evening all, floor is down and appliances delivered (at 7pm!).

dd has been sick in her cot and then major heaving down the loo.

hoping it is cough related and not a bug. she is back asleep now but i am now petrified she will vomit in her sleep again. she was barely awake as it was earlier.

more painting, boxes, plumbing in of washing machine and carpet laying tomorrow.

just hope dd rallies.

i'm soooo whacked!

Poor Minipads, do you think she has picked up a new bug? Hope not. Hooray that floor is done, you must be relieved.

SFX - you're right about the comparisons not working out, I got a lot of hassle in Sweden and it was so stressful - Swedish and American babies are the biggest in the world and they were trying to compare DS to that But this is more that he is not in line with his own growth curve, so I hope that they can help

11am sounds good, will give you a buzz in morning if we can make it

SushiMummy · 06/12/2007 09:50

sfx, I really can't imagine your DD being difficult, she's such a lovely girl! Hope you have decent sleep tonight.

SJ, hope DS makes up his lost weight quickly. My friend's DS (Asian/Japanese/English mix) was 8lb at birth but his growth was so slow and he was on special formula milk for a while. Now he's three and nowhere near the British average, more close to Japanese average. He seems healthy and happy so my friend isn't too concerned now.

Paddle, poor mini-paddle. Hope she gets better soon.

QC, do you use P Andre (vet)? Is he good? We need to change our vet (too far). TIA

sfxmum · 06/12/2007 10:01

morning all

paddle hope things are better down your way

sushi thanksdd really is a cutie and generally a delight she has a strong sense of self which is good but oh so tiring when she simply must do everything by herself in her own way.
This reminds me parenting is all about adapting to change and enabling them to grow and develop.

also I expect my dd will be smaller than average, my niece is shorter than most of her schoolmates, it's the southern european short gene

SJ dd slept well and seems fine today but not sure I will venture very far as the weather looks awful, might just pop to shops and let her run around mothercare.

hi everyone else

SJ99 · 06/12/2007 10:03

Thanks Sushi for reassurance. I'm sure he is fine, but am keen to hear if they do have any tips for his diet plus always good to know if his allergies are improving/worsening/new ones.

SFX hope you all had a good night's sleep. Wet and late start means I think we're going to stay at home today. You/anyone else welcome to round of course Enjoy yourselves if you do go to Kew. About to dish up breakfast now

sfxmum · 06/12/2007 10:06

I do believe we are the slack parents at the bottom of the classhaving breakfast now too Gina Ford would not approve

Kewcumber · 06/12/2007 10:17

Sushi - I think Andre's practice is one of the best around.

SJ - don't know if it would help but DS was significantly underweight when he came home and I fed him avocado every other day (recommended by anotehr adoptive paretn not too filling but packed with fat of the best kind). If he isn;t keen on avocado try him on "pudding" avocado blended with orange - tastes like creamy orange mousse. Foxie can confirm proportions but something like 2 oranges to one large avocado in a blender then in the fridge.

SJ99 · 06/12/2007 10:50

LOL SFX - I wouldn't have it any other way

Thanks QC - I do try and give him avacado on a regular basis as well as adding extra oil to all his meals besides other things. Unfortunately Ds doesn't automatically eat what is put in front of him and often eats/requests low cal foods like tomatoes . Will try orange blend though, that might entice him, always on the look out for new food ideas

Might attempt play doh this morning and see how much mess we can make

slng · 06/12/2007 10:54

DS1 and DS2 wolf down avocado and banana mash - one avocado one banana. Looks like snot but goes in mouths instead of out noses.

sfxmum · 06/12/2007 10:54

SJ I expect smoothies work as well with full fat yoghurt and adding greek yoghurt too as higher in fat.

unless he is lacto intolerant in which case it is harder.

SJ99 · 06/12/2007 11:07

Unfortunately Ds doesn't do yogurt or anything looking like yogurt so smoothies are out. And he will eat banana and avacado but just not together. Told you he was a fusspot

Used to drive me insane but now it just (mostly) doesn't faze me anymore, all I can do is to keep offering these things, it's up to him to eat them. When he's ill it's tough though as his weight just drops, he's so tired all the time (hence lie-in today!)

sfxmum · 06/12/2007 12:23

must find bike helmet, as christmas present for the dh 'the trendy kind' middle life crisis me thinks, possibly motorbike or red car to follow

fitfox · 06/12/2007 12:47

SJ - 3 ripe sweet oranges and one avocado blended (mega yummy!!)

A good one for growth is milk and bananas - either blended or just eaten/drank together. The calcium is good for bones and the banan carbs help growth. Bananas and avocados are both "total" foods - packed with so much goodness and minerals. BF women are told to eat bananas in many countries if their babies are small. Plantains also good for growth

fitfox · 06/12/2007 12:49

Bananas and avocados together might be hard for him to digest - carbs and protein is not so good in terms of food blending.

Ornages help break down the fat in avocados and make it easier to digest, as well as making the avocado sweeter (if you use nice ripe oranges)

rosmerta · 06/12/2007 12:54

Hi all, have been to tumbletots this morning and just stayed at Childsplay as it was so wet. We even discovered a whole other room!

Paddle - have you and dd actually moved into your new house? Just thinking that when we moved last year ds was sick a few times in the first couple of days and we just put it down to the move. Hope that's it and she's not picked up something else!

SJ99 · 06/12/2007 13:09

Thanks Foxie, will try that. I love bananas, I eat them everyday & end up eating DS leftover avacados most days too

Glad you enjoyed TT Ros. Don't think Ds was too into playdoh, he preferred playing with the box and the free sticker that the came with the box, typical

rosmerta · 06/12/2007 14:00

Seems quiet today!

Sj, I meant to say that I'm sure ds will be fine. A friend of mine had a similar problem with her ds and (apparently) the HV suggested that she try feeding him chips every so often !

stepfordwife · 06/12/2007 14:48

hello chapettes
how you all diddling?
hope all the poorly dcs are now better...
and that you haven't got packing box rage yet, paddle.

bit hectic here and dh in poland, but ,met my old work lot for drinks on tuesday. of course, got carried away being in a soho bar like a normal person...great fun (although made me hanker to be back there) but felt, ahem, ratheR 'tired" yesterday. And was a VERY SHOUTY MUMMY,,,apparently..

have just got my act together and registered with inland revenue as self-employed but have incurred a £100 fine becuase i should have done it within 3 months.
know ignorance is no excuse, but didn't realise..

anyhow, the very nice lady on the phone, strongly hinted might waiver it if i write a grovelling letter. fingers crossed.

i told her as they'd lost my child benfit details, they could whistle for their £100 and we'd call it quits
toodlepip

SJ99 · 06/12/2007 15:28

Zikes, we're all doomed! I need to go to Kingston soon to exchange a hat, now it would be rude not to pop in wouldn't it??!

Bummer about the fine Steppie, worth writing a grovelly letter, you never know your luck

SJ99 · 06/12/2007 15:43

Any of you taken your LO's to a festival yet?
Been invited to go to one next summer and was undecided whether DS might be too young or not. Tickets on sale tonight so I guess I have to make my mind up soon...

sfxmum · 06/12/2007 15:48

SJ - we took dd to Latitude which was great and very child friendly. plan on going again next summer. think there is a pic on my profile

my sister has been taking hers to Glasto since they were 5&7 she says it is great now as they really get lost[grin}

SJ99 · 06/12/2007 15:52

My bro invited me to go to the one at Isle of Wight, would love to but might be a bit full on for DS, esp 3days of it. Will check out Latitude as an alternative.
