ooh the excitement of starting a new thread Grin

My mums caravan is about 15 min drive from West wittering (we've just got back - could have met you there!). Nice isn't it.

UptoapointLordCopper · 16/08/2011 09:27

Kew - I'd be the hysterical woman by the edge of the sea yelling at a small boy to not go out too far ... Who would have thought the boy who would not put his feet even in the water 2 years ago would go out battling waves?

sfxmum · 16/08/2011 15:52

hello hope everyone is well, dd is now begging me to book swimming lessons there and preferably with same teacher Smile makes a change

Kora · 16/08/2011 20:54

Hi everyone! Tilly - seems we had similar weekends! Managed to get through big wedding do on Friday without DCs and without drinking too much Wine (or at least pretending). Great fun. Even danced (scary for others Grin). Nice to see girls when got home again though - missed them, even though was rather nice to have proper lie-in on Saturday.

So sorry to hear about sparkle sfx, v Sad. Hope new piggy is settling in well. Glad swimming lessons are good. Our DD1 has transformed her view of swimming recently, right teacher is so important. Heard about starkey - unbelievable prat, so "educated" but so ignorant.

Copper - I keep hearing about Ursula Le Guin. What should I be reading of hers? I've started reading Quicksilver by Neal Stephenson but generally in lazy mood and put off slightly by feeling that it's a "history fiction novel" trying hard to "teach me something". Ah well, DH swears it's a good story too. Tilly - DH is now flying through game of thrones, must be good!

Kew - tell me more about caravan near West Wittering, think you've mentioned it before. Hope you and DS had a lovely time! We'd love to go there as it seems to be a great beach for little ones. Is it over-ambitious to go with two DDs, including a 13 month old...? Maybe we should wait a bit... Hmm

tillyfernackerpants · 16/08/2011 21:08

Kora, Game of Thrones is v good, have bought the next two to read now!

Just heard the toy library is to close after Dec, its two major funders have pulled their funding Sad

UptoapointLordCopper · 16/08/2011 21:33

Hello!

Kora - I picked up "A wizard of earthsea" last weekend and am now on fourth Ursula Le Guin book.

Tilly - saw your pics on FB. Looking good!

I'll book swimming lessons for DS1 next year, I think.

More than half way through hols! Want longer hols. Sad

sfxmum · 17/08/2011 17:18

apparently it will be raining a lot tomorrow and that is when we are going to Legoland Hmm anyway wet play it is

kora thanks

keeping busy this week barely stopped at home, we all need a holiday

UptoapointLordCopper · 17/08/2011 21:25

Day trip to Littlehampton. Smile But witnessed grounding of ship.

sfx - have fun in Legoland!

sfxmum · 17/08/2011 21:28

exciting copper? or a bit scary?

have you seen the golden postboxes in Kew? peek on my FB profile

UptoapointLordCopper · 17/08/2011 21:31

sfx - saw the golden postbox. Interesting! Grounding was quiet - one second ship was coming in nice and straight, the next it just looked like it was turning and then it was still.

sfxmum · 17/08/2011 21:58

it is always interesting watching ships come into port, especially in a storm, hope not too much damage was done

UptoapointLordCopper · 17/08/2011 22:31

Here. First time ever being present in news event!

sfxmum · 18/08/2011 15:22

Omg it is wet in Legoland Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 18/08/2011 15:44

They have big full-body dryers there. Did you have a go? Grin

Kora · 18/08/2011 19:52

Hope you didn't get too wet in Legoland! I really want to take the DDs is it good? Full body dryers - wahey! I have a summer cold. Drat. And it's made me really hungry all the time, which I'm enjoying but fear will pay for it. Double drat...

sfxmum · 18/08/2011 20:04

hello we were very wet indeed so wet that we might as well have dived in the lagoonGrin glad I took spare clothing
we had a nice time, it is fun enough for little ones and teenagers alike
but go on a warm drier day

would definitely go back

we are now dry, warm and fed, so once all settled off to bed the child goes, I think after swimming tomorrow we shall have a quiet day packing

copper did not know about the driers very convenient they would have been, btw staff were nice cheerful and helpful

Kora · 18/08/2011 20:07

Ooh packing, are you off on hols soon (sorry, must have missed that, brain like a sieve)?

sfxmum · 18/08/2011 20:10

off to Wales on Saturday for a week, do keep up dear, it is the event of the year Grin

Kora · 18/08/2011 20:14

Sadly gave up on keeping up ages ago! If I don't lose my umbrella during the course of a train journey, I'm doing well! Grin Hope the sun comes back out for you in Wales. Smile

sfxmum · 19/08/2011 12:47

Now today would have been a good day for Legoland. Anyhow as it is swimming went well I am sorry it is no more, weirdly dd swims under water but is reluctant to do same above water Hmm

Off home to clean organise and pack

UptoapointLordCopper · 19/08/2011 19:15

Nice day. Park in the morning, fish and chips for lunch, park in the afternoon. And our big box of books have arrived. Deadly 60 book looks good! Pictures of scary animals. Grin

sfxmum · 19/08/2011 20:44

sounds like a nice day, apparently the local fish and chip shop is good so that might be tomorrows dinner when we eventually arrive. dh seems to have had a difficult day at work and brought home the work laptop, I expect he will be working until the wee small hrsHmm it will make me very nervous on the long drive tomorrow, will insist on lots of stops

vbus · 20/08/2011 09:59

Hello all

Back from hols. Had a great time apart from MIL got shingles while were away and was really suffering, ouch

Had a whirlwind few days since our return, neighbour's solictor wanted us to foot her bill for £600 Shock After lots of stress and research on our part she called round last night. After 4mths of giving us the evils she now wants to be bezzie mates Shock and we have resolved issue without legals. hoping she'll drop the charge but at least it's a step in the right direction and hoepfully final hurdle now crossed before building can commence.

Garden has gone crazy, made 2 pots of jam with remianing damson crops yesterday and made moussaka with aubergines from FIL. Harvested more courgettes, starting to OD on them now Grin

Off to Dh work's paryty and then onto a 40th this evening

hope everyone well, what has been happening?
Sfx - Have a great trip Smile
