Happy Diwali to all Smile

OP posts:
sfxmum · 26/10/2011 10:09

and happy Diwali to you too, and btw what is the definitive pronunciation? as a V or W sound?

tilly sorry we missed you yesterday, have not seen you in ages, but I gather you had more pressing matters to attend to Grin congratulations

we, as usual stayed up late ish and up late this morning, will head out to Kingston for a spot of shopping later and then swimming lesson late in the day.

dh will be away from Friday until Sunday, he booked himself into an hotel near work as the heat picks up, poor dh, he is busy installing video call on his phone which is compatible with mine(getting stressed over it) so he can call home and see us, I mentioned it was only a couple of days but he reckons he will miss us too much, bless

Kewcumber · 26/10/2011 10:44

happy diwali - we are missing it in sunny Majorca, but sitting ion the sun on the terrace overlooking to harbour and bay and hearing the swish of the pool is some consolation.

Very quick post. Important question - if I move to mortlake will I have to name change?

stepfordwife · 26/10/2011 12:07

happy diwali!
hope all well
pissing down with rain - yep, it's half-term
very Envy in fact positively [henvy] at kew sunning her cumbers...
even more quick, important question...are you moving (very, very close) to my manor......?!

and tilly.....do share with the class Wink Smile
kids driving me mad but still better than routine of school, isn't it?

vbus - so sorry you're having such a hassle with your neighbour. it's stressful enough (at times) having building work, never mind that sort of nonsense. just keep telling yourself: "It WILL be worth it." well, that was my mantra along with:"Is 5pm too early for wine o'clock..it IS Friday.." Grin

have a good day, all
toodlepip

UptoapointLordCopper · 26/10/2011 12:19

It's NOT Friday, is it? Confused

stepfordwife · 26/10/2011 14:59

.......feels like it SHOULD be Friday, Copper!

ahh, I see, tilly..happy (belated) anniversary [hsmile]. The only reason I remember mine is that it's on St Patrick's Day!

Well just gt nice and soggy in our mooch about, helped by ds1 who tried to jump over a huge puddle and landed slap bang in the middle of it, drenching us.
back home, heating on and muffins toasting.

UptoapointLordCopper · 26/10/2011 15:42

It bloody feels like Friday.

I only know when our anniversary is because it's engraved in the rings...

vbus · 26/10/2011 16:16

Tilly - Happy anniversary!

kew - glad you're enjoying your hols, do you have some news?!

Sfx - we use V prononciation but there are alternate spellings depending on region and even generation

Steppie - hello, hope you're warming up and enjoying toasted goodies

been to really good soft play in Walton today with some friends. The soft play area was soundrpoofed and we could sit outside so we didn't have to listen to the kids screaming [hgrin]

OP posts:
vbus · 26/10/2011 16:21

Copper - it's nearly Friday, don't wish the week away!

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 26/10/2011 16:51

We call it Deepavali in Malaysia.

sfxmum · 26/10/2011 19:30

vbus thanks that makes all much clearer Grin

steppie no one ever grows out of jumping in puddles and all the better fo it

KewC yes CucumberDeMort you will be pleased to know it is pissing down here, enjoy the sun (and that is an order)

copper meant to say dd was talking about your DSs and their joke predilection, very impressed she was

we shopped and got wet then dd got a bit more wet at her swimming lesson, change of plan tomorrow, was meant to stay home but alas sh will be working from home so we have to make ourselves scarce

tillyfernackerpants · 26/10/2011 21:01

Hi all, sorry for absence & sorry to have missed the meet-up, I've been trying to stay off the internet so I can get my course finished once & for all.

Thanks for anniversary wishes, its engraved on our rings also but we still forget about it!!

Island, hope your dd is ok

vbus, how's neighbour relations?!

UptoapointLordCopper · 26/10/2011 21:58

Our electric toothbrush has gone missing. Hmm Reminds me of the missing toaster thread.

