Please share your favourite places for grown up lunches/dinners in central-iso London. Happy for it to be a chain, an indie, fine dining, curry, Thai, anything really!

I love Brasserie Zedel and the Wolseley. Enjoyed the German Gymnasium. Would be very keen to hear of really good curry places, but not Brick Lane or the really cheap ones.

Any ideas much appreciated! :)

I've never found a good Greek restaurant in London!

If you go to Brighton often, Petit Pois is lovely, Burnt Orange (Jay Rayner reviewed it in the Observer today), coalshed (but for meat eaters really)...and O Shio for authentic Korean/Japanese food!

We used to go to a brilliant Greek restaurant in Wood Green called Vrisaki. Not sure it's still there though! Bothered Andy's Greek in Camden Town, never been to it but it's been there many years

Kanishka is great. Black daal is amazing as is the butter chicken and Atul's Chicken Tikka pie.

There is a new place OP you might be interested in. Hackney Coterie. Just opened and it has an amazing bar and the food is stunning. The salmon is the best I've ever tasted. Highly recommend a visit.

Thank you. It sounds nice. Limited on veggie stuff, though, and a bit far out.

Celeriac really seems to be having a moment on veggie menus. I like it, but I do wonder why everywhere suddenly cooks the same things! Hispi cabbage is another very popular ingredient at the moment. Grin

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie I went to a veggie restaurant called Bubala last night (near Liverpool St) and it was amazing! Would definitely recommend - although if you're dining with a real carnivore they might be disappointed... the food was delicious

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/09/2021 16:35

Thanks. This definitely looks like one to add to the list!

Scotts in Mayfair our all time fave

Superexhausted · 24/09/2021 21:13

If you love fish Scott’s is amazing all cooked so perfectly clos Maggiore is also very romantic but normally a long waiting list for a table in the tree room

LazySundayPlease · 24/09/2021 21:28

Dishoom definitely

Iberico for upmarket Tapas, Iberico ham, Spanish antipasto and paella. Also an amazing wine list of delicious Spanish wine.

Also stunning interiors and delightful, knowledgable staff.

(I was at the Marylebone one last night Wink)

colouringindoors · 24/09/2021 21:35

Cheese, fish, seafood and veggie dishes too!

Whitedressparis · 24/09/2021 21:41

Has anyone been to Petrus??

KatherineJaneway · 25/09/2021 07:02

Has anyone been to Petrus??
I have but it was about 4 odd years ago. It was nice, we had the set weekend menu.
ArcheryAnnie · 25/09/2021 07:09

For a very nice casual, reasonably-proced West End meal, the Tokyo Diner in Newport Place can't be beat.

Ibizafun · 25/09/2021 17:27

Yes Clos Maggiore we book a year in advance! Went to an outstanding new place called Chameleon in Marylebone. Outside with massive heaters you feel you’re on holiday, off the scale Israeli food. Have to request the main section though with live music/atmosphere

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/09/2021 19:57

Thanks all. Keeping this bumped!

Just booked Gloria in Shoreditch, because Grace Dent likes it. Anybody been?

Also, has anybody done Pret a Portea?

@BillyRaywasapreachersson

Current fave - Mildred's Old faves - Boulevard Cote at At Katherine's Dock Last swish meal out - Aqua Shard
I was coming on to say Mildred's too! Highly recommended regardless, but especially if you're a vegetarian / vegan.
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/10/2021 01:04

Only had breakfast at Mildred's so far. Really nice.
