Soapy- I do think your idea is fab to set up a year round thing to help out with crisis loans or birthday pressies or the like.

I do agree that it is too much for one person to take on though so once we have christmas out of the way yell and we can all help.

To all those who have helped penniless I thank you very much. Her situation is difficult and working would be nigh on impossible for her (apart for her self employed business) I can't say much more or I'll give the game away and I know she is pretty devastated at her cisrcumstances and doesn't want people knowing who she is.

essbee I am going to ask her to contact you for guidance on the living expenses . CAB were hoepless with her.

Jarm and everyone else- I'm really sorry for your circumstances, I really wish we were flush so that I could do something to help but with me not working I just don't have the spare cash

Soapy- you are a star

I cannot believe if children are going hungry that there isn't something that you could get from Gov to tide you over even if it was vouchers for essentials. It makes me cross that there isn't someone you can go to. I thought about the charity Save the Children but couldn't find anything useful.

There must be something out there. I will do some more googling

MammyM · 20/11/2006 20:36

I've only just found MN in the last few weeks and you guys are AMAZING, so very, very kind, I'm moved and humbled at the way you rally round so very quickly, thank God for you all. I've said before (about Soapy) MN needs some awards and you kind, kind people really deserve one! I'm so very pleased that you could help penniless out, like you say, a few of us have been there (although not quite so bad) horrible situation, hopefully it'll soon be sorted. I'm only sorry I can't help myself, once my huge repayment plan to all my (evil) creditors is under way, I'll be able to shave a little of a few budgets and help out a little more I hope!. Anyone still interested to know about the tesco vouchers? My Mum is an employee I'll ask her if info is still required?!

MadameButterfly · 20/11/2006 20:42

I have sent paypal to you YG.

burstingbug · 20/11/2006 20:42

I sympathise with everyone who is poor. Wish I could offer something into the fund, but we need to find another £200 by next week to pay the rent, all our food is smartprice or tesco value and I'm praying it will last us the next 2 weeks. We invested in re-usable nappies to save money too.
We have a debt management plan with the cccs but it's still a huge struggle.

lupo · 20/11/2006 22:06

Hi,

have got lots of baby toys 0-12 months would be happy to donate if anyone interested

milge · 20/11/2006 22:11

Mumofmonsters, have you seen Soapbox's thread? Many people on here are happy to reach out.

EmmyLou · 20/11/2006 22:11

MammyM - Hello, yes it would be useful to know if Tesco vouchers can be given to another person or donated to a charity. I don't shop there that often and when my vouchers are sent, it's not much, but then again, they sit around in my purse for ages so may as well be put to use by someone else if possible.

MammyM · 20/11/2006 22:23

Ok, Emmylou, will ask Mother tomorrow!

StrawberryMoon · 21/11/2006 08:49

Hi To OP, i have some money off coupons for tesco(the ones you just hand in no card needed and one for pampers if you would like/need them?

Pixiefish · 21/11/2006 09:18

StrawberryMoon- that would be fab and I'm sure she will be very grateful. as she wants to remain anonymous can you email me thepixiefish at yahoo dot co dot uk or anna at theheads dot net. Then you cna send them to us and we'll pass them on to her. Thanks very much xx

Tortington · 21/11/2006 09:23

nailpolish · 21/11/2006 09:54

penniless hugs to you and yours...I know how you feel as quite often down to our last £5 with a week or so before we are getting anymore money and have to feed dc and ourselves..it is horrible and always tend to be filled with guilt but it is nothing to be ashamed off. You are not wasting money on crap or out gambling/drinking it away so it is not your fault..you are just trying to get by with all the rubbish thrown at you. I am lucky in that my Dh is here so have that moral support but it is difficult to live like that.
