Restaurant with atmosphere London

Me and DH have a night away this Saturday in London and we’re looking for a nice restaurant to go to. We like Le Petit Maison, Zuma, Scott’s but would like somewhere with a bit of atmosphere. Nothing too crazy but something lively would be good as we haven’t been out together in ages. Any recommendations welcomed 🙏🏻

If you are still looking @oceanaus Chop Chop may suit?

If you're keen on Asian food, Duck and Rice on Berwick Street is excellent. Funky vibe too.

Darksideofvebus · 08/05/2025 17:30

I was disappointed by Zedels I must say.

I really dislike London and I think it's so overrated. And always so crowded, and don't get me started on the Tube and the behaviour of people on there. No wonder people are always so naturally angry and anxious and on edge. Such utter rude behaviour. I tend to not go as much as possible.

What a peculiar response??

MyKingdomForACat · 08/05/2025 17:35

The Hawksmoor restaurants have a nice vibe

Brutto (sit at the bar, they almost always squeeze in walk-ins)
Bouchon Racine (walk in at 9 or after, you’ll get a table)

Same here. I went once, never went back

Me too. I went because it is always raved about on here. But the food was like a cafe Rouge

Demartino on Great Portland Street

Second this! Never had a bad meal there and the atmosphere is always great

Vivienne1000 · 08/05/2025 18:42

Cadagon in Chelsea, or Gymkhana in Mayfair.

Atarin · 08/05/2025 18:48

Duck Soup has a great atmosphere.

Ridingthespringwave · 08/05/2025 18:52

Cora Pearl in Covent Garden has a lovely environment and excellent food.

I fear you missed the boat 😥. It used to be so special when Corbin & King ran it (amazing service, atmosphere, very cheap for the quality), but was sold to a Thai hospitality multinational company in about 2022 and now it's still a beautiful building with a similar menu but totally lost its spark.

My previous all time favourite but have you been there recently? Still lovely but only about 60% as good an experience since new ownership. Sadly!

We’ve not been for ages, it was once our favourite spot in London. Had utterly APPALLING service twice in a row and have now given up. Just awful, such a shame.

Bestnottalkaboutit · 09/05/2025 12:40

Berners Tavern has the most beautiful dining room - have a look at the photos, it is spectacular. Food good too

cordialzempy · 09/05/2025 12:50

@Keyanski do you know what you said is actually really rude? I'm from London, all my family are from London, my kids are born and are being brought up in London. Can you imagine if I said that I hated your home town and everyone in it was rude and anxious and angry? Can you see how mean and unfair that would be? Everyone I know here is lovely - perhaps people in London are responding to you in a negative way for a reason?

OP - second vote for Sessions. Or Luca - maybe a bit quiet but such a charming space.

Please, do not come at all.

Massive shame. Apologies if you already saw my response above (and apologies OP for off topic) but i heard Jeremy King is reopening Simpsons on the Strand which I'm super hopeful will be a lot like the Zedel of the past. Autumn i think, might be worth giving it a go?!

Brasserie Zedel, but don't tell anyone else.

I was going to say the same thing.

be sure to leave time for a cocktail in the bar before/after dinner.
