Happy New Year and Happy New Thread to all the single parents looking for a place to rant, rave, moan, share the highs and the lows and chat with people that know! It is the second thread and probably a slow one if the first is anything to go by, but it's here when we need it.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ittooshallpass · 24/02/2016 20:40

I only managed to get 2 days off work, so not enough time to get to the fed up of each other stage. I never know if that's good or bad! I HATE having to put DD into holiday clubs. It seems so unfair to drag her out of bed for a 7.30am drop off when she really needs some sleep and down time.
Good job we didn't get given a half term project to do by school... when will teachers get it onto their thick heads that single mums have to juggle A LOT during school holidays so the last thing we need is a stupid buddy holiday project to do!
Rant over.
We survived half term... but I had to keep off FB where all the loved up SAHMs were enjoying days out with their kids, grrr... (me, jealous?!)

Solo · 25/02/2016 00:10

Checking in too! Sorry I've not been on much; too knackered really!

Sorry I'm still about too . Just about survived half term and back to busy times this week and dealing with annoying ex ... Same old same old

changeoflife · 26/02/2016 20:45

I'm still here too. Had half term off as I work in a school but back this week and it's been exhausting! Can barely keep my eyes open tonight. Has everyone got busy weekends? I have, although seems mostly just taxi - ing my children from one thing to another!!

megletthesecond · 26/02/2016 22:23

change just one bit of taxi-ing but I can loop in a quick supermarket visit and maybe the tip at the same time. So livin' the dream really Grin .

skat73 · 27/02/2016 18:30

Is it too early for wine ? X

changeoflife · 27/02/2016 19:53

It's never too early for wine! I poured a glass at 5pm Blush

ittooshallpass · 27/02/2016 20:43

Why did no one tell me the bar was open 🍸

megletthesecond · 28/02/2016 18:15

I can't drink wine anymore . Even a drop makes me poorly these days.

I live for supper and pudding. I bought myself a mini egg easter egg the other day and scoffed it without the dc's knowing it even existed Grin.

Oldladyfish · 28/02/2016 19:24

Mmmm... mini-eggs.... tragically, last night, i ate the mother's day gift i'd bought for my own mum. It was delicious. She would have loved it. Oh well. Maybe i'll buy another (and maybe a spare, just in case!)

ittooshallpass · 28/02/2016 21:56

Lol... what was it?

Oldladyfish · 29/02/2016 19:29

these really amazing florentines from M and S... instead she's now getting some home-made 'flowers' from my DD and some random books from me. I decided to ditch buying more chocolate as i clear have no willpower.

megletthesecond · 29/02/2016 21:28

old I nearly bought my first florentines the other week. I'm going to have to buy some now.

warmleatherette · 01/03/2016 10:02

meglet you could try organic, low or no-sulphur wine? I can't drink the normal stuff but as long as I stick to organic I am fine.

Very important stuff, wine. Very important.

Flowerpower41 · 03/03/2016 09:13

When ds was younger I needed wine here and there but now he is older it isn't a need any longer!

He is nearly 11. Of course he isn't perfect but it isn't as crippling as when he was younger.

Then again I have only the one child, now if I had two I would probably be on the bottle every night .....

Solo · 04/03/2016 00:25

Oooh! Yes. I used to not be able to drink red wine as it gave me the trots almost immediately then I bought an organic red and never looked back...then I could drink any red wine at all Grin now though, I rarely drink anything at all as I have to really be in the mood to have one :)

OP posts:
megletthesecond · 04/03/2016 21:31

I shall investigate organic wine. I've really missed winter bowls of pasta without a small glass of red.

megletthesecond · 06/03/2016 11:08

Happy mothers day!

We're off to the tip Grin. I've got a battered tv unit that I simply can't bear to look at any longer.

Solo · 07/03/2016 01:14

Hi all, hi meglet :) Hope you've all had a great Mother's Day! I got cards!!! I actually got cards :) and a bar of chocolate from Ds that wasn't half eaten (he's nearly 18!) and a smaller teapot from Dd (I chose it in charity shop).

Catch up soon.

Does anyone feel like they overstock / hoard things like food and medicine just in case ?

Because I know I can't get out if we're ill I always have to have sufficient everything in the house. As a result I never go to have a good clear out. that's my excuse anyway

skat73 · 08/03/2016 19:28

Yes I definitely stock pile for same reason it's knowing j have what I need just in case I can't get out. Stupid really as I have friends who would happily nip to the shop for me if that was the case!

Solo · 09/03/2016 00:15

I have loads of meat in the freezer, but seem to leave it there...need to use it up before it is no good done that before!
As for medicines, well, I have enough, but we don't take much, so hopefully won't really need much.

OP posts:
Solo · 09/03/2016 00:16

Oh and I had lots of tinned stuff, but have worked my way through a lot of it as I felt I needed to rotate it. Should restock the tinned goods.

ittooshallpass · 09/03/2016 19:47

My neighbour asked me if I wanted to 'explain that drawer'. Nope.

It's my just in case drawer... it's chocka, lol...

changeoflife · 09/03/2016 20:31

I stock pile massively. Loo roll and wet wipes for some reason!!
