I gave dd something homeopathic from switzerland - it seemed to really help. Also flying at their natural sleep times is something I always would do from experience!

Glad you going to hang around MN abit long kjm
what does your book say about toddler who hit or bit... dd is quite wild with some of her friends. Am trying to encourage friendships with kids who are quiet and pacifists!

will let you know.. .will have to get some for more for our flights in January!!

Kjaysmum · 25/07/2006 21:43

Hi folks, well Papillon it's a vast subject but more or less he says, habit found mostly in 1 to 2.5 years hmm your DD is older? reaction....minor nip in times of excitement, gentle warning. repeated and premeditated, and a stern warning has been igmored use Time out (he only advises time out as a last resort in general). If in public ie playgroup best to watch cafefully and if bite occurs ignore the biter and give the best toys attention to injured party. My niece was hitting and biting until about 4 years and now is 6 she just grew out of it. hope it helps, the book is a bit old now but I think he sites basic common sense, is nice to have it writen in front of you when the going gets tough though

We've been having some lovely weather here, a hint of things to come and it's rather nice! Its bloody freezing again this morning and apparently we have a southerly coming in this afternoon, brace myself, brrr that south pole does loom doesn't it. DS has his Men B jab this afternoon, feeling very ambiguous about it as he had the men C jab in europe. Have decided, as we don't feel competant enough in our ability to deal with Men if it occured and I lost my best friend at 23 from it , to go down the vaccination road but still goes against the grain somewhat. Just such a shame NZ has it's own stain of it

OP posts:
Papillon · 26/07/2006 06:18

thanks for that - dd will be 3 on 29 october. swiss kids tend to be often qiuet little lambs and I am kiwi ex farming stock, so its in the genes to wrestle and be abit boisterous! She has a mate who is feral cheryl and have been limiting contact as it really gets my little slapper going!

when do you think u can get to Oz to visit your mate? She would have warmer weather

Papillon · 26/07/2006 06:22

sad about your friend - can appreciate why you want him vaccinated in that case. We have not vacinated the kids. The Men C is a new vaccine? My sister got that for her kids and I think then she heard that it is not preventing Men C infections in people

Kjaysmum · 26/07/2006 22:33

Wish I could get over to Oz sopon, friends just had a little girl, Alex/Onion, don't know if you know him. We are homebound for a while, every spare cent accounted for until the lads get this business established. We would like to buy a house next year plus plan europe trip for me and DS 2008 so you know how it is...priorities.
Tell me about Feral, DS is under training at moment too he just sproings all over the place DP's genes (say no more). Still I'd rather have one with lots of character and energy I have met some kids who have been the opposite and well...s not for me

OP posts:
Papillon · 28/07/2006 05:51

I dimly recall hearing the name Onion before, but I don´t know Alex.

Been under the weather last day with stomach bug... still feeling somewhat special.

dd seems to be doing abit better with the feral activity. I have been using a hand puppet (lambchops is its given name) and we read stories together and lambchops has feelings etc which is very sweet and shows her empathy.

It is good you have a garden and more places to roam which gives your ds an outlet for his exuberance! dd is right into swimming this year and now insists on taking dolly too.

the family are off today to Niue this

Kjaysmum · 28/07/2006 08:21

ooh stomach bug is the last thing you need with your small folk to look after, I sympathise.

A hand puppet, what a lovely idea, I've not heard of that one before, I shall try it later on.

My sister had a doll she used to take swimming, called Saidie, I always remember her cause her eyes went all kind of rusty....oops

Your right about the outside sketch, it's a lovely section here aswell, just been moving cacti today, they were growing in some very child unfriendly areas, got to get out there and do some fencing too, can't wait for barbie season.
oh oh my boy is calling ....

Sorry you feeling I'm sure there are more than a few aspects of your life in lovely Swiss that I could do with! I really like Switzerland

The more I live here the more I like it! I don´t really get homesick and have lived away from NZ quite afew times. Some grandparents close by would be handy, but have loads of mates who help out in times of need. We are off (somewhere) on holiday with MIL in a weeks time, so cannot complain to much Except that we still have not booked anything!

dd doll has "plastic" eyes but cloth body.. oh well one way of cleaning her!! She has baby bjorn who can go swimming and in the bath etc. Are you guys not having more kids? We are stopping at two... my body is knackered!

Someone mentioned on MN once that an imaginary friend helped make dinner a more peaceful affair, which prompted the idea.

Kjaysmum · 30/07/2006 05:27

hmmmm more kids question...we feel we started too late to have more (I'm 41 next week) there are lots of pro's and cons but I had some compilications with DS (which I am only just over) and don't want to risk lowering the qaulity of life I'm enjoying with DP and DS. Life begins at 40 they say well it certainly did for us! It's pretty unusual here in NZ to only have one I've noticed, more common in NL where lots of people have their families later in life. It just becomes even more important to ensure we are surrounded by families with kids.

lucky you off on hols, do you think you'll stay in the country or are you off to foriegn climes?

We were in Wellington last night, stayed with DP's Mum and Dad, we went out for a drink and mmmmmmmmmmmm think I'm a bit over going out just for a drink I had one glass off wine all night which I kept topping up with water and we were home by 11pm, bit out of practice . I think we'll have to go to a show or gig or something next time, try again, crikey I feel my age!!

