Oh AB ... ((hugs)). No experience of this myself but thinking of you.

thelittlestkiwi · 18/06/2012 09:47

AB- so sorry for this stress. And have everything crossed for a good result.

What is the plan for tests?

I'm in shock I think. I cried when she told me,but since then I just feel hollow.
Blood tests tomorrow.I have to go and get weighed as they want the results to be as accurate as possible. They have to send the bloods to Aukland.I hope to have the results onWed (the mdwife will tell them it's urgent). They will give me an idea.... 1 in 50,1 in 200 etc the next step is an amnio

Thanks justabout, that's a lovely offer. I feel you have your own stuff to deal with, though!!
I'm up at silly o'clock as we had to call st.john's out to our 4 year old. He was struggling to breathe and really panicking. 2 lovely lovely ladies came round. He had calmed down and the calpol had kicked in,he was looking fine under the duvet watching Thomas when they arrived - of course!!
They had a cup of tea with me and asked me how far along I was - at which point I started crying Blush then they went on to tell me how lovely Downs babies were and I should be grateful for any child I'm given.
Not really what I want to hear at the moment, but their heart was in the right place. Just a few hours and then I get the bloods.
I'm feeling a bit more hopeful. Have had replies on my other thread saying often the nasal bone isn't visible until 18/19 weeks anyway, and some hospitals range is up to 3.5mm for nuchal fold. So although high,I'd still be within range.
Clutching at straws a bit,but it's keeping me going.

AB sorry to hear this. I do have a friend who has gone through this but I don't want to post her story on a public forum. I'll pm you a bit later when I've got dd1 to kindy.

Sibble · 18/06/2012 19:46

lollystix · 18/06/2012 20:50

Keeping fingers crossed for you AB. I'm afraid I can't offer any direct experience, but sending you lots of good wishes. At least they seem to be able to get the results to you quickly enough.

Hugs for you too justabout - it's just one thing after another, isn't it xx

longwhitecloud · 19/06/2012 00:02

AB hope you are doing okay. No real words to comfort you and no experience of what you are going through, but I hope you, your DH and family are okay. Thinking of you all xxx

Hugs AB. Thinking of you and yours and fx for tomorrow. No experience but it did take two scans and about 40 mons for them to find DD2s nasal bone it was small or something.

We've had a house of illness too over the weekend. Poor DD1 (age 3) was very vomity but was a little trooper and managed to get it in the throwing up bowl every time. Dd2 had it too but shook it off quite quickly.

They were giving away free cake at the train station this morning! Really helped brighten up the day!

Shells · 19/06/2012 05:47

Gosh, you've both had a hard run. Fingers crossed things are turning a corner soon.

Yep AB - I've been thinking about you all day. Hope you're ok. (would do flower emoticon if it was on my phone)

Bobbish · 20/06/2012 07:56

Just popping in to let you know I'm thinking of you too AB x

WhatSheSaid · 20/06/2012 08:44

Me too

AngryBeaver · 20/06/2012 09:00

I have been sitting with mobile in one hand, house phone in the other for most of the day. The minute I put ds1 in the car to go to kindy and reverse out, half the house comes running out shouting that the mdwife is on the phone.
Anyway,I was all built up to hear "good news" or "bad news",which is what I've asked her to say straight away,no pre-amble...she says "no news"!
Can't believe it. Apparantly there has been a change in how they process things in Aukland and it means I may not find out til Friday.
So stressed.
Was ok yesterday but as soon as I got up today I've been horrible. Snapping at kids and dh. Even at the little one Sad. On the way out to playgroup I reached out to close the car door and realised my arm was shaking.
Then went to take the brake off and my leg was shaking.

Was a nice distraction at playgroup. But then took ds 1 to playgroup after finding out I'd have to wait longer, and he decided to cry and scream and hold on to my leg...I could still hear him screaming from the car Sad
What.a.shit.day.
Friday can't come quick enough.

That's total shite AB - I'm so sorry. Sad

thelittlestkiwi · 20/06/2012 09:14

That does totally suck AB. Waiting for results is torture. I hope you find out soon.
