OP posts:
sfxmum · 12/08/2011 18:42

looks like Sparkle is not going to make itSad dd sobbed when we left him there, last ditch effort but looks like he will either die overnight or if not improving by morning he will be put to sleep, dd cried all the way homeSad

tillyfernackerpants · 12/08/2011 19:29

sfx, oh dear, hope Sparkle makes it

Copper, haven't read the Earthsea books yet but have heard good things about them. Have started reading the Game of Thrones books, v good

House is v quiet tonight, dh is off doing best man duties (wedding tomorrow), boys have gone up to my mums for the weekend. Can't remember the last time I had the house to myself!

UptoapointLordCopper · 12/08/2011 21:25

sfx - poor DD, poor Sparkle. Sad

Another book I really enjoyed which Earthsea reminded me of is Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. Now I'm left with only one book to read and it's Martin Amis. We are going to the library tomorrow...

sfxmum · 12/08/2011 21:44

copper I remember I only got half way through that book and dd was born, I have the hard back edition and I was terrified to read it while BF in case it fell on ddBlush what with me being sleep deprived and all
dh has read it since and loved it, as did I, at least the bit I managed.

tilly bit of a treat that is, I am yet to spend a night away from dd let alone be all by myselfGrin

UptoapointLordCopper · 12/08/2011 22:19

Have just spent 30 pounds on the book people website. Shock Only went there to buy Deadly 60 book ...

tillyfernackerpants · 12/08/2011 22:27

lol Copper, I spent £35 in Waterstones the other day!

UptoapointLordCopper · 12/08/2011 23:00

Let's get competitive: I bought 27 books!!! Shock Shock Where will we put them??? All because I am upset by the kids not knowing about centaurs. They only call them horsemen in the Beast Quest books.

sfxmum · 12/08/2011 23:15

copper what you need is a book on Greek myth that dd has can't go in there now to find the actual tittle for a link, will do tomorrow

did anyone watch Newsnight? my word Starkey outdid himself in total titness

Unfortunately Sparkle died, the Vet called and said it was pointless to continue and best to just give overdose and let him goSad so not looking forward to the talk tomorrow morning Sad

tillyfernackerpants · 13/08/2011 09:02

Sfx, poor dd Sad

Copper, you win, I bought 9! I always forget about the Book people but then, when I go book shopping I want them instantly, can't wait for delivery Grin

When I was little I had a fantastic book on greek & roman myths, must see if my parents still have it. Also had a book about fairy tales from around the world which was my favourite, it had the original Little Mermaid story, not the Disney-fied version. I know they still have that so think I'll bring it home.

sfxmum · 13/08/2011 09:55

The Greek Myth book

dd is taking the news well, glad we discussed it yesterday, she woke up and was jumping up and down, let's visit Sparkle, but then I had to explain, still it was ok, now preparing to pick him up and bury

UptoapointLordCopper · 13/08/2011 11:03

sfx - Poor DD. Sad

We ordered these but will see what they are like. If no good we'll try your recommendations.

We are all hanging around restlessly due to all of us, apart from DH, having just finished our books. Need to go to library later. Don't think I can read Amis straight through without plenty of breaks to read other things!

Aha! Postie here and Beano has arrived. That would stop questioning of when Deadly 60 book is going to arrive. That reminds me - DS2 still owes me 1.50. Hmm Grin

sfxmum · 13/08/2011 12:50

what I like most about the one I linked are the illustrations and the clear way in which it is written, not babying it up

dd already talking of getting new GPiggy so that Petal does not get sad and lonely

UptoapointLordCopper · 13/08/2011 16:44

I have looted the library. Smile Don't know how many books I got out, but we have three cards...

sfxmum · 13/08/2011 17:58

you cheeky monkeyGrin I am in a lazy reading mood finding it hard to focus even when enjoying the book, hopefully the holiday will sort that out

UptoapointLordCopper · 13/08/2011 18:06

No cheekiness sfx - one card each but DH's card was lost. Got more earthsea books. Amis can wait.

sfxmum · 13/08/2011 18:20

we have 3 also it makes things simpler, noticed they have started charging when they send notices of late books, children ones.

DH off to watch HP wearing his Gryffindor T-shirt Smile

UptoapointLordCopper · 14/08/2011 16:53

Hello!

Slightly disastrous trip to pub for lunch - kids terrified of wasps ...

Now planning day trips for week to come. Has anyone done day trip to Paris?

UptoapointLordCopper · 14/08/2011 17:03

Just looked. 400 quid for a day trip. Shock Shock

We'll stick to trips to the beach ...

sfxmum · 14/08/2011 17:05

I did a day trip to Paris with dh 12yrs ago for his 30th, we took a very early Eurostar had a very nice breakfast on board and returned at supper time nice 3 course meal, 1st class, we walked about all day it was May

slept very little last night horrible insomnia, dh took dd to riding and so on but apparently it turned into a traumatic and tiring day.

I shouted at my phone nearly put it in the bin then went running, feel much better even though not much actual running as people walking about slowly take over the pavementHmm

swimming week starts tomorrow dd really does not want it, I hope the 1st lesson is a success otherwise the week will,be fraught, so glad we are nearly about to go away

hope everyone is having a nice weekend

UptoapointLordCopper · 14/08/2011 18:41

Where are you going, sfx?

Cello practice straightforward and without moaning/screaming/"Oh I can't do this"/"Oh it's too hard"/"It's so unfair"/"BUT I DID"/etc. Shock Shock Though this followed a horrific tea time when two monkeys either hit each other/hated each other/provoked each other and generally monkeyed about.

Harvested six raspberry. Smile

sfxmum · 14/08/2011 19:03

We are off to Wales on Saturday doubtless it will be rainingGrin

DD is tired and over emotional looking to calm things down now and get her to bed

tillyfernackerpants · 15/08/2011 09:03

Sfx, how's dd? And which part of Wales are you going to?

We've had a lovely child-free weekend, wedding was good and it's always nice to catch up with uni friends who we don't see that often! And last night we went to see Rise of the Planet of the Apes which is quite good. Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) was in it, with a tan which made me Smile, he must love not having to stay pale white now! But I've missed the dses, yesterday the house was just too quiet so I'm off up to my parents to see them & spend the week there.

sfxmum · 15/08/2011 10:00

Hello Tilly sounds lovely. We will be near Cardigan on the edge of Pembrokeshire national park. Dd delighted there is a horse farm a few minutes away.
Regarding the piggies it gave rise to lots of conversations but she seems to be adapting well. We know have a new member of the family. Seems hasty but the other one would be lonely

sfxmum · 15/08/2011 12:02

Btw first swim lesson today great success the teacher is perfect and heard dd telling him she could hardly wait for tomorrow. Great relief

UptoapointLordCopper · 15/08/2011 20:59

Day trip to West Wittering. Very nice!
