doctor/janitor story here www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/627673-ok-more-advice-from-medical-types-or-those-experienced-in don't expect you to have an opinion just too lazy to type the story twice! The real story is longer and started at 11.30am and ended at about 2.30pm!

SushiMummy · 15/10/2008 09:21

Morning all.

QC - sorry to hear about the platlets count slipping. Suppose you are going to see GP for advice? Still 65 is better than 0, right? Keep fingers crossed for you.

stepfordwife · 15/10/2008 09:34

morning, morning
hope you're all well

kew, read your other thread. i reckon you should talk to your consultant- always best to go back to the original source who actually knows your case.

sausage, how was your away day in windsor?

right, don't know what's come over me this week, but cracking on with work at a right old pace. (maybe the niggling fear of dh losing his job is spurring me on, eh?)

steppie's take on spousal support in times of stress.
steppie:'oh god, you're not going to get sacked, are you?"
dh: 'It's not my intention."
steppie: 'actually, if you did, i could get a full-time job and you could stay at home.....hmmmm, you'd be a fab house husband....."

have a fab day, all
toodlepip

Kewcumber · 15/10/2008 09:49

Sushi - 65 count really isn't a problem. its the whole dropping the drugs dose again without checking first whether its still dropping that alarms me slightly.

All resolvable no doubt but nothing in life is simple when you need it to be is it?!

sfxmum · 15/10/2008 10:58

good morning all

KC sorry about the troublesome platelets and odd registrars

steppie let's hope no one loses their jobs unless you would really like a house husband.
reckon you should start writing your book seeing as you are so motivated and all

dd was up early and demanding to be taken to nurseryI dropped her off went to weight watchers then went running marvellous

I think now I need a huge bowl of porridge

Kewcumber · 15/10/2008 13:40

steppie - we could split him if he's prepared to do childcare too... and washing and cleaning...

stepfordwife · 15/10/2008 14:23

you're on, kew!

actually, sfx my ideal would be for us both to work for three days a week and share childcare...

well, i was was motivated until a friend rang me telling me to get my arse to woollies in sheen as it's got a closing down sale

i love woolworth's...where am i gong to buy all my kids' pressies now??
anyhow, anyone who's got a chance, go go go

everything is half-price - some toys even half price again, iyswim. (wii and DS stuff not in sale, though)

well, i got christmas pressies for my brood and niece and nephew and stocked up[ on pants, socks, PJs etc.
think i'll go again tomorrow..

fely really sorry for staff who've lost their jobs, tho, as we all rushed around in a spending frenzy.
apparently they were all told yesteday store is closing in 120 days.
one of the staff told me it's the highest-turnover shop in sheen, but there's going to be a tesco metro there instead - so tesco obviously just chucked enough money about.

sorry for discourse on woolllies but i love it and am very (sad) it's closing but (smile) with my bargains.

stepfordwife · 15/10/2008 14:25

er, 10 days that should be
sorry for crap typing..rushing to get back to my work (seeing as i'm so motivated at mo )

sfxmum · 15/10/2008 14:44

share care was/ is our ideal too no idea if we will ever achieve it.

thanks for wollies tip must generally investigate sheen I think

spent some time yesterday planning a possible degree, to be done over a number of years, got all excited about the different courses and it all seem possible, am now a bit scared by the level of commitment/cost starting in January but but but kinda want to do it

I will be a granny student I think

sfxmum · 15/10/2008 14:49

Kewcumber · 15/10/2008 15:01

ooh must get arse down to woolies (when KC ponders) I too love woolies. Can we set up a petition to stop it (after sale of course)

stepfordwife · 15/10/2008 15:15

..yes, was mooting a campaign to neighbours, kew..
sfx, yes indeed....

Kewcumber · 15/10/2008 16:01

still think fondly of pic-n-mix at Llanelli Wollies of my childhood

sillybigsausage · 15/10/2008 16:10

Steppy LOL at you becoming a Woolies anorak -
If it wasn't raining I'd be there right now

Rushed to pick DCs up at 3.15 only to remember they both have after school clubs today

..so here I am

Windsor away day mucho crappo - got stuck on closed M4 so was 90 mins late and the awayday venue was over heated to the extent that I felt sick all day ..lots of changes at work - people losing job etc - ripple effect from one of major Directors being made redundant, which is due to cost cutting, which is due to credit crunch. Even us Public sector bods ar affected you know!!!

Blah, Blah

Kew - will read up on platelets saga - how frustrating and worrying though . May join you in crying "bollocky bollocks"

or even "Bollix"

Kewcumber · 15/10/2008 16:16

one small piece of good news - I am immune to chicken pox despite not having had it

I can feel the force.

stepfordwife · 15/10/2008 16:55

what do you mean becoming a woolies anorak, sausage?
was born one

oh yes, kew, the allure of pic 'n' mix as a child, indeed, as an adult...
i used to drive my dad mad hiding behind the counters
(misty-eyed nostalgia..)
good news on CP immunity

slng · 15/10/2008 17:05

Had gardeners round. Garden doesn't look like a secondary jungle anymore!

Am going to feed kids tinned sardines for tea.

slng · 15/10/2008 17:06

Gardeners pruned rose bush and we now have some roses in the kitchen. It smells fantastic!

rosmerta · 15/10/2008 17:34

Steppie, is that all Woolies closing or just the one in Sheen? There is a large one in Chiswick that I frequent!

Sfx, yep, ds had photos taken at nursery as well about a month ago. We were a bit annoyed that we weren't given the choice of whether we wanted him to even have it done! Anyway, didn't bother ordering them as they are usually very expensive!

Kew, glad to hear about cp immunity, haven't read your other thread yet though, will go & do so. More because I'm nosy rather than having any advice to offer!

Btw, has anyone heard from Paddle? She hasn't been on in a while

stepfordwife · 15/10/2008 17:45

just the one in sheen, ros, thank gawd...

slng · 15/10/2008 17:56

A world without woolies Having said that I'm quite partial to Wilkinson's these days ...

sillybigsausage · 15/10/2008 19:58

Wilkinsons is the new Woolies...

bunyanvillas · 15/10/2008 20:19

No, no, Ros - the one in Chiswick is closing and turning into a Waitrose

bunyanvillas · 15/10/2008 20:22

SFX you are so brainy I am just sitting here with a glass of wine surfing ebay and rightmove for my perfect country cottage. Need to get a life and get brain in gear. Must also read this thread properly

SJ99 · 15/10/2008 20:52

Zikes at Woolies closure It is a fab shop for all sorts of knick knacks. Wilkinsons just doesn't have the same appeal

Sfx- I seem to be doing masses of washing daily too now DH back, more gym gear, towels & casual wear not to mention all baby stuff I'm getting sorted - a taste of things to come no doubt.
What degrees are you looking at? Exciting stuff!

KC - good news about CP immunity, how did that happen?! Got any further with your platelets diagnosis?

Bunyan - have you found your dream cottage yet?

After a hectic day I'm getting ready for nail polish, ice cream & Heroes
