ooh the excitement of starting a new thread Grin

It was odd driving back to London and seeing the really dark clouds ahead/above very ominous, hopefully it will improve for the last week of holidays

UptoapointLordCopper · 27/08/2011 22:07

sfx - holiday looks good. DS1 has Peter Storm 3-in-1 and DS2 has Regatta 3-in-1 and both have stood up to serious downpour.

Not going to drive to Cambridge - going to get train. Fast train only 50 minutes from King's Cross, allegedly.

sfxmum · 27/08/2011 22:31

thanks copper those 2 brands are on my list, found a discount outlet for Regatta, must keep an eye n bargains

trains can be reliable Grin

UptoapointLordCopper · 27/08/2011 22:39

We got the Regatta from www.waterproofworld.co.uk/ and the Peter Storm from Blacks when it was on sale. Waterproofworld was very efficient.

And so to bed. >

UptoapointLordCopper · 28/08/2011 17:51

tilly - just sent you text. 7pm at Waterman's restaurant?

tillyfernackerpants · 28/08/2011 17:58

copper, haven't got message but yes to 7pm at restaurant! Looking forward to it, must remember a packet of tissues though Grin

vbus · 29/08/2011 19:12

Tilly/Copper - hope you enjoyed the film

Copper - have not been to museum, was it any good?

Sfx -hols sound fab, welcome back!

We had child free wedding yesterday which was brill, nice to catch up with lots of friends from way back. Highlight of wedding was when I requested RATM for band's final song (obviously had way too many drinks by this point Blush) but band obliged and everyone had a riot, bride came and thanked me afterwards for requesting it Grin I suppose it's better than finshing off with Angels or something sentimental. Got in at 2am but thankfully had a lie in to sleep it off, early night tonight

Can't believe DS2 starting preschool tomorrow Shock Sad Smile

OP posts:
sfxmum · 29/08/2011 20:49

hello

Tilly/Copper do tell Smile

Vbus sounds like a good party
and OMG pre school for DS2! time flies

when is everyone back to school? we start on the 7th, still have shoes to buy and a couple of small items. dh is back to work tomorrow so today very stressy

My nephew turned 18 on Friday, saw him yesterday, it is very weird that both the children are now officially adults by heck I used to change their nappies not so long agoShock

I am shockingly out of shape and will have to train properly for the 10k in October but realistically can only start once dd is at school

UptoapointLordCopper · 30/08/2011 08:24

Hello!

HP was good, but spent yesterday completely exhausted. Getting too old for all this excitement!

Don't know when we are back to school. Must check. Have already checked that we actually don't need any new stuff for school, apart from possibly spare trousers for DS1 and bigger school jumpers for DS2. Phew!

Must work today. Students handing in drafts in droves for things due on Friday. Do they expect me to work over bank holiday? Honestly.

Left my raincoat at Ikea last week. Sad The all important question now is whether I need a new raincoat...

Kewcumber · 30/08/2011 12:01

back fromo a good weekend camping - the last of the year as I'm a fair weather camper (not that it has been fair weather this summer!).

DS has Peter storm rain jacket which is great off ebay - glad you enjoyed Wales sfx. WE are supposed to be going down for a couple of days today but can't get hold of them so suspect we may have to delay going down.

Finished school shopping last week [smug] mostly because I knew I was busy this week.

Last few weeks of holidays have become manically full.

islandhaze · 30/08/2011 15:15

Hello :)

Good to see everybody had a nice vacation...mine starts Sep5th, when DD1 starts school Grin ...ran out of ideas, power and running out of patience to go somewhere...Confused
We did most of the school shopping already, was very exiting ! as we never wore uniform before, so ready for school :)

Anybody up for a meeting before next week? Wine Biscuit

Kora · 30/08/2011 19:31

Hello everyone! Quick wave to say hope your summers have been good - looks like people have had some nice hols despite mixed weather! Is it autumn already? Countdown to first day for DD1 at school has begun, not for a few weeks so lots of time to get properly nervous Confused Finished all shopping though, at least think so. Thanks for all your help. Let me know if you're up for an evening meeting one day, think I'll need Wine!!

UptoapointLordCopper · 31/08/2011 07:27

Hello!

Night out would be nice but not this week - going to eat super spicy food with friend. Smile

No news of my raincoat - do I give it up as gone forever? Shall I get a new one?

Our stupid fridge has decided to freeze all our vegetable, after having turn the milk sour last week. Angry It's not long for this world, I tell you. >

tillyfernackerpants · 31/08/2011 08:19

Night out would be nice but later in Sept would be better for me

Vbus, wedding sounds like fun!

