Hello!

Been to party and had a fair bit to drink but nice people nice conversation.

sfx - hope the weather brightens up your way. We had great downpour for a couple of hours in the afternoon but then turned bright and sunny again.

vbus - what's that saying about keeping your friends close but your enemy closer? Wink

So should I prune off all those branches of my tomato plants that look like it's too late to be letting the fruits ripen? Some of them are only just turning red and I'm worried it's too late.

vbus · 21/08/2011 13:39

Copper - cut back if you need to. We pruned ours back as branches grown so much and got intertwined with beans plants! We have loads of tomatoes but all still green. I'm sure they didn't turn red last sumer til towards end of Aug Hmm

Sfx - hope the rest of journey was trouble free

Afternoon party was great despite the ridiculous downpour, lucky they had marquees over most stuff. Ds1 loved the dodgems and DS2 had spiderman face paint Grin 40th in evening was lovely after weather had cleared up was nice to be in a sunny garden.

DS1 had party this morning too, just back from that but party carrying on to pub so may head out again soon after a breather

Been to new playground (new to us) in bushy park today, it was really good fun and relatively quiet

Hope everyone enjoying the sun before the rains come in

UptoapointLordCopper · 22/08/2011 17:01

In office all day. Angry

vbus - what playground in Bushy park? The one with teh enormous sandpit or do they have new stuff?

Checking travel news before heading home...

vbus · 22/08/2011 20:12

Copper - it was revamped playground by skateboard park, it now has cafe there too and enough stuff to keep the DC amused. I'll defo go back there

I knwo I'ma bit behind the times but going to start reading the Millenium triliogy finally

Vbus, glad you had a nice holiday, hope MIL is feeling better

Copper, shall I book tickets for HP? Its on at the Watermans, Sun 8.30pm

UptoapointLordCopper · 23/08/2011 07:23

Good morning!

tilly - let's go for HP at the Waterman's! I like the Waterman centre. Curry beforehand?

I've finished all my Earthsea books. Amis book has moved from shelf to kitchen table and I've read 7 pages. But I'm now tempted to reread the how to train your dragon books ...

But must do some work before all that ...

vbus · 23/08/2011 21:26

Copper - I'd like to get hold of the Dragon books, next on my book purchase list

Tilly - thanks, will get MIL update tomorrow when she calls. Hope you're having fun at your parents

Enjoy the film both of you Envy almost tempted to see it again!

Went to Lookout today, it was fab but busy and soggy outside

OP posts:
tillyfernackerpants · 23/08/2011 21:33

I like the Dragon books, also liked the film!

Vbus, you're welcome to join us on Sunday Grin

vbus · 24/08/2011 09:03

Thanks but friends you met are getting married this Sunday. Still secretly gutted we can't go and see Muse!

DS1 off to kids camp and going to take DS2 tomy parents so I can finally go to gym and badly need to sort out loads of admin at home, dull but needs doing

UptoapointLordCopper · 24/08/2011 20:08

Hello!

Out all day and fed dinner. Smile

The sea water we got back from Littlehampton has finally all evaporated and we have verified that there is salt left. One of DS1's "experiments". Hmm

Has anyone seen tomorrow's weather forecast? Hailstorm. Shock

vbus · 25/08/2011 08:31

Hail Shock hope not as wanted to go to playground later on

Good little experiment with water!

Had final builder round last night, now Confused as to which one to pick as they both have different strengths....

Ffeeling very lethargic today

tillyfernackerpants · 25/08/2011 13:03

Been to toy library today, found out its likely to shut down Shock, their major funders have refused their application but have only just told them, the funding committee knew back in April so we could've found other sources by now if they'd told us back then Angry. I know its all down to the economic climate & more people needing help but such a shame to lose something that's an established part of the community

Copper, have booked tickets for Sunday. What time do you want to meet? I thought around 7 as that gives us time to order food & eat, not sure how quick the restaurant is there

UptoapointLordCopper · 25/08/2011 15:06

Hello!

Went out in the rain to Natural History Museum but all lovely sunshine when we came out!

Tilly - 7pm is good. Can do even earlier, which I might do if driven mad not needed at home.

UptoapointLordCopper · 25/08/2011 15:11

Not earlier at the WAterman's obviously. Perhaps a browse in Ealing or Richmond.

vbus · 25/08/2011 19:30

Tilly - that is Sad to hear. Also Shock Toy Library is closing too, especially as it seem so popular, where will we go for our tea and cake?

Copper - glad you had fun at History museum, was it packed?

Had two playdates today with DS2 friends in morning and then with DS1 friend in afternoon. All went well and good for DS1 to spend time with his peers

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 26/08/2011 07:48

They wanted to close down Hanwell library but then changed their mind. Hopefully something will happen to stop closing of toy library.

vbus - museum was so so so packed. Friends from Malaysia were surprised. Also surprised at it being free, and that they provided picnic area!

Had to chop off lots of the tomato plants. Seem to be infected with something. But some bunches of tomatoes turning red slowly ...

tillyfernackerpants · 26/08/2011 08:32

Yep, they wanted to close down Brentford library as well but we managed to stop that. Toy library is all grant-funded though and separate from the council. Even if they do manage to save it, I think the two people who run it are fed up and will probably move on.

vbus, I don't know where we'll go now Confused

vbus · 26/08/2011 12:36

Tilly - that is a shame especially when they've known about it for some time Sad
Just realised Ds2 staring preschool next Tues Shock so we'll have to change our meet up day anyway...

Copper - good luck with plants, ours are still green!

I ordered Greek mythology book that someone recommended, it will be right up DS1 street given school theme is based around this and Olympics

Starving, must be time for lunch

OP posts:
UptoapointLordCopper · 26/08/2011 15:15

Took kids to office and stopped by Osterley Park on the way back. Now kids in garden playing in the rain.

Had rather nice and reasonably priced lunch. But forgot to leave tips. Waiting staff so nice as well. Feel guilty. Am I middle class?

sfxmum · 27/08/2011 12:37

Hello on our way back in lovely sunshine still, apparently there was heavy rain and floods about but we missed all of that.

Shame to hear about the closures in such times cutting important resources like that seems short sighted and counter productive.

UptoapointLordCopper · 27/08/2011 19:34

Welcome back sfx! Weather a mixed bag here. The secret is in good raincoats and waterproof shoes. Smile

May attempt fossil museum in Cambridge next week. Anyone been?

sfxmum · 27/08/2011 21:17

museum looks interesting, I have never been as I don't drive, I seldom venture out of London

We had such a fantastic time, I kept posting on FB because my aunt likes to see pics of dd.
but really loved it and did not quite manage to do all that we meant to.
will be looking for sales on good waterproof jackets as well as walking boots and wetsuits, we are keen on a return holiday primarily to do some sailing/ canoeing and hiking/ walking the coastal paths
we were very lucky with the weather as the rain mostly fell at night and the few showers that caught us did not detract from the experience
Absolute highlights on nature front were the dolphins, the buffalo in the nature reserve and watching a pair of kingfishers. and I loved the steam railway, so pretty going up the mountain (and coming down again) Grin

we need a rest
