So you slept throught the fireworks, hey, good on ya Paps. Glad you're feeling better.
Good to get your dates, unfortunately, holidays will be few and far between for the lads whilst in the early days of this business, we are taking our one and only, in February probably along with Phil and Tanja and little Stevie (not sure if you know these folks but Tanja is Swiss and they are very lovely) and heading up to bay of Islands(ish) and taking in Jo's (Dr) big b'day bash on the way back. Long weekends are definately possible though but do need to give the other bro's some notice. We shall find a way so don't count us out .

Plastic lawnmower, yes it has to be done!

The bonfire / guy fawkes party thing does not happen here. They let off their fireworks on August 1st - Swiss national Day. It´s just the occasional English household that likes to remember Guyfawkes.

So is that Jo´s birthday / Dr (doctorate) party? She was studying in Wellington when I was living there in 1999.

Have meet Phil, my bro is good mates with him. I used to have the hots for him actually I remember your dp replied to an email I sent to invite him to our wedding here in CH, in 2001, that on the same day Phil had also just sent him an invite, not to mention both marrying Swiss! Have not meet Tanja or Stevie.

Been chilling this week, had a busy weekend. Mate moving to Australia so bit of partying and last minute running around and emotional support for her.

How is your stomach doing?

kjaysmum · 17/11/2006 08:25

Yes that is Jo, she'll be 40, she's got a little boy now called Eli he's one and a really nice fella, we're all off to a camping, nice chalets and in the nature, for her birthday should be good fun.

It's been raining big big rain here all week, must my fault for building ds a sandpit!! I thought the rainy season in Potugal was heavy rain, but wow this is really something.

Stomach is pretty much the same, had biopsy results and unfortunately it appears I do have inflamatory bowel disease, but have to wait till early feb for my recall appointment to find out which type and what the treatment is, bit of a long wait but I am under a really good homeopathist and my yoga really helps, so shall keep on with my herbs and complimentory medicine until the public system here can fit me in! I'm drinking the calendular I grew myself which is quite a buzz, heal thyself sylie. Shall see a natropath soon also, to get some herbs pescribed despite my ever increasing wonderful bookshelf, I feel it's best not to self pescribe too much with something like this. Anyhow bottom line is I have my head around it and if anyone can learn to manage this I can as I feel very in touch with my body.

My goodness this rain is unbelievabe, hope the house doesn't wash away!! Thank goodness we're on sandy soil which drains quicky.

Papillon · 18/11/2006 08:12

yes strange things start happening when you hang out with fruit and vege freaks. Back to normal (for the moment) now.

I saw your thread about ds being a picky eater. dd does not eat much but it generally very healthy. Sitting still is such a difficult task for kids!

Bummer to hear that it is IBS and that you have wait SO long!! I am of your bookshelf. Glad to hear you are getting support for this professionally in the holistic sector. I am going for a treatment on Tuesday, a spiritual meridian massage I think!

wow just read about the rain you guys have had. NZ does get lots of rain - think its welcoming you extra this year though. I will bring blue skies and hot days when I come over ok

Had a long chat to a mate of mine from Wellington yesterday - might go down and stay with him for abit - you and me could blatt around being SAHM. He has a bach in Otaki and we would go and chill there too... so would be in your neigbourhood.

Off to a Church bazaar now to look for priceless art deco

kjaysmum · 21/11/2006 08:32

Spiritial meridian massage hey, shall have to look up what it is, hope you enjoyed.

We are really chuffed you will be in our area whilst you're here and look forward lots to hanging out with you and your little folks, a batch in Otaki sounds great. You bring the sun and we'll do some barbies ok.

I am having an incredible read at the moment, a book called the heart of yoga recomended by my teacher, wow, it's certainly shedding some light on a few areas at the moment....
ooh ooh have to get back to it

Had my treatment - its been an unfolding episode and am really glad I went. DH wants to go now

I took this from her website which is all in German.... The energy work was a gentle therapy which re-establishes harmony with yourself and the environment. Age-old fears, Traumas, karma, negative thoughts and much more besides can be dissolved. The way to more love and larger consciousness becomes free, so that our true, soul can come even to the expression. She does mirror-image-ritual work / heart work to clear blockages.

