When Two Become One - Dundee and Angus Local CHAT THREAD

The merging of the sites seems to have done funny stuff to active convos on here, so here is a new chat thread for all Mnetters in Dundee and Angus.

How are you all doing? If you don't know me yet, I am the Local Editor of the Dundee Angus site, and will be working hard to get the site filled with great places to visit, tips for classes and shopping, and lots of wine or coffee fueled meetups.

I have just been moving house this past week, which is why it has been very quiet on here, but am hoping to be back up to speed next week.

Soooooooooooooooo, how is the weather where you are? I am in Dundee and it is snowing but not lying. Can you believe it? Where is our Spring gone?

OP posts:
CinnamonWitch · 15/11/2013 11:34

waves hello, I'm a regular MNetter who has only just had a peek at MN Local stuff today. I have a 1 year old and am in Montrose.

LEDundeeAngus · 15/11/2013 12:23

Hi Cinnamon, and welcome to Local!

Who is going out to watch the lighting of the Xmas decs in City Square tonight?

Have arranged to go with my mum and the kids.

LentilAsAnything · 15/11/2013 21:00

Hi, popcorn, long time no see! it feels! Hope all is well.

Welcome, Cinnamon and ceetee. I'm pretty new here myself. I have a just-turned three yo boy, and we are currently pretty central Dundee, but househunting. Will probably still be Dundee though when we move!

Hi, Ed, good to see you and your lovely DC yesterday. And thank you for the heads up about the Christmas Lights - I did not know about it, saw your message at about 5.30 and zoomed straight out. Just got back in, DS went on pretty much all the rides, and is exhausted! :)

Ooh, just saw the fireworks from our window. Perfect. :)

LEDundeeAngus · 15/11/2013 21:44

Oh, glad that you caught it, Lentil. It was a nice atmosphere. Not as busy as last year, I don't think

popcorngazebo · 18/11/2013 17:17

Hi Lentil - indeed! How goes the house hunt?

LED - I don't do that many crafts with my boy i have to be honest. I do feel bad about it though because I am ALWAYS knitting/crocheting/sewing. I'm great with that sort of thing - crap with 'arty' crafts :D. Looking forward to summer when i can do more stuff like that, just outside....

Hi Ceetee/Cinnamon - don't feel you are crashing at all! I'm in Angus, in Forfar - maybe we should do an Angus meetup at some point (although I haven't done a Dundee meet up yet Blush).

So....when do we think the snow is going to arrive?? I'm excited (this may be because I will get to work from home during it Grin)

LentilAsAnything · 18/11/2013 20:18

I am grateful, LED, DS had a great time on the rides! and we love the lights. Thanks for letting us know.

House hunt is slow, popcorn. We lost the one we quite liked, not too disappointed as we didn't absolutely love it. I doubt now we will find something before Xmas, as I think now people will wait to put their home on the market til the new year. Oh well.

Errolite · 21/11/2013 11:24

Hello, did you guys know that there is a chocolate festival on in perth this weekend? I will definitely be there, how much chocolates are left after I've been is the question....

CinnamonWitch · 21/11/2013 16:51

Sounds tasty Errol, I don't think I'll be able to go so you can have my share Wink

ceetee79 · 22/11/2013 06:48

A chocolate festival??!! I think that's my weekend sorted!

LEDundeeAngus · 25/11/2013 21:30

I missed the chocolate festival - I did want to go but got stuck at home sorting out the bedroom. I sneaked out, leaving chaos, for a couple of hours on Saturday and discovered a braw wee gift shop - which I blogged about today.

Have you noticed that we have a few new buttons to be pressed? We've got a new Talk button on the homepage and a sign up to the newsletter button. The idea is that I send out a wee newsletter every month to let you know what is going on, meet ups, link to blogs etc

Do sign up so that I can test it. You can be my guinea pigs!

ceetee79 · 25/11/2013 22:27

Ooh, we went to the chocolate festival! There weren't loads of stalls but we did get Nutella crepes- vg!! :-)

LEDundeeAngus · 27/11/2013 08:00

I hate Nutella, but love crepes. Sugar and cinnamon for me, please.

How are you all doing this week? I am putting some listings up for restaurants and local shops this week. Next weekend is the first Small Business Saturday and we want to support our local businesses.

If you have any local businesses, who would appreciate a plug on the blog, let me know.

Other than that, I am thinking today might be a PJ Day.

popcorngazebo · 02/12/2013 14:11

Chocolate festival?! Man!! It was my birthday too last week (well last Friday) would have been a great thing to do!

LentilAsAnything · 02/12/2013 23:59

Been quiet in here!
Happy belated birthday, popcorn. Thanks

Errolite · 06/12/2013 15:56

Hello all!

Any recommendations for soft play over Xmas and new year, DS will need to be exercised.....

LentilAsAnything · 06/12/2013 16:15

My DS prefers the pirate one, as they have the little cars they can sit on and zoom about on. He's three. How old is your son? www.piratesisland.co.uk

Errolite · 07/12/2013 12:21

Cool thanks lentil, the boy is two Smile

LEDundeeAngus · 11/12/2013 22:01

Hi all. How are you all doing?

Not been to a indoor playpark for ages, Errol. Mine are getting a bit big for them now. We've been to the one that Lentil linked to a while ago and it was fine.

How is the Xmas shopping doing? I have got the main presents but still need to get some stocking fillers. And somethign for my Dad, who is always difficult to buy for.

LentilAsAnything · 11/12/2013 22:55

Hello, Famous One! :)

I'm all done shopping! Got a couple of things yet to arrive, but I am sorted. Not wrapped anything yet though. DS doesn't go to bed early, and by the time he is tired, so am I. Think I will send him and DH out one day over the weekend so I can get cracking with the wrapping.

I need to get to another Santa's grotto though. I thought we'd get our Santa pic when we did the Santa train on the weekend, but it wasn't really workable. Anyone able to recommend one? I think there may be one in the shopping centre (the not so good one!). Help!

LEDundeeAngus · 11/12/2013 23:05

Oh, I just added a listing for a Santa's Grotto - but it is in the zoo. Not sure if you are a zoo fan.

There is one in the ... what is the Keillor Centre called these days? I think it has a different name. That is probably the one you are meaning.

If you fancy a drive out to Glencarse (on the way to Perth) I am pretty sure that Glendoick Garden Centre has a Santa.

Famous for five minutes, that is me. :)

LEDundeeAngus · 11/12/2013 23:06

Ha. I just googled 'Santa's Grotto Dundee' and came across a thread you posted earlier in the year, Lentil. Didn't think you would be a zoo visitor somehow.

LEDundeeAngus · 12/12/2013 00:15

I've just found this one, Lentil, which has your name written all over it. Botanic Gardens Santa's Grotto.

Xmas Grin
LentilAsAnything · 12/12/2013 11:31

Ha, I forgot I started that post!
Ooh, that botanic gardens one looks grand, thank you!

Yeah, no zoos for us.

You are famous forever! :)

LEDundeeAngus · 12/12/2013 16:00

I thought you would like that. Am considering taking the kids this weekend. They STILL believe... or they pretend that they do. I can't quite believe that no child in DD's P7 class has spilled the beans yet.
