Dawndonnaagain: Is Juan still running Focus in Halesworth? Lovely guy, came to DM's funeral.

The DPs retired just up the road, midway between the Nelson and Cherry Tree when they were still open.

Incidentally, the best fish and chips in the world are found on Dunwich beach.

I live in Suffolk! Just south of the Norfolk border. Used to teach in Bramfield. Love it, love it, love it. Now, what can I add that hasn't already been said? Suffolk Food Halls, Wykken Vineyards. If you haven't visited Eye recently (about to out myself) there's an arts centre called The Bank and a cafe called La Chocolaterie, as well as the castle, beautiful church & ugly town hall that've been there for ages.

DS2, who has SN, goes to day care in Stowmarket, where they've introduced him to the delights of browsing in charity shops Smile.

mymatemax · 14/03/2014 20:00

I live nr Aldeburgh, wouldn't live anywhere else. Love it! x

BitsinTatters · 14/03/2014 20:01

Cheapskatemum. .. I live VERY close to you

trying to work out who you are

pointythings · 14/03/2014 20:06

I'm in Mildenhall, which is really quite unlovely - but the rest of Suffolk is so gorgeous I forgive it because I'm so well positioned to all the roads that lead - well, out of Mildenhall...

cheapskatemum · 14/03/2014 20:14

Bitsintatters Shall I post clues? Or PM you? Until last month, when I went on a MN course, I've never knowingly met an MNer in RL!

Doublemuvver · 14/03/2014 20:15

I am from Suffolk. I love it and I desperately want to move back but it's too pricey! It is the forgotten corner of England. No cities. No motorway. Pure gloriousness.

BitsinTatters · 14/03/2014 20:16

Oooo let's play guess who

cheapskatemum · 14/03/2014 20:29

Well apart from the fact you live near me & are, presumably, a Mum, I know naff all about you! People used to mistake me for the manager of the pub. In fact they might still mistake me for her, but the pub now has a different manager.

Dawndonnaagain · 14/03/2014 20:35

ItsOk I drove past yours last night, I pick dd up from her boyfriend and rather than try to turn around, it's easier to turn left, nip through Bramfield and end up on the other side of Hammonds!

BitsinTatters · 14/03/2014 20:35

Ooo the queens?

Dawndonnaagain · 14/03/2014 20:36

Disgrace I don't know, haven't been for a while, you've given me an excuse to check next week though! Grin

You mean there's more than 1 pub in Eye & I never knew? Well I suppose there's Over the Moon, but yes, The Queen's Head.

BitsinTatters · 14/03/2014 20:41

Not been in over the moon yet. Apparently it's good

You could always include the mead lands place down at the "reck" where the skate park is and zumba

cheapskatemum · 14/03/2014 20:52

Of course, yes the Community Centre. How often's the bar open down there these days? I'm friends with the Chair and I went to the Wednesday eve Zumba a few times. (Apologies for thread hijack)

cheapskatemum · 14/03/2014 20:54

Dawndonnaagain Hammonds were brilliant when I put petrol in my diesel car in the middle of the night a couple of years ago.

VivaLeBeaver · 14/03/2014 20:56

I've never been to Suffolk but I want to.

I keep thinking it sounds a nice place for a cycling holiday.

That's what I thought. Grin

BitsinTatters · 14/03/2014 21:08

Oh wow. I've been to Zumba with Emily too!!

TheBeautifulVisit · 14/03/2014 21:22

LottieJenkins - Ahh, how nice. I remember often meeting pupils from the PNEU at the dentist (our dentist was Mr Brinton whose practise was at Hooker House on Quay Street Grin).

I live in a beautiful bit of Hertfordshire now but when people say how beautiful it is, I just suck my teeth and think 'It's not a patch on North Suffolk.'

I might have to hide this thread as you are all making me green with envy.

cheapskatemum · 14/03/2014 21:55

BitsinTatters front row or back row?

BitsinTatters · 14/03/2014 21:56

Always back!!

cheapskatemum · 14/03/2014 22:10

Well you would have had a good view of me floundering in the front then, near the door? 3/4 length blue leggings, sleeveless top, hair in bunches (get very hot)
