Sorry you had a pointless trip AB. Thinking of you.

AngryBeaver · 26/06/2012 07:10

I'm scouring the net desperately looking for positive outcomes relating to fluid on spine...can't find anything. Mum has gone home.Dh feeding the kids.I'm in my pj's trying to find someone on the internet who will tell me it's going to be alright Sad

WhatSheSaid · 26/06/2012 07:43

Well that's all a bit shit AB I'm sorry the CVS couldn't be done. More waiting :(

thelittlestkiwi · 26/06/2012 07:45

I'm so sorry it's not better news AB.

How is your DH? I hope you are getting lots of TLC. Has your mum gone home to her place in Cambridge or back to the UK? I hope she is there with you.

vvviola · 26/06/2012 08:07

Sad so sorry to hear it didn't go well.

Thinking of you xx

AngryBeaver · 26/06/2012 08:20

Dh very upset earlier, convinced now it's bad news...no hope
Mum is in her place in Cambridge
Mum keeps saying things like "it makes you wonder if that's what was wrong with the last one?"
She is being supportive but there's not much can be said without me taking issue at the moment,so noone is saying much!

Huge hugs AB. I'm sure people dont mean to say insensitive things - it is just so hard to know what to say in this situation. I never know what to say, but am here to be supportive in whatever way someone on the end of an internet wire in Wellington can be x x

AngryBeaver · 26/06/2012 08:53

I know,I wouldn't know what to say to someone going through this either.I have hideous foot in mouth disorder...

ScroobiousPip · 26/06/2012 09:57

So sorry that the news isn't better AB.

You're doing very well to be patient with your mum - I don't think i'd be so restrained!! Still it is good that she is there with you while you are going through all this. I think I must have missed a bit of a thread somewhere - is she in NZ for a while?

Oh AB, so sorry to hear about your day today. Sending virtual hugs your way

AngryBeaver · 27/06/2012 05:16

Just spoken to the senior midwife and I feel slightly better. She reviewed the scan and said, actually the fluid doesn't look abnormal and the baby is on the 25th centile but not tiny. She impressed that there could still be something wrong but that the odds hadn't worsened. I'm pissed off now,the dr we saw more or less told us it was bad and the baby was "sick".
I asked if there was hope and the mdwf said "oh definitely there is hun"...so back to square 1...

OP posts:
lollystix · 27/06/2012 06:15

25th percentile is totally normal!!! And you still have 80% chance that things are ok. I can't imagine the stress you are feeling right now but try to step away from google as it's not a happy place where anything medical is concerned. When is the amnio and how quick are the results?

AngryBeaver · 27/06/2012 08:19

Well,I've always had big babies 9 1b +...and usually measure 1 week ahead all the way through. I have had a big bump since about 11 weeks,so I was shocked to hear "very small" which is what the dr said. She also made a big deal of the fluid. But to be fair the mdwf sid say there was a slight adema(sp) around the neck which could indicate something not so good.
I just feel sick to be honest. I felt like I couldn't breathe today.Like someone was trying to hold a pillow over my face...maybe verging on apanic attack or something (never had one so don't know)...but couldn't get my breath.
Amnio will be next tue (eternity) at 1.30 and the FISH test (speedy one) should be back within 48 hours (they give you FISH test for free if you very high risk)That will rule out Downs,Edwards and Patau.
But it will take up to 2/3 weeks to get the full results of the karyotype (I think) test. And then if (please God) I get the all clear from that, there will be the anomoly scan to determine whether there are any physical abnormalities...heart/brain etc

You must feel like you are on a rollercoaster AB. Have you spoken to your GP about everything? I've still got everything crossed.

AngryBeaver · 28/06/2012 00:40

Yes,it's incredibly difficult. Haven't spoken to my GP.Don't think there is much she can tell me.

Juatabout..I'm sorry to ask again, but where do you live? Dh is considering applying for jobs in Aukland.I would love to live in Devonport or St heliers, but we couldn't afford it! I want a bit of land,he wants to be near the beach.
I seem to remember you had some land with your house, but weren't too far from Aukland?

AB - you're welcome to come visit us in st heliers too. It is expensive but I think we may end up buying in Glendowie which is just down the road and is a bit cheaper with bigger plots. Great schools.

AngryBeaver · 28/06/2012 06:55

justabout ah,well I'm not respecable at all,infact I'm a right strumpet Wink.
I would love to take both of you up on your offer...maybe when I'm less depressing to be around though,eh?
On my list to check out.
Mission Bay
Kohimarama
Glendowie
Glenfield
Mount Eden
Howick

We do want a bit of land. Nearish to the beach would be good. Have a friend in Orewa, but a bit far out for the commute I think?
Have had the Torbay/Browns Bay/Long Bay tour...not for me. Too built up and busy

Is that,Orewa is much cheaper than Albany? I think we heard that Albany was getting the go ahead to be built up. It would be a bummer to buy somewhere with a great view and in 2 years be looking at a Briscoe's out your front window!
