a lone parent and on those days where your child does something amazing and you have no one to say 'look what he did!'
Well, my DS who is 3 in a few weeks has a speech delay and today he said a whole sentence!!! I was so proud of him.
Unfortunately he yelled 'oh my god, cake!' at the sight of a birthday cake in a shop, but it was a sentence!! Will work on the rest! Wink
Just wanted to share. Smile

That is a great sentence! He has got the right priorities already.

SilverBirchWithout · 17/03/2016 22:04

It's a great first sentence. Something tells me his DM has been known to say something similar Smile

Well done young Vonnie.

NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 17/03/2016 22:06

That's so lovely - really made me smile. Cake

DancingDinosaur · 17/03/2016 22:11

Thats fab. My ds had speech delay too, and his first words were 'mmmm, chocolate', at age 3, when he went on an Easter egg hunt. I sense a theme here. Well done to little Vonnie.

Kewcumber · 17/03/2016 22:13

Thats the best first sentence I think I've ever heard.

purplepandas · 17/03/2016 22:15

Love the sentence and what a fab achievement. 🎂

megletthesecond · 17/03/2016 22:17

That's an awesome sentence! Here's to the first of many.

Vonnie2016 · 17/03/2016 22:17

Ah thanks everyone! I was so proud not only that he spoke but he is definitely my son in his love of cake! I have a feeling that sentence may have slipped out of my mouth on more than occasion while in the supermarket!!! Grin
And yes I am going back to purchase said cake in time for his birthday! Can't wait.

'oh my god, cake! I would have thought this would be a very good reason to ask Mary Berry around to bake you and DS one of her amazingly complicated Easter cakes she showed on her programme last night. Well it has a religious link.

Vonnie2016 · 17/03/2016 22:20

I like that idea!

YoScience · 17/03/2016 22:20

Lovely news and good to share. He's a young man after my own heart. I didn't have Guinness muffin for breakfast today oh no

Vonnie2016 · 17/03/2016 22:28

Guinness muffins! Where have they been all my life?

MooningIntoTheAbyss · 17/03/2016 22:39

A whole sentence and a little lad with his priorities all set out correctly.
I myself enjoy a good 'cake' exclamation daily from time to time ;)

So glad you can share here. I am just entering the lone parent world and this is part of what scares me, no one to share the ups and downs with!
Thanks

cbigs · 17/03/2016 22:44

Awe yay!! Best post so far . SmileGrinfan op . What a little star ! Xx

Vonnie2016 · 17/03/2016 22:47

Hi Mooning it is a daughting prospect, I am less than a year in.
But I tell you what its the highs where you get to say to yourself, I helped do that.
And the lows where you have a cuppa and just breath.
And if on the days where neither of those things are enough, the support from these threads are just amazing.
It's the hardest thing I have ever done, but also so rewarding.
You will be fine.FlowersCake
