New thread as the other one is not going to last long.

OP posts:
ComeOVeneer · 11/01/2008 21:47

Is the Kew Road the one that actually runs along the wall of Kew gardens (I'm still a novice to a lot of this area, although as of last week I moved down here a year ago , pity I still haven't finished unpacking/decorating - there goes my crown as uber organised/tidy person on this thread )

fitfox · 11/01/2008 23:08

CoV , yes it is that road that Kew Gardens is in. Where did U live before then

How is your DH - 'scuse typos; mini beast on lap feeding, so can't reach cap lock to do question marks

Paddlechick666 · 12/01/2008 07:47

morning all

well, i fell asleep on the sofa at 9:30pm last night

haven't done that for a while!

SJ & Kew thanks for coming over yesterday afternoon. Great to see you and I think the kids played really nicely. Kew I found the shoe, in the little bag that was on the coffee table!

SJ, those biscuits are sinful and very delicious!

DD didn't go off till nearly 8pm but she actually slept till 7am! Despite some drunken revellery going on outside around 3ish and the 4:30am door slammer who seems to live in this building.

i had a very weird dream about running a marathon don't worry tho, i didn't actually run it! i missed the start because the only toilet i could find was a two storey affair (in a usual cubicle size) and I couldn't figure out how to get into it!

this was preceeded by some weird down the cliff walking on the edge of the ocean with the tide coming up.

go on then, who can dream analyse that!

off to tesco mecca this morning I think, we have a stock of birthday presents to buy.

slng · 12/01/2008 08:53

Paddle - My Chinese almanac says if you dreamt of lots of bees last night then good days are coming. Nothing about marathons and toilets and cliffs and tides ...

sfxmum · 12/01/2008 10:33

good morning all

paddle it is like a metaphor for sensibly avoiding extra trouble and just making it everyday despite the dangers and difficulties - but with a great view

so do I get the job in mag spewing bullsh*t?

So glad dh is home this morning, will escape and do some shopping before he goes to work, dd kept me up, her cough was waking her up and she was really grumpy, dh has been up with her since 6.30 guess she will need a nap and mess up bedtime.

stepfordwife · 12/01/2008 10:35

morning all

hope you're all diddling well

paddle, glad dd settled in well. hmmm as for your dreams

sing, my dd is a cafe devotee, too. can't think where she gets it from does grate to hear a 2-year-old requesting;'babyccino, mama," tho

blimey..'back in the day", don't think i had a cappuccino until i was about 20 or something. nescafe was the height of sophisication..oh no actually, it was all perculated coffee, wasn't it? tasted foul...

foxie..hope the lodger search goes well

COV.. hope dh feeling ok
kew - how was DS last night. just keep saying 'it's a phase". one of my few parenting mantras

ds1 has got a throat lurgy..can hardly talk apart from a few rasps.
feeling a bit tired too - stayed up too late drinking too much wine, watching too much celebrity BB hijack (which i'd forgotten all about until my neighbour reminded me..)
have a lovely day, all
toodlepip

stepfordwife · 12/01/2008 10:40

sfx..no, that's my job

what about that incredible story of the twins marrying after they were adopted separately at birth?

heartbreaking for them, but utterly fascinating how they must have been drawn together/felt like they'd always known each other/even looked alike i presume?? without knowing why.. not that i'm presuming or anything

sfxmum · 12/01/2008 10:46

oops steppie I did not mean the excellent publications to which you contribute

yes I hear the comment on PM last night some woman was saying it was common for relatives brought up apart to have such feelings even when they first meet.
someone else was implying the Lord who brought it up is a loony with an agenda.

If it is true how horribly painful

stepfordwife · 12/01/2008 10:50

sfx

yes there was a couple fairly recently who decided to carry on living as partners (think they'd had a child, too) after they discovered they were brother and sister (different fathers)

stepfordwife · 12/01/2008 11:14

re the twins story..
what's the betting it'll be coming to a multiplex near you, soon.....

rosmerta · 12/01/2008 12:24

hi all

have had a lovely morning, dh took ds to the park so I had a leisurely breakfast! Am wondering what to do this afternoon as its so nice, maybe the bunny park.

And all your talk of sleeping has jinxed ds! The last few days have been a mix of nap/no nap, sleep 7pm-8am/9pm-8am. How I long for the days when he slept whenever I put him in his cot!

Hope you're all ok.

SJ99 · 12/01/2008 13:14

Hello all, lovely day

Thanks for fun afternoon yesterday Paddle & for loan of girlie trousers! Nice to see you too Kew, glad missing shoe turned up

DS out like a light at 7pm but I had to stay with him btw 10-12pm as girlies next door were having a party and kept waking him up, grrr.

Boys time this morning which meant I could pop to Kingston to do some shopping. Mostly I bought pressies & house stuff but I did manage to get some Gap jeans & cardi for £23, bargain!

