When Two Become One - Dundee and Angus Local CHAT THREAD

The merging of the sites seems to have done funny stuff to active convos on here, so here is a new chat thread for all Mnetters in Dundee and Angus.

How are you all doing? If you don't know me yet, I am the Local Editor of the Dundee Angus site, and will be working hard to get the site filled with great places to visit, tips for classes and shopping, and lots of wine or coffee fueled meetups.

I have just been moving house this past week, which is why it has been very quiet on here, but am hoping to be back up to speed next week.

Soooooooooooooooo, how is the weather where you are? I am in Dundee and it is snowing but not lying. Can you believe it? Where is our Spring gone?

morning all! I may be able to make a meet up on Friday but we ge the keys to our new house on thurs so equally I may just be walking around the house touching things :D

Oooh, exciting for you, Popcorn. You can come and tell us all about the new house. Will you have much renovation to do? We are just waiting for the tiler to come back and finish the bathrooms, and then we are almost done.

Absolutely no renovation to do as it is a completely new build! Just moving in and, well, touching things :D Oh I so can't wait!!!!!!!! (this necessitates many, many exclamation marks so please indulge me ;))

The big knit was fun - was a good chance to catch up with some knitting buddies. BUT we didn't break the record. So you guys can learn for next year and all come!

thanks lentil! unfortunately it didn't go smoothly - combination of banks being slow,builders being impatient and solicitors being put upon. long story short, we get the keys at 10am! very, very excited.

annoyed though by the carpet fitter, he came in, did the job, didn't bother to fit carpets in the cupboards in the back bedroom. we found out when we went in to meet the builders for a handover on thyrs - he didn't bother telling us at the time. he's now claiming that the rooms were bigger than he billed us for (he got the meaaurements off a plan AND went in to measure up the day before) and is trying to charge us £40 to do it. pure raging! anyway, my rant over!

did you guys have a good meetup yest? sorry I couldnt make it.

Oh no. You do not need that kind of hassle, sorry! Things can go so smoothly if everyone does their job! Glad you get the keys today, and enjoy your new home.
Sorry to hear about the carpet fitter too, how frustrating. Wat are you going to do about the lack of carpet in the cupboards?
Hope that's it though, and everything else is straightforward and stress-free.

We did, though it was just LED and me and my little one.

How frustrating! Wonder if your carpet fitter was my carpet fitter, who didn't put the rails across the thresholds or attach the carpet to the stairs, so it just hangs there.

perhaps it was - am curious now! we do not have any luck with,carpet fitters, had a bad timewith them in our last place too! its okay though - am going to write to them and say that im going to contact trading standards if he doesn't pull his finger out. the builders have also really kindly said if theres any similar carpets that gets leftover in the other houses theyll pasa it on to us.

just frustrated - shop was owned by a relative of a friend so i figured they would be trustworrthy! I work in customer service and i would never treat a customer like that! so yes wooden flooring, fitted by yourself!

anyway, onward and upward! moving stuff over today and building Ikea shelves :D havw a good Sunday!

Popcorn, how is the new house?

No news here. Hopefully our property goes on the market at the start of October. We got a quote for painting and it was over £2k, so DH is going to go down and do it himself. Then we are ready to go.
