When Two Become One - Dundee and Angus Local CHAT THREAD

The merging of the sites seems to have done funny stuff to active convos on here, so here is a new chat thread for all Mnetters in Dundee and Angus.

How are you all doing? If you don't know me yet, I am the Local Editor of the Dundee Angus site, and will be working hard to get the site filled with great places to visit, tips for classes and shopping, and lots of wine or coffee fueled meetups.

I have just been moving house this past week, which is why it has been very quiet on here, but am hoping to be back up to speed next week.

Soooooooooooooooo, how is the weather where you are? I am in Dundee and it is snowing but not lying. Can you believe it? Where is our Spring gone?

It was the pic of the group of German visitors. My DC are the two cuties in traditional German dress in front of the Lord Provost. My PILs were on the trip.

We were wandering around town last night buying up copies of the Courier to give to the guests.

They had a good trip, but had a small accident last night - coming around the Swallow roundabout, and a woman drove into the side of their bus. The woman was lightly injured, and lots of damage to her car but the bus passengers were ok.

MIL borrowed a phone to call us, and left a message with 11yo DD saying 'we've been in an accident on our way into Dundee, but we are ok'. She didn't want to use the acquaintance's phone longer so didn't wait to speak to me. We drove out to where we thought the accident might have been and found them.

Just popping my head in to say I see the Courier every day and I must have missed your pic too - which is especially bad because I know what you look like! What was the story? Will raid the paper pile at work to find you... Wink

Olympia - not impressed Biscuit. Too noisy, small, busy, there's water flying everywhere in the toddler pool and when you're forced to wear glasses at the pool in order to not lose your children (I have TERRIBLE eyesight) it results in very wet specs that you can barely see through anyway! Not good. I just felt like I wasn't able to keep very close tabs on my two DDs (3 and 7) because of the noise/dodgy vision/people and kids everywhere. The girls seemed to like it alright I think, but I reckon we'll make more visits to the pools at St Andrews and Perth in future. They're both much more enjoyable IMO.

Good to meet you virtually lentil and welcome to the area! Hope you're househunting is going well. Would it amuse anyone to learn that I have actually put our family forward for the new Kirsty TV show?? Shock Blush Grin

ooooh, that would be fab if you were chosen for the Kirsty show. How exciting.

Still haven't been to Olympia, but thought it looked a bit cramped when we had a look through the windows. That is a shame. We had such high hopes for it.

Who fancies meeting up for a coffee sometime?

LE this reminded me to phone the production team, which I have just done. I think we're not their perfect candidates tbh but we're keeping in touch just in case! Not sure how I feel about being on telly anyway - I'd like Kirstie's advice and expertise about the whole thing, but would be super-embarrassed about friends and family watching me househunt on TV! Blush

I might be able to do a coffee sometime, although my free time on weekdays is a bit limited due to nursery/childminder stuff. Would be nice to catch up with local MNers though.

Hi, MM, thanks for the welcome! I'm sorry you didn't like the Olympia. I only have one child and don't need glasses so I guess it is very easy for me.
Yikes re the tv show. I'd love some Kirsty help (though I do have LE! :)) but I would not want to be on tv. We've found a house we like, just waiting to get ours on the market, so not getting our hopes up in case the timing doesn't work out. Ours needs a little bit of work done before we can get it on the market, and finding a builder to even come and quote has been a real hassle. I am feeling very impatient!

I'd be happy to hook up, but have signed DS up to loads of toddler classes so my time is very restricted now. Wednesdays and Friday afternoons are currently free, though will have DS with me.

Wednesdays and Fridays are ok for me too, between 1-3pm (while dd2 is at nursery) suits best.

how exciting MM - I would love to meet Kristy but I'm not so keen on being on TV. love watching TV with places I know in it though. A friend if my dad's was on grand designs years ago (he was the builder rather than thwqqe owner) and we talked about it for months after !

finished work for the week - currently sitting in our jammies watching the tweenies and trying to decide what to do today :D

Any Friday is currently fine, DS has a swimming lesson at 11, so I will possibly be a bit late, depending on how quickly we can get home and out again, but should be doable.

It's the houses mentioned before, in Stobswell. Not getting carried away, our house isn't even on the market yet, so I don't want to get my hopes up.
