Tilly, I can easily meet you after the school run one morning- I can jump on a bus and probably be in your area by 9.30! Anyway - see how you go, drop me an email and we can see about dates.

dd's first entire day at school today! We just made it on time this morning thanks to ds's antics

tillyfernackerpants · 22/09/2009 14:43

Great, I'll email you later! What did ds get up to then?!

Are there any nights out planned? Could do with one

vbus · 22/09/2009 14:47

Slng - please no more scare stories

Tilly - yes defo going this Sunday as DH away (cycling to Paris!) There was only 1 other mum there last wk, she said it gets busier as winter looms, but it was great as we had the place to ourselves. Just bring your own snacks/drinks as no cafe there. You can park at Teddington school and sports centre is behind, just follow the balloons. text me if you're going, would be nice to catch up

vbus · 22/09/2009 14:48

Tilly there is night out thread, better put your name down!

tillyfernackerpants · 22/09/2009 14:57

thanks vbus, had a look couple of days ago but didn't see it

Will let you know about Sunday

sfxmum · 22/09/2009 15:30

am already missing day meet ups with all of you, be nice to at least catch up on eve meet up
dd is so tired after school I think we will stick to playing with neighbours

niece seems to be settling in well at Uni her tutor is Mr. Cullen
he seems entirely puzzled as to why all the girls keep saying is name as often as possible followed by giggling

OP posts:
slng · 22/09/2009 16:01

Hello!

Home finally. DS1 supposedly changing upstairs but I can hear shenanigans.

vbus - Last cake sale I took in a leftover packet of Iceland cupcakes leftover from a party.

sfx - poor Mr Cullen! Surely that kind of giggly girl thing passes after the age of 15? I remember I used to hate that, even when I was 15...

sfxmum · 22/09/2009 20:01

I do pity the tutor and expect it will die down eventually
but I don't mind silly giggling at any age, actually I wish I was a giggling 15yr old when I was 15

very tired today could do with some sleep, dh doing his bit and went to to school function tonight

OP posts:
sfxmum · 22/09/2009 20:01

pcW hope dd had a good first full day

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 22/09/2009 20:15

sfx, poor tutor! Though I would've thought someone might have clued him up!

pcw, how was dd's first full day?

Am watching trashy tv, wished I had a glass of wine with it, would be much more enjoyable. Just annoying now though!

slng · 22/09/2009 20:25

Am watching masterchef while updating my lecture notes ... Pretty grim ...

Tilly- thank you for the reminder.

pcworld · 22/09/2009 21:01

I decided to go off the red stuff for a week at a time and just have the odd glass of a weekend. The downside is that I have just eaten 4 of the oat cookies that have just come out of the oven! Ok they were small but still ... I reckon the one small glass of red would have been the healthier option!

dd seemed to sail through school today and was relaxed and happy when we got back. She had also eaten all of her rather substantial packed lunch! Long may it continue Feeling really bored now, off to hunt out an unread book from the bookshelf OR I may even re-read a classic.

vbus · 23/09/2009 09:09

Hurray for mini-PCW, that's great she's settled in so well. Did you find book?

I ended up sorting out loads of admin type stuff last night, boooorrring but it needed doing.

LOL at teacher, poor bloke!

DS1 is tired today. Let's see how we go

tillyfernackerpants · 23/09/2009 09:19

Ok ds2 asleep, I really should be cleaning up, getting tea cooked etc but instead find myself on MN. There really should be something that could physically boot you off when you're using it for avoidance!

PCW, glad dd has settled in well

slng · 23/09/2009 09:40

Good morning!

I have finally succumbed and given DS1 a jam sandwich for lunch! It is on rye bread though. Is that acceptable? I did also give him corn-on-the-cob and an egg ... Our lunch boxes are getting more random by the day.

Now laundry and work.

sfxmum · 23/09/2009 10:26

good morning all

I seem to be exceedingly hormonal today as for the first time I felt like crying when dd said goodbye and walked into her classroom

really could do with getting on with last piece of work for course, deadline looming, but just can't get into it

moan moan moan

pcworld · 23/09/2009 14:45

SFX, how are you feeling now? What did you do this morning in the end? Be nice to yourself at the moment, perhaps a cuppa and a slice of cake in a nice cafe with the paper? Things are changing and everyone is having to adjust.

Have a veggie curry bubbling away here, let's hope it goes down well later We are a curtain and curtain rail-free household now (at least in the front room, anyway) - ds tore it all down today during a particularly exuberant game of hide & seek

vbus, how goes it, have you managed the logo? I am feeling the pressure on your behalf!

vbus · 23/09/2009 15:02

Hi PCW - at DS antics, I can see that happening in our house one day, although safe for time being as DS1 fave place to hide is behind a cushion
I have just taken said cakes out of oven and will decorate tonight. They will probably taste great but I'm afraid they will look very home made I'm very new to all of this

Sfx - as PCW said take it easy, lots of changes going on atm. Get some mags to take your mind off things

Playgroup was great this morning but it was pretty busy and of course more rushing around to get back in time for lunch and then out again to school. Would go again though as it was nice and closeby

Now must dash off again. Catch you all later

slng · 23/09/2009 19:52

Hello!

Back from parents' evening in school!

pc/vbus - we've had an incident of curtain+rail descending upon us too. But it was a particularly weedy curtain rail, like the cheapest type you can get from B&Q. So we replaced it with the second cheapest and so far it has withstood the ravages of time and small boys.

vbus · 24/09/2009 09:33

Morning

Slng - how was parents evening? I have managed to persuade DH to attend tonight.

Cakes all ready to be shipped off, they don't look the best but they do taste great, obviously I had to sample one before unleashing on the general public

PCW - think I'll head to Greenacres tom as I it's a bit more low key & closer to home. CM might be too manic for me after yesterday's playgroup. Also not quite ready for the whole lunch in the car scenario just yet If you fancy it let me know.

slng · 24/09/2009 09:45

Morning!

Exhausted now after DS2 decided not to dress in the morning and me losing it and letting all the neighbours and the next county know about it

vbus - parents' evening was fine, though having a child there actually does cramp one's style ... I would have liked to ask some questions but I didn't want to put ideas in that child's head. Also want to know who on earth thought up a term like "number sentence". What's wrong with "equation" like everyone else in the world? Honestly. But probably not important in the scheme of things. Me, getting a sense of perspective. I need my elevenses. This is not normal.

sfxmum · 24/09/2009 10:17

good morning all

pcW&vbus am fine really thanks just too many things at the same time and I wish things could slow down just a tick while I take a deep breath

dd is at home today feeling poorly after being up all night with a fever and cough

pcW vigorous playing indeed I was always worried the pole would fall and hit her on the head when dd played around the curtains it never did obviously

vbus am sure cakes will be great

slng don't think that will be the last odd 'rebranding/renaming' that you will encounter

the topic at parents evening this week was 'the warning book' which seems to have filled the entire reception class with dread
the children get written up for misbehaving and 3 warning warrant a more serious sanction

OP posts:
slng · 24/09/2009 10:35

sfx - the children do seem to suffer quite a bit of anxiety about all these "discipline" business. One of the parents was worried that her child seem quite anxious about it. Not sure what you can do about it. The children don't know what is legitimate dissent and what is "disobedience". I tell myself that's why we have such arguments at home, because we must all be allowed a different opinion.

tillyfernackerpants · 24/09/2009 10:39

How many parents evenings are you all having? We haven't had anything & won't do until an open day in Oct!

slng · 24/09/2009 10:40

Tilly - one at beginning of term and one at end, I think. I remember going to one general meeting and two where you get to see your child's scribbles work.
