Feeling anxious about DCs starting French school...

Just wanted some words of wosdom and hand-holding, really! We've been in France a few months but DC have been at bilingual school. In Sept they are due to start at a French school. The school is very good and everyone praises it, and it is well used to expats' children as there are so many in this area.
BUT I am feeling more and more anxious about it. DCs are 6 and 4 and I cannot stop imagining theor first day and just HOW they will cope, and how lost they might feel. They understand some very basic French and I am trying to get them to watch French TV etc but my stomach wrenches when I think about leaving them there. How many days/weeks of potential tears and upset will there be???
Tell me to pull myself together...I know, I know. And no I am ansolutely not showing any of my fears to them and nor will I!

It certainly seems so Smile

Today went very well except one incident of a girl saying she would not be DD's 'friend' anymore. But those incidents used to happen in the UK as well, and can in any school, so nothing to do with French school!! (Also - girl is English by birth too...is it an English kids thing to say that??)

No, slinky, Belgian children say it too! Glad things went very well today. We're all rooting for you and your dd and ds. At least it's the weekend and you can relax for a bit! Have a lovely one :)

Thank you Longtime Smile
I've had so much support on here; it is wonderful.

I hope you all had good days too, and I wish you a bon weekend with your DCs...

Hello, I wanted to update as I had so much support here a few weeks ago.

Well - it's good news Smile DD has settled really, really well and has made a few French friends. She is invited to 2 playdates with little French girls at Toussaint and I'm delighted.
DS...well, things are not 'perfect' BUT he now goes into school quite happily each morning and back after lunch, no prob usually. He still finds playtime hard, but he tells me about school and he showed me around his classroom with enthusiasm last week Smile
We will get there...and thank you again for all the support when I really needed it.
