lilac as another divorcee from a crap marriage, how can you poss refer to a man as 'the love of my life' when you haven't seem him interact within your domestic set-up ie your children/home-life?
just interested.

Monty27 · 27/03/2011 23:11

ASBM - Grin at maxi roll of bin bags. Yes, Celtic seems to be floating my boat a bit, but, its early days he hasn't even been invited over for norties yet dinner, so when he meets mine he might run a mile or ten lol.

Betty - all in your own time.

Where is everyone else tonight?

lilacisinlove · 27/03/2011 23:25

asbm, I can say that because I know him and what sort of man he is. I have seen him with his own daughter and know how important she is to him. I know how I feel about him and how he feels about me, and how our relationship is entirely different to any that either of us has had (endured) before. He has met my parents and my work colleagues, and now my children too. We had a lovely day, they were very comfortable with each other very quickly. The girls were themselves, they were at ease and I could tell that he was just being himself too. In fact, within a few hours of meeting him we were lined up and about to go on a ride and I reminded DD1 to remove her glasses. She did, and passed them over my shoulder straight to him!

We respect and care for each other and today I have, as he put it, stared my future in the face. And you know, I am very much looking forward to spending the rest of my life with him.

Lilac - yes, but has he heard you screeching at your ds's yet Grin. Perhaps you don't Blush

I was thinking about this today when I was having to nag ds to do something or other. Well, yes, I suppose I shouldn't nag, but I do and I can see what ASBM means, certainly in this household anyway. Blush

lilacisinlove · 27/03/2011 23:42

I don't screech, Monty, but I have told him that they sometimes are quite nasty to each other and how much it upsets me. It has taken me years to realise that the environment they grew up in, and the formality and lack of affection between their parents, was not modelling a normal family dynamic to them and has had an impact on how they relate to each other. Mostly they are nice to each other, as they were today, fortunately, but it's only a matter of time before they embarrass me greatly!

OP posts:
Monty27 · 27/03/2011 23:44

Lilac - I was trying to be amusing about the screeching.

lilacisinlove · 27/03/2011 23:49

I know, Monty, no offence taken! I am just being honest in saying that I rarely lose it with them, but I shudder at how they behave towards each other sometimes, I really do. It is certainly much easier on term time weekdays when I only have DD2 at home!

aseriouslyblondemoment · 27/03/2011 23:57

as long as you're happy lilacSmile
i was only curious to hear why anyone would be referring to the man they're dating as'the love of my life' or indeed be in love with someone when they haven't blended into their family life ie their dcs
ime love grows and its' course is v diff as a single/div mum

Monty27 · 28/03/2011 00:02

Lilac - no worries, there's a lot of cajoling that goes on here, with two teens, I just mean that someone who isn't used to it may find it a bit difficult disconcerting, I certainly find them hard work and I adore them as obviously I'm their dm. Al was around mine for 13 years, and he's gone, because they are teens and ds is hard work. I chose for Al not to be around because things went sour at the onset of ds's puberty and things became really difficult between he and Al, whereas in the younger days they were really close, like father and son. Anyway.....

I can't remember your backstory regarding DD1 being at boarding school, how old is she? Is that a permanent arrangement? I have a vague recollection but not sure if I have it right.

lilacisinlove · 28/03/2011 00:04

It's certainly growing, asbm, and we're very happy. My hesitation over introducing him to the DDs was purely because when their dad told them he was seeing someone, they freaked out! I had myself all geared up for a similar reaction and instead got a very positive one. If only I'd known it was all going to be so easy and comfortable and go so well, I'd have introduced them to each other ages ago!

I don't think I'm 'dating' any more, I think that stopped around new year. We are way past that now :).

Hmph don't know where the start of my post disappeared to Confused

lilacisinlove · 28/03/2011 00:15

Monty, DD1 is in Year 9 and has boarded since Year 7 started. She loves it.

TLOML's ex had two girls as well as the DD they had together so he is used to things being a lot harder than they are likely to be with my two. Hers were the same age as mine, but the eldest was profoundly disabled and the other one struggled with the lack of attention she got when her big sis needed 24hr care and her mum had another baby. He didn't finish it because of her children though, in fact when he's been up there visiting his own DD he will go and visit her DD while she's in respite care because he adores her.

I screech Blush

I love the idea of finding a love of my life. Of being so completely besotted and have no doubts. I am still not entirely sure I believe it exists tbh

Weird experience tonight playing checkers with Carrot (still showing shiny ipad gadgets Wink) - never attempt a game of tactics with a person who has your exact bloody mind. We had 3 games of total stalemate before giving up.

Monty27 · 28/03/2011 00:20

Lilac - omg, a right old handful there. All dd's mind Grin. I keep threatening ds with boarding school lol.

lilacisinlove · 28/03/2011 00:20

flame, TLOML and I didn't believe it existed, either! You never know...

Night all.

Flame · 28/03/2011 00:23

I am now officially 30!

Oh, Jason Donovan. My sister works on Priscilla and asked him to do the card for me last April :o She gave it to me and said it was a card/present and she would explain all when I opened it. I opened and read, and suddenly deciphered the signature.

I love her job. I get to see shows, and now I have a birthday card from Mr D, and a few years back she got my dvd of Clue signed by Tim Curry for me for xmas.

Monty27 · 28/03/2011 00:24

Flame - Happy 30th Birthday :)

Flame · 28/03/2011 00:24

:o

Monty27 · 28/03/2011 00:26

You lucky duck! Grin

Enjoy your youth Wink

FairyLightsForever · 28/03/2011 01:12

ASBM, Torture Garden is a fetish wear club in London and it comes to Scotland once a year. So I'm going with a couple of friends and have a fabulous burlesque black and red corset and skirt and now red streaks in my hair. And because it's me, I am wearing my Doc Martens and fishnet stockings with it Grin so I can dance all night.
I think there are some scarey proper fetish rooms and I suspect I'll see some rather interesting sights, but for me it's mostly about dressing outrageously and having a good laugh!

I think Janos is ok, I need to meet up with her again, but I broke her last time, so i think we'll only have the one bottle of Wine this time GrinBlush

aurorastargazer · 28/03/2011 07:35

happy birthday flame Smile

tookoolforskool · 28/03/2011 07:41

happy birthday flame.

DD is ill. yuk. had about 2 hours sleep. mum has luckily got the day off and can have her and im going to drag my half asleep self into work as im the only one in today.
fab.
or not.

ASBM - yes. Cant be nice at all for those that dont ever get any weekends free. Its just that DD is used to seeing her dad and speaking to him every day and she cant right now. She is finding it very very hard. Plus she had it marked down when he is coming back and was counting the days down and i know shes going to be awfully upset when she finds out shes got almost another whole month on top of the 3 weeks she thought she had.

Also means for me i get no life at all. What with working and managing everything else, and not having many ( only aquanitices really) friends here i shall just be stuck in, night after night on my own.