I feel like a different woman.. its been a weird year wot with a C Section for ds after a homebirth for dd... DH father died 2 weeks after ds was born. And dh working like a demon making me feel abit like a single mum. He is wonderful when he is at home though Bloody big corporations they suck people dry.

DS has his 1st birthday this Saturday Will be a quiet affair after dd big birthday bash.

x

Papillon · 23/11/2006 18:51

This is her site if you do know any german!

www.hanaku.ch

She filled up my Chi reserviour, did Spirituelle Heilmethoden, and adjusted my chakras.

kjaysmum · 26/11/2006 00:37

Hope you had a wonderful day yesterday, many happy returns to your DS
Your treatment sounds very interesting. I did have a look at her website but my knowedge of dutch didn't help to understand much.
I'm so pleased she helped you, it must have been so hard to have a C-section after a homebirth, makes me wonder what went wrong. And the loss of your FIL so close after the birth, how sad, then the absence of your dh, how did you cope?. If the opportunity arises when we meet up, I'd be up for hearing your story.
I've been reading all about Avidya in my yoga book, it seems to be clarifying a huge amount of stuff I've been very confused about for a long time. I find it very exciting to be entering my forties with this insight.
I am working on my chakras and using mantras in my personal practice but the idea of someone helping me with this 'task' is highly appealing!
It's still raining here and pretty cold today so still no beach life to speak of, so close and yet so far!

Hi to you all, sorry to but in, DH and I are talking very seriously of moving to NZ,but having never visited the country, we are keen to learn and learn quickly. DD is 6 years old and having a few problems at school, DH is 38 going on 13 and is a contracts manager for a building company (joiner, carpenter by trade) DS is 5 months old and a little cutie and then there is me 36 SAHM, worked in export industry since leaving school and are totally fed up with the UK, I know we may be swapping Englands problems for another countrys problems, but we want to see a bit of the world, we've done alot of homework and know about the points etc, anyone out there can tell me anything about New Plymouth (as we are very outdoors people, mountain bikers, climbers, etc etc)

kjaysmum · 28/11/2006 22:53

hi malinki, no problem and welcome.
I've never been to New Plymouth myself but I shall ask DP when he gets in from work, maybe Papillon will know more when she comes on as she is a Kiwi.
I have to say if you like outdoor persuits you couldn't come to a more varied and beautiful country. NZ does have it's share of problems of course but I am so happy with our quality of life here and the space you get here, on many levels, is wonderful.

We are searching the web for a reputable co, which help with your application, anyone here tried any of them, moving from the UK. If so any help offered would be appreciated, just spent over 2 hours yesterday completing my NZ version of a CV, looking pretty chuffed with myself. DH's CV should be easier, he has only worked at 3 companies and 2 of them made him redundant, then I plan on e-mailing the CV's to recruitment companies, in and around the areas we would like to live in, Canterbury is looking good though , I've spent more time on the net looking at these beautiful places than anything else. DD has formally been informed that we are looking to move, when we broke the news to her, she asked if we could go tomorrow, then did her 10 times table and went to bed. In Laws are behind us 100% and so are my parents, so we just have to get a job now and then there will be no stopping us, plenty of time to look around etc, if and when we get out there .
Can someone explain the Sponsor system to me, is this when you have family or friends in NZ who are willing to put you up etc, incase anything goes wrong once you are out there and therefore do not claim benefits etc......

Papillon · 29/11/2006 14:03

Hi malinki

You have chosen a good name from a kiwi book there so that´s a good start regarding devotion to NZ Your questions are quite hard ones, have you started a thread about everything???

New Plymouth is nice... abit like Perth in Australia, abit by itself with no other major centres nearby. So its quite provincial and off to the side there. Lovely beaches and outdoor lifestyle. You should have no probs with export jobs as NZ exports all sorts of things.

Hi KJ

Apologies for not being around much. 5 weeks to go till I take off for NZ. Feel like am counting the days abit - life feeling abit of hard work atm.