Amanada - small world, 3 Kings is at the end of my road! How do you find Molesey after having lived in Twickers for so long?

Foxie - alas, it was not a solo swim yesterday, I meant I took DS to his swimming lesson

fitfox · 12/01/2008 13:23

Howdy!!

Well DS actually slept quite well last night - very rare occurance!!

Nice sunny day out there, although it looks a bit nippy

Steppy - that story about the twins is spooky isn't it? It must feel very confusing for them now...

Just interviewed a wonderful woman re. the room. She's a 36 yr old nurse and we just chatted for hours. I even offered her a rent reduction, to match her carrent rent, 'cos she's so nice

The "problem" is that she has a massive King Size bed and a huge desk. She's gone home to do some measurements to see if her furniture would fit. Have 2 more viewings later today....

I have my drinking club tomorrow in Highgate. We have a new member (an old friend of mine), so its a "new" venue (although of course I've been going to her house for years), and she's a great cook

Must try and get out for a healthy stroll today with the monsters

SJ99 · 12/01/2008 13:53

Great news about the nurse, let's hope her furniture fits, good luck.

Off to get DS, no nap today, he's gone bit mental after his morning with daddy!

SJ99 · 12/01/2008 14:04

QC - something for next b'day pressie? I found this Thomas

www.pricerighthome.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=121_37&products_id=1998

sofa since both DS enjoyed lounging around on Mini-pads sofa

(sorry can't get link to work!)

SJ99 · 12/01/2008 14:06

ok, link seems to have posted alright

Paddlechick666 · 12/01/2008 14:25

that's cool SJ, dd's was £30 reduced from £50 and i've rarely seen them since.

good site for bedding too, will have to book mark it.

Paddlechick666 · 12/01/2008 14:31

Ros, just remembered that you asked about my wi-fi router. sorry i never got back to you but DM has just bought a laptop so i'm going to give it her.

sorry

sfxmum · 12/01/2008 14:50

did a bit a shopping today but only stuff I needed and local, still have vouchers to spend but no time to browse.
dd seems ok but still coughing, I think it is too cold for her to venture out today, besides she is in need of nap.

dh went off to work all grumpy and despairy, should be in a brilliant mood later

foxie sounds promising regarding both the lodger and bookclub.

SJ don't think dads do quiet time do they?

have paper and book to read, dd will not let me do hoovering, terrible shame, still must keep busy

sfxmum · 12/01/2008 14:51

am inordinately excited by the return of Torchwood with Spike in it and snoging Jack, Marvellous

fitfox · 12/01/2008 16:55

Paddle - is the Wi Fi router the thing you buy to fix to your laptop so you can get Wi Fi?

Do you need the house rigged for Wi Fi too? Your friend managed to get it when he was here and I can't work out how he did it. (He had a laptop with Wi Fi). I need to replicate what he had for future lodgers.

Had a nice walk to Sheen and borrowed 6 DVDs from Blockbusters - DVD fest here we come. They are on 3 for 2, borrow for a week, special offer.

My nice nurse was supposed to ring me this arvo but hasn't. My two viewings didn't show!!! One did text to cancel, other one just didn't show.

I think I will offer the room to the Chinese woman this evening as I have kept her waiting long enough (she may have found alternatives by now). I know she'll pay the rent, its just she is quite bossy , plus she will have her DH moving in too in March.

rosmerta · 12/01/2008 18:41

Sfx, is Torchwood on tonight? Very excited though dh mumbles disapprovingly at all the kissing go on

No worries Paddle, dh can always pick one up cheaply anyway if we need it.

Foxie, shame about people not turning up, rude imo!

We've had a nice afternoon at childsplay cafe, quite empty so we could actually sit & relax while ds did some drawing.

rosmerta · 12/01/2008 18:49

I'm also unreasonable excited that I get chance to see Life on Mars! Missed it first time around & one of the sky channels are showing it from the beginning!

SJ99 · 12/01/2008 19:20

haven't seen Life on Mars either, am trying not to get hooked on any more tv series!

Yep, website is good. Was buying towel when I spied sofa, you dont see them very often do you?

Foxie - bummer about the no shows, their loss imo

Went to Bushy park this afternoon, DS enjoyed chatting to the deers whilst DH collected kindling, such fun

Best go as friends coming soon for dinner, need to set table

Enjoy your evening all

Paddlechick666 · 12/01/2008 19:36

foxie, friend used a 3g mobile card from vodafone to get access from your place so wasn't on your broadband access at all.

a wi-fi router allows any wi-fi enabled laptop or desktop to access broadband anywhere in the house.

most kit is wi-fi enabled these days so you just need the router.

without both you can't access broadband without being physically plugged in.

kew, thanks for this arvo. dd sparko and pizza ordered. she had a great time.

good to see you too 2cute, will catch up in the week. ds is such a cutie!
