Arrgh, had to start a new thread!

Yes,you can get more land in Tauranga. Well, somewhere like Omokoroa or somewhere.Wouldn't want to live much closer than that. And I woulkdn't want to live at he Mount. Lovely as it is. Too touristy, imo.
We would like enough land for a pool (eventually) maybe a sleepout and still enough for a veggie patch and garden for kids. Don't neeed acres +. Wouldn't say no though,if we could afford it! Be nice to have a few sheep or something/

I think Mum would have to fly to Tauranga. So that would be
Manchester-London,London-Singapore, Singapore-Aukland,Aukland- Tauranga
Bad.

justa howws the back? Hope physio was a help,we may have driven past you!
Your house sounds great.
My mums friend lives in Silverdale. She has about an acre with some sheep etc
Wasn't overly impressed at but didn't give it a proper look I suppose, just stopped to buy flowers for Mums friend! Always worth another look

justa I am woefully ignorant on this subject and am floundering a bit with how to offer advice. So I won't. But, I will be here with (de caff) Brew and (((()))) how's that? Smile

lolly Just for you Grin

carter this may be of help?
christchurchkids.co.nz/ and yes, I am pregnant, but it's very early days and a lot of backstory that I won't depress you with Smile

frick great post, so true. My brother has said some very harsh things to me about us leaving. When my Gran was dying he said something like "yeah well what you want no longer matters, you have fucked off for a better life,so you have no say what happens here anymore!"
He would love to emmigrate but didn't have the balls to do it years ago, now he has a girlfriend and a son, and is "stuck" in the Uk. But I think he realises now, exactly how hard it is to be here with NO ONE who knows you. Especially when you have a life shattering experience. He was eating his words then, I can tell you.
meerkate Gp's like me Wink It's scientific fact (bff is one! although she also shakes her head at me on a regular basis!) Now, were yo barefoot or did you secretly wear your monkey feet again? MONKEY FEET!

longwhitecloud hmmm,no I'm probably more of a dick than anything else, tbh!!
wss totally hideous day, how was your beef and red wine? Very civilised!
Who were we lying to telling the other day about how we just have heavy bursts of rain and then glorious sunshine!! Utterly depressing. Dh at work and we all have a bug. Am done with his job now, I want company on the evenings and weekends!

Thanks AB Wink...drinking my gin just now...I'll try not to cry.

Crappy weather - been out to buy all my tomatoes for planting tomorrow. DH and I are so clueless about this sort of thing so with 4 littlies to help it could go badly wrong.

So here is my next house...it's on the way to DS1's school so we wouldn't even have to move him out of the school.

AngryBeaver · 21/10/2012 09:36

Oh dear, Mothers ruin! You'll be crying a river soon!
HOW lush is that house??Uggh, so not fair that I can't have it!

We ended up trekking into Hamilton to go bowling, it was a complete success for DD1, who had a ball. Not so much for DD2 who saw all the balls and couldn't understand why she couldn't play with them Hmm

Have accepted that I will get most of the updates re DB on Facebook. He's still in isolation, but feeling a bit better I think. Poor thing Sad

oh, and here's another one confessing to a crush on Pa Wink

vvviola · 21/10/2012 09:49

Ooh, gin lolly. I'd kill for a gin.

I have no problem having the occasional wine or beer now that DD2 is older (or champagne in the spa pool like last night Grin) but I can't quite see my way to having spirits... I miss gin Grin

lollystix · 21/10/2012 10:04

AB - if you have $5.5m that house is yours! It's been on the market a while so maybe they'd do you a deal.

I bloody love gin...don't drink it often but a friend gave me a bottle of Hendricks and I happened upon a cucumber. I've been drinking it with a bag of jelly beans on the side. Mind the black ones though....

meerkate · 21/10/2012 10:14

AB 'twas me you were all fibbing to about the weather, pal! I am on red alert for more naughty wool-over-eyes shenanigans in the future! And yes, proper bare-footedness, I'll have you know...might have to give my Monkey Feet to charity one of these days now I do the REAL THING Grin I'll let you know what they're priced at Wink I know you lust after them really (when you're not lusting after pa) (bcs don't pretend you're not in the pa lust club, come on now, admit it...)

frikonastick · 21/10/2012 10:52

Oh man. 5.5 million? Suuuuure. In fact hold on a sec, there we go, quick scratch down the back of the couch and I'm only short 5499995.00 well they do say its negotiable......

frikonastick · 21/10/2012 11:00

Have googled little house on the prairie. I'm afraid I don't get it maybe it's one of those things that if you didn't discover in childhood, doesn't translate in adulthood?

