When Two Become One - Dundee and Angus Local CHAT THREAD

The merging of the sites seems to have done funny stuff to active convos on here, so here is a new chat thread for all Mnetters in Dundee and Angus.

How are you all doing? If you don't know me yet, I am the Local Editor of the Dundee Angus site, and will be working hard to get the site filled with great places to visit, tips for classes and shopping, and lots of wine or coffee fueled meetups.

I have just been moving house this past week, which is why it has been very quiet on here, but am hoping to be back up to speed next week.

Soooooooooooooooo, how is the weather where you are? I am in Dundee and it is snowing but not lying. Can you believe it? Where is our Spring gone?

I'm grand thanks, short week at work and off to Glasgow for a wee bit of child-free shopping on Friday, it better not ruddy well rain as I have to be in the office until then!!!

LEDundeeAngus · 30/10/2013 13:35

Ooh, I fancy a bit of Glasgow shopping. Did you see that Glasgow is site of the week. here if you are looking for somewhere to eat

I love Sarti's, but not the one recommended, the one on Renfrew St. We always go there for the pre-theater menu before we drive home. It is a great end to the day. Their Torta della Nonna is to die for.

Is it just me or is it really cold today?

popcorngazebo · 30/10/2013 16:13

Hello Hello Hello! Sorry - I fell off the edge of t'internet, so in love with my new house am I :D

Finally got all the turf down, most of the boxes are unpacked and yes, settling in quite nicely! Commute is killing me but hopefully it won't be much longer (please please please let me get a new job soon!).

How is everybody??

LentilAsAnything · 30/10/2013 19:04

Welcome, Errolite. Do you live in Errol?!

Welcome back, popcorn! It's been ages! Glad you love your new home! Good luck with the job hunt.

Errolite · 31/10/2013 07:14

Good morning all Grin

Yup I live in Errol, although I'm not from here everyone has been welcoming, I should be on the Perthshire boards, but I can see dundee and there doesn't ever seem to be anything happening there!

LEDundeeAngus · 31/10/2013 10:19

Errol
there isn't a Perthshire editor at the moment, so no one is looking after the site. Which is a real shame, cause I think it could be a really good site. There is so much to do in the area.

Popcorn
hello! Welcome back. Do you fancy coming around and sorting out the boxes in my garage for me? I really need to get them shifted so that I can get the car into it now the weather is getting colder. DH had to scrape ice off his car yesterday.

What is everyone up to today? Are you all going guising? We are off to my parent's for a Halloween/Graduation party. My SIL has her graduation today .

LEDundeeAngus · 08/11/2013 17:24

Bumping this because of the AIBU thread.

If you build it, they will come

Oh yeah...that thread, it's been a bit of a week....

LentilAsAnything · 09/11/2013 00:01

Ooh, images! Yay! :)

Not been on in a while, hi all.

I went on that thread and said nice (and genuine) things. :)

LEDundeeAngus · 09/11/2013 12:03

Thanks, Lentil.

Do you guys have images, or is it just the LE?

LentilAsAnything · 09/11/2013 12:30

Yes, we can do images!

LentilAsAnything · 09/11/2013 21:05

Doesn't it! :)

LEDundeeAngus · 12/11/2013 23:25

Phew. I am all panto-ed out.

Been listing the Pantos in Dundee and Angus tonight. I think I have got them all, but if you noticed any missing give me a shout and I will add them

(resisting the temptation to make 'OH NO SHE WON'T' joke)

LentilAsAnything · 12/11/2013 23:35

Fab, thanks! :)

popcorngazebo · 13/11/2013 10:53

Oooh pantos! Looking forward to that this year!

I really wanted to go the the Singing Kettle (again - we are big fans ;)) but I just really couldn't justify to myself going to an xmas show in November :D.

And LED - no. I don't think I'm going to have fully unpacked for about another 6 months so no, not doing anyone else's :D :D.

How is everyone this morning?

LentilAsAnything · 13/11/2013 14:59

Ha, that's exactly what I thought when I saw the SK was in November. I am Christmas crazy but I do like to start in December, and not before.
There are other venues in Scotland for December, doable!

Have you discovered SK yet then? You can visit the shop over in Fife.

We always used to go to their shows, but the kids are a bit old for them now.

Popcorn
We've been pretty much finished with renovations for months, and have JUST had the tilers in this week to finish the bathrooms. Am not ordering curtain rails and mirrors.

LentilAsAnything · 13/11/2013 18:01

Not been, not heard of it til I moved here, but my husband told me about it, as he is a Scot.

popcorngazebo · 14/11/2013 15:03

Yeh my birthday is the end of the month and I have a strict no Christmas until after then rule!

The SK are a great show. I remember them when I was a kid and I love that they are still around now that I have a kid too. Thoroughly recommended (just not for an xmas show in Nov!).

I see they are in perth on xmas eve....hmmm....

Bit bored today - been out for a big walk, did all our messages, made some fingers puppets from a kit he got given (so stressful - no no more glue! Put the glue down! etc etc). Chilling out now and watching a bit of scooby doo and hoping he/I will go off for a sleep...

ceetee79 · 14/11/2013 22:43

Hi!

I feel like I'm crashing into your conversation but I will anyway!

I posted on the friendship bench bit too. I'm mum to an 18 week old very cute wee boy and was just looking for any local mums with wee ones who might like to do some baby friendly outings? We're in Arbroath and haven't gotten around to going to any groups (I do have great intentions to book baby signing though!) all my mum friends are dotted around the country so it would be lovely to have some closer ones!!

Anyway I'll stop waffling!

Carol :-)

LEDundeeAngus · 15/11/2013 00:38

Hello Ceetee. Don't feel like you are crashing into our conversation - and if there are other lurkers out there, do come and say hello!

It may look like we are old friends, but we haven't even got around to meeting up yet! Aside from me and Lentil, that is. (Lovely to see you again, L)

We do have more folk up in Arbroath, so we should manage to get a meetup organised.

Popcorn
you are good, to do stuff like crafts. I didn't do any of that at home, and always took the kids to playgroups to do messy stuff. We are glitter free, and proud of it! Its the devils own stuff, that glitter!