Enjoyed HP, food good as well

Am in Norfolk & having to use dh's phone as mine doesn't have any signal!

vbus · 31/08/2011 14:17

Hello

night out is well overdue, will start thread soon

Kew - nice to see you yesterday, have a good trip Smile

tilly - enjoy Norfolk!

Copper - raincoats always required whilst living in the UK Grin DS1 will prob be ok this autumn with his waterproof, I bought it a bit big when he was nearly 3 and may just do one more season, it's been brill

sfx - I know what you mean about getting back to fitness, I want to try and get into some routine when school starts.

Islandhaze - enjoy your hols, where are you going?

Feeling quite spaced, lost house keys yesterday but now they've turned up, phew but starting to panic can't find DS1 target book anywhere Confused Still need to buy some PE pumps and label new bits of uniform. Not sure when as we're off to Leeds tomorrow. At least DS2 loved preschool, he was dressed as Buzz lightyear when I came to collect him and he refused to leave Grin

islandhaze · 31/08/2011 14:32

Hello!
Vbus, i am not going anywhere, just my DD1 is going to school, and thats a vacation to me :)))) although we are traveling to Danmark for a weekend on the 9th.

Sfx, is your DD still going to swimming and dance lessons?

sfxmum · 31/08/2011 16:49

hello all

tilly enjoy the wildsGrin

kora no panic just talk to us, we all did virtual hand holding on first days

island hello I know what you meanSmile I am still looking for a dance class yes and might also still get a place for wednesday night swimming but it cutting it fine atm, I am slightly reluctant to get her into a 10 group instead of the 6, which are all fully booked, my hope now is for one to one lesson if we can get it at some point during this term and then lessons booked early next term

yes to night out, it would be nice, the last few have been very entertaining and pleasant

just back from shoe shopping, dd's feet continue to grow at alarming rate, her feet are pretty much teen size now which make it hard to find suitable shoes, but bless one small step they do come up with the goods.
still waiting for the trainers.
dd comment 'i like absolutely nothing about those shoes' Hmm and 'i am not having those I would look stupid in them' okm then

also last night dd got all existential and decided to worry about death sometime after going to bed and did not properly get to sleep until 11, what on earth will she be like as a teen

sfxmum · 31/08/2011 16:55

meant to say vbus glad ds2 liked pre school, always a relief
first run after about 6 weeks tomorrow morning, I am fairly sure it will be painful and frustrating, to be honest I never quite recovered from since February and that surgery thing

sfxmum · 31/08/2011 16:55

form not from

vbus · 31/08/2011 18:15

Sfx - Shock at DD's bedtime banter, it's funny the things that stress them out. DS1 stopped climbing a tree as he saw a red ant on the tree and he thought if it bit him he would die

Islandhaze Wink Grin

Might try and go for short run tonight depending on when DH is back. Soooo tired but want to do something

Kora · 31/08/2011 20:46

I've signed up! Thanks for getting ball rolling vbus Smile Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Sfx, you've probably checked them already but, just in case, in Kew there is the strand ballet school (or they do flamenco if you're feeling iberian peninsula) or there is the Raleigh Road which does ballet, modern and tap. Hope you find something which appeals! Poor DD with existential thoughts. I still remember a primary school trip to London Planetarium where we 7 year olds were told that one day the sun was going to swallow up our galaxy and all life as we knew it would end forever; for a few minutes we were all in Shock but soon trivia took over again, phew...

islandhaze · 31/08/2011 21:44

I've signed up too!!! Thank you Vbus ;)
Sfx, poor DD, all these thoughts...When i was a child i used to sleep with my legs crossed, so i wouldnt look like i am dead Confused
I was thinking and thinking about all after school classes for DD1, and i think we will take it very easy with everything until we settle down with the school. and next term we will catch up :) (she maybe will go to the perform class here in Kew)
I am so out of shape too...:( i miss tennis so bad :(

UptoapointLordCopper · 31/08/2011 22:04

Will check dates and sign up later.

We don't have after school activities for up to Year 2. Will consider for DS1 this year. Year 3!!! Shock Shock How has time gone so fast!?

Depressed already thinking about school. They get all the fun bit and we only get the tired grumpy bit. Not fair.

islandhaze · 31/08/2011 22:46

Copper, i do agree that here in UK kids have a very little vacation. But my DD is on vacation from mid May ;) And we were horrible this year with the moving and no fun vacation. Hope to catch up next summer :)