Mayadeine · 31/07/2006 09:08

Hallo, its me Paps

Having a experimental name change, the name came to me in the night and I decided to try it on for abit. I have been thinking about names lately - my spirit name i suppose rather than my given name.

We would like to go to France for 2 weeks but have not been able to book anything so not going anywhere atm! Will have MIL with us.

I agree with gigs or shows being more enjoyable than going out for a drink. Unless you have lots of stimulting conversation happening! I went out with a load of girls a couple of months back and danced and danced and danced. Had a ball. Think it was a case of house bound for too long syndrome though - rather than great music!

dd is now ill with the stomach flu and not keeping anything down really. Seems to be female flu as the males of the household are yet to fall foul. Poor little lamb never ill really.

I remember you went to a Kineisologist in Tauranga? Did that help?

What is the business your dp wants to set up? Is it with his bro´s?

Kjaysmum · 01/08/2006 01:32

Poor little your DD and you, I hate tummy stuff is the worst type of illness in my book especially for the wee ones, so hard to keep them hydrated.

Mayadeine is different, not heard of it myself though, does it have a meaning or does it just mean something to you?

Girls night out hmmmmm it's my birthday next week (told you that before didn't I) but we have friends from Aukland staying that night. I think it's something I should put together though there's a nice gaggle of lasses I know in Wellie, could be fun.

Kineisiologist...to be honest it was a bit long winded, I think he had something but takes a long time to treat, you know 50 drops of this a day and 40 drops of the other, botanicals I think, guess I needed more of a quick fix cause I never kejpt it up....still having problems!

Do you remember I tried to give you the link to Akasha...but couldn'td, I'll try again it's..Akasha books ltd ,think I got it that time. This is the new business of the three bros...hence DP working very hard and pre-occupied, although not so stressed now he's learned the ropes somewhat! It's a smashing little business and should do well but it's early days yet so we've all got our heads down and our purses tight!!

ok housework time (yawn)

OP posts:
Mayadeine · 01/08/2006 13:21

dh is ill now! and even though its Swiss National Day he is on call and has been called. So he is busy working, but from home - he does have to go into the office this time, if he can make it between little rooms!! It has been raining abit so not as tragic if it was blue sky and we could all go out somewhere. dd is eating a lovely big plum atm so feeling much better.

The name Mayadeine, I am discovering has multiple layers of meaning to me. It is a place name (Syria) and if spelt differently a name of a woman. Its been quite a kinetic journey of the mind, so far.

Your birthday next week! So that makes you Leo huh? Think your dh is Pisces if I recall right... always remembered that cos its the polar opposite of Virgo - which is me.

My Aunt and Uncle have a mail order book business in NZ... that is also online. They started in the 1987 on their sheep farm. Nice to have your own business. Will be plenty of books for you to read on herbalism then!

Mayadeine · 01/08/2006 13:22

kids are in bed and I am avoiding any form of housework - droll activity designed to deactivate the grey matter!

Kjaysmum · 01/08/2006 22:27

Yes Leo and DP Picean, well remembered. My sister is Leo too and me dad, poor old mum a virgo in the lions den! DS is a Taurus but don't really know much about them, have to get a book from the shop!! Yes it's great having a wealth of books available.
I went to a talk last night by a local homeopathist and have signed up for a homeopathic first aid course with bunch of kindie teachers and mums of little kids. Very handy as I have a homeopathic kit with 24 remedies and I only use about seven of them!
It's raining here now, I have been told NZ gets a rainy season in the spring, I can't even work out when spring is yet, it's so confusing havng the seasons turned on their heads, I think we have a way to go though.
My mum is sooo relieved that the temperature has dropped in uk, I guess you folks would have been ok in Switzerland being so high up.
Housework...how avoid!!!!???? a cleaner, a mess? Our house is so little we wouldn't be able to move if I didn't keep tidying up (oh my poor lobes) I reckon I'm a bit of a slob compared to some folk round here and I consider myself quite tidy these days

OP posts:
Mayadeine · 02/08/2006 07:11

I am a slob compared to the swiss and it also seems most of my friends that aren´t swiss! Our apartment is 100m square so plenty of area to clean (or not). dh has the occasional swiss knee jeck tendency to be very tidy but 99.9% of the time he is well lazy when it comes to cleaning! He has mentioned for me to get a cleaner, but I fear that will turn me into a slob.

I have robovac which helps... roomba - I would like the floor mop version too one day.. in fact I can´t wait to have a fully automated cleaner with pinny

my sister is a taurus.... usually like their food. Here is good website for a birth charts - astro.com - I am leo rising so know all about the Leo vibe! And I like my hair long which is often a Leo thing!

That great about the homeopathic course

Temps here have dropped this week... a cool 20 degrees. We were have temps in the 30´s for weeks. We are about 500 metres above sea level. Have been swimming at the local free pool, which also has a great river next to it that is fab to float down. the river

how´s that for a well linked post

Kjaysmum · 08/08/2006 10:59

Hi Mayadeine, bit of a gap here... today is was my birthday, it was lovely. Have Jo and Hitendra here with Eli tonight, smell just passed through, Phil with Stevie here earlier, this Island is starting to feel like home....
Hope you and yours are over the tummy bugs and all is good......

OP posts:
Kjaysmum · 09/08/2006 10:12

Thanks for all the links, I can't believe you've got a robot thingy, what a damn fine Idear!! Still waiting for your river to download must be swimming upstream or something!!