Where on earth can it be? We've had the cleaner in, and we've had 4 children in the house this afternoon. But who would be interested in an electric toothbrush?

Confused
sfxmum · 27/10/2011 10:15

copper has the toothbrush put in an appearance yet?

tilly well done on focusing on course, must be great to see the finish line

here we are about to host a play date I am dreading it
dh decided to go to work in the end

UptoapointLordCopper · 27/10/2011 10:59

I found it, in the washing machine with the cleaning rags. Cleaner must have finished up in a hurry and chucked it all in. It could have broken the washing machine. Have sent shirty text to her.

I am officially the thing-finder general. I am the bloody best in this game. > (But slightly worried that I could have thought to look in the washing machine. What sort of twisted mind is that?)

Okawari for lunch, apparently. Says the bloody kids.

vbus · 27/10/2011 14:45

Copper - at least you found it. Reminds me when DS1 aged 18mths put DH's new mobile phone in washing machine and was watching it go round and round Shock Luckily I managed to stop wash and rescue it!

Sfx - good luck with playdate, hope it goes well

Tilly - Glad you're getting your head down to finish your studies. All quiet on neighbour front since Monday when I told her any more hold ups then she'd be liable for fees and delay costs. She has since given acess and now walls are all built, phew. I'm still nervous though as she has gone quiet, she's determined to pin something on the builders and I'm just waiting for one more huge firework to go off!

OP posts:
sfxmum · 27/10/2011 15:10

all quiet now

vbus glad to hear it has gone quiet sympathise with the dread of too quietGrin

copper how odd

at some point I might manage to pop to shop quickly with dd although we both feel like a quiet day

UptoapointLordCopper · 27/10/2011 15:55

Our quiet day so far involved going to the GP, buying gloves (of which we have already lost one), returning library books, eating lunch, and buying more supplies. Now kids upstairs playing hama beads and I'm considering combining baking dinner with another malt loaf recipe.

UptoapointLordCopper · 27/10/2011 15:57

sfx - have you looked at the playdates thread? Grin

tillyfernackerpants · 27/10/2011 15:59

We went to snakes & ladders today, I swear it is hell on earth! Ds2 plays happily until he makes a dash for the big section, then bawls his head off when I catch him & make him go back into the toddler section, repeat every 15 mins or so!!

vbus, glad things are quiet so far, fingers crossed they stay that way.

Must go & start tea - sausages & mash today

UptoapointLordCopper · 27/10/2011 16:53

Snakes and ladders is truly hell on earth. Which ties in with what I'm reading now: Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief. Very good fun. Grin

Chicken and mushrooms and malt loaf baking in oven. Not all in the same tray, I hasten to add.

vbus · 27/10/2011 16:59

Tilly - you're brave going there during the hols Grin The one I went to yesterday was heaps better and clean [hgrin]

We are having gnochi for tea although DS2 said he doesn't want anything to eat Hmm DS1 seems to have enjoyed koosa kids especially the gokarts and he has come back with a pumpkin made out of clay. I have been trawling flooring shops, cannot decide whether to go for tiles or wood floors - help!

OP posts:
sfxmum · 27/10/2011 17:07

snakes and ladders we have been a total of 2 times no no no no Grin
I found a giant poo when I went looking for dd who was sobbing from behind the wire thinking she was lost

copper I am sure there are play dates far worst than mine, my problem with this particular mother daughter combo is that mum never directs advises or admonishes the child and if she ever says no it is followed by piercing screams and a yes

dh super late again today so probably cooking to keep, I could nap, have been feeling quite run down lately, must pop to GP and see what is up, possibly Iron levels dropping again

UptoapointLordCopper · 27/10/2011 17:19

I did have a nap earlier. Decided to hell with work. Catch up next week.

sfx - that's the mother-daughter pair you mentioned at kew? Scary.

Vbus - wood floor.

UptoapointLordCopper · 27/10/2011 17:20

vbus - in fact I would go as far as to say laminate. So convenient. Grin