Have now convinced myself that an ability to love little house on the prairie is directly related to wether I'm going to like it there or not!

meerkate · 21/10/2012 11:23

frik it definitely is to do with having been exposed during an impressionable childhood, preferably in the more innocent age of the 70's and 80's! Look at my savvy child-of-the-noughties DD's reaction - incomprehension and horror!
I v much like your cape btw Smile

ulcombebird · 21/10/2012 12:06

Hi to you all. Can any of you Christchurch ladies tell me if there is one 'umbrella company' that is in charge of recruiting staff (building surveyors and the like) following the earthquake, or am I being too simplistic. DH is looking for a job in this field (no pun intended) and I can't help thinking (hoping!) that someone must be co-ordinating recruitment on a large scale. Any ideas welcome. Ps if it makes you feel happier,it has been raining here in Kent for the whole week.

frikonastick · 21/10/2012 13:02

Ulcomebird, there are lots of jobs in construction in Christchurch, if you have a look on trademe.co.nz but I haven't seen a sort of, one place for Christchurch rebuild job site sort of thing, no. Good luck in the search :-)

Lol meerkate, yes, my imaginary version of myself is rather impressive!

meerkate · 21/10/2012 13:50

AB forgot to say, am no longer a GP Shock ... does that mean I WOULD have liked you 18 months ago, but now there's no chance of that whatsoever Grin

when/if we EVER come over, we shall put the theory to the test Grin

meerkate · 21/10/2012 13:50

frik you sound a lot like me ... a wild inner life and, er, no cape in RL Grin

WhatSheSaid · 21/10/2012 18:05

frik did you never see LHOTP on Tv when you were a kid? It was on for years. You must be v young or possibly i am v old :) Mind you, the books are better than the tv series.

lollystix · 21/10/2012 18:49

Ulcombebird - I will pm you when I get a mo. DH in recruitment in this area - Auckland not ChCh but I'll let you know who

WhatSheSaid · 21/10/2012 18:56

Oh and ulcombebird, I don't think there's one organisation coordinating jobs for Chch but yes, Trade Me jobs and also seek.co.nz are the places to look.

meerkate · 21/10/2012 19:48

whatshesaid - I had already concluded that I must be several decades older than frik on the LHOTP test basis Grin

AngryBeaver · 21/10/2012 20:08

I don't think I have ever tried gin
Why do you need a cucumber, dare I ask?!
And thanks lolly, I dreamt I lived in that bloody house last night and awoke with a huge feeling of disappointment!Gutted.

Right frick and meerkate* which ones are you?
www.smosh.com/smosh-pit/articles/super-heroines-you-wouldnt-want-your-girlfriend
And yes meerkate I only possess the "allure" to practising gp's, which means unfortunately, you will detest me on sight!

OP posts:
meerkate · 21/10/2012 20:57

AB (you made me snort with 'allure' btw) - you can't allege that you lead a sheltered life then guide me to the above link with a straight face!! Did you check out the comments section?! Egads!!! Now it's me who is feeling sheltered and squarey, lemme tell you! Saddened that we are now sworn enemies... but I live in hope that you have yet to discover the magnetism that exists between your good self and part-time hospice doctors Grin

No, I didn't actually read them,were they dirty??Blush
I hav remembered soething, bff was on maternity leave in 2006,2008 and 2010...she still luffed me, maybe I do still have the allure for non practising dr's? hoorah!
justa giggling over nonsense you say? I'm you're gal! Have you seen my latest fb coversation? (papa lazarou) my mother contacted me this am to say she had seen it and " what on earth was I wittering about?" also that I "do myself no favours!" heehee

OP posts:
meerkate · 21/10/2012 22:04

Yes-I prefer the giggling approach when at all possible Wink- not absolutely always possible in the terminal setting, i concede, but actually more than one might think. Or than I had thought, at least. The phenomenon you describe is alive and well though - accompanied by what is known as the 'hospice head-tilt'...we shall dissect all of this in RL one day my friend Smile

meerkate · 21/10/2012 22:08

AB they were Pure Filth!! I blush to say anything more on the subject BlushBlush
I will weigh up the latest evidence you present me with and ponder...I may be forced to throw it out on the basis of obvious BFF bias though Wink and tiny sample size too.....hmm....