Is it your birthday soon? Talk of entering 40´s Will have to look up Avidya on google.

dd has abit of an ear infection atm. Her doctor is very cool and only gave spray and told me to put a cooked onion next to her ear.

kjaysmum · 30/11/2006 09:06

No Paps, no birthday coming up, I went over that hill and a bit while back. I just meant exploring this philosophy in my early forties.
Not nice your Dd having an ear infection, we've been very lucky in that department so far, but have friends who have. Glad your doctor is being so good and not scripting out the AB's. Ears and teeth are so painful aren't they so close to the brain. Hope she's better soon.
Remember you said you'd be bringing us some sunshine when you come out, yipee only five weeks to go, I too am counting the days!!

Hi Malinki, My Dp has doesn't know New Plymouth so we are not much help I'm afraid.
Slinky Malinki is my favourite characture in Linley Dodd's books. I was sent a copy Hairy Maclarey from Donaldsons Dairy by Kiwi relies for my Ds when he was a baby, everytime I read it to him I thought wow I'm going to live there soon! By the way, just in case you didn't know a Dairy is a corner shop, a Kiwi institution!

OP posts:
Papillon · 30/11/2006 11:51

I grew up on a dairy farm which had no corner shop - have very good teeth due to low lolly consumption

No sunshine here for afew days, but will store some in the airplane cargo area as I fly over Fiji Should be good weather by then !!

I have decided rather than ekk out the 5 weeks with waiting to go that we should have the pre NZ festival - like advent, something every day. I often make houses for dd - (she had an Australia house recently, as friends just moved there ) so I think we need to build an aeroplane and get the suitcases out soon, make lists (dd likes those) and practise wearing our bikinis

Avidya sounds very intriging and fascinating. I, me feelings are so big in kids, in America culture and the media. I often find myself being slapped by Avidya in the masses and have had to learn to play its game as time goes by. We are so attached to many things being only partially spiritual beings that avidya reflects our state of being, makeup. Our evolution does not yet see us as humans enmasse become more than what we already are.

We know more with our fast but little steps. We are exposed to so much more these days. Have had conversations in the last 2 weeks about how pornography, tv, rich syndromes are undermining everybody, especially of course the young.

goddess, I feel negative! Easy to do with Avidya being human and all !! Would love to hear your insights than just my rambling

malinki · 30/11/2006 16:45

Feeling low, had no discussions with DH about NZ today, but DD still wants to move tomorrow, or maybe Monday. Have spoken to her about getting a job in NZ and that daddy will be the main applicant, she told me "but you have a job mummy!, you have Callum to look after now", nothing like a bit of home truths, so we looked on her wall "map of the world", I showed her New Zealand and she showed me the USSR where she is wanting to live.

Slinky Malinki is a fab book, it was the 1st book we bought DD, I think she was 2 days old, that along with the very hungry caterpillar, we have all the Malinki books, do you guys have the "Gruffalo" in NZ,AUS. That I can highly recommend , you DD's & DS's will love that (so did my DH as well, it gave him a chance to put on a monster voice and act his age for a change . Anyway, going to pour myself a very small G&T, DD is now in the bath, singing Xmas songs and DS is wanting a BF (better do that before the G&T), see you!

Papillon · 01/12/2006 07:31

hope the G&T did the trick Malinki. Our copy of the Gruffalo was given to us by a NZ friend here

Papillon · 05/12/2006 08:20

have you got your nose stuck in a book KJ ??

Hope all is good with you.

malinki · 06/12/2006 10:27

Anyone on this thread know anything about Napier, Hawkes Bay, NZ, DH is re-doing his CV NZ style so fingers crossed and next week we are getting a list of agencies together and then faxing DH CV to them, then I guess we just sit and wait. DH is in a really good job, earning mega bucks, but that isn't the problem, the UK is. If we could move his job and our lovely house to NZ, I would clean toilets for a living (sorry if anyone out there, cleans toilets for a living, I was going to sell my body, but toilets seemed a better choice )

malinki · 06/12/2006 10:29

papillon, have you got Gruffalos child! that book is brill too!!!!

Yup, my family in Napier area - I like Napier its still small but as grown up abit in the last 5 years. Lots of building work, especially in Havelock North which is becoming a little Tauranga.

I decided last time I was living in NZ (in Wellington) that I would rather live abit more rural because the whole place is pretty local, even the cities. That was after living in San Francisco.

Thinking this thread is getting longer and might be slow for some to load... so hope that´s ok with you KJ but will start another thread that everyone (or us) can post on

Back in a mo with the link...
