Good morning Pamela, thank you for updating. Lovely to hear from you and I know you feel terrible but you just had big surgery. It can take one or two days before you start to feel relief. Sending you a massive hug and lots of love ❤️

Rainbow1901 · 08/07/2023 09:46

You are doing amazingly well x

OnSecondThoughts · 08/07/2023 09:50

Continuing to offer prayers and thoughts for you, Pamela.
What a brave and good woman you are. I was just thinking that the internet and social forums can be quite a negative place at times, but by bringing us all together here to offer you support and direct our prayers / thoughts / healing energies towards you, you are creating an oasis of goodness right here. I hope your surgery is successful and that you begin to feel more comfortable very soon. xxx

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 08/07/2023 09:53

I am so glad for you that the first op is over.
Please ask for more/better drugs.
Try to rest as much as you can.
You are doing brilliantly.
Xx

Morning beautiful, wanted to let you know you have all been in my thoughts for the past week.

You got this ❤️☀️❤️

Sending you a world of love and strength xxx

Chickenfeed67 · 08/07/2023 10:07

Morning Pamela, fingers crossed for feeling better when all that fluid is out of you. My mum (much older than you) had liver cancer and had drains put in, but not with a general anaesthetic - she said it was pretty traumatic so thank heavens you were knocked out for it. Maybe that’s yet another benefit of a private hospital!

My dad also had a bile duct stone and couldn’t tolerate any food that wasn’t liquid until it was blasted away, so keep on with milkshakes and soup to keep your strength up over the weekend.

Reading what you’re going through is like a combination of my parents worst illness so how you’re dealing with both at the same time is just awful.

I’m guessing you’re originally an Aberdonian from what you’ve written before - so am I and we’re a stoic lot. Keep going Pamela, you’ve got this.

Dwrcegin · 08/07/2023 10:07

So glad you got through it Flowers

SlightlyJaded · 08/07/2023 10:14

So pleased you are through the drain op and have already had some fluid come away. Everything everything crossed that things can move forward for you.

You are amazing to keep updating us. I very much hope it's because you are taking comfort from the thread and not because you feel obligated.

Keep on keeping on Pamela - we're all cheering you on.

spiderlight · 08/07/2023 10:20

Good morning. This is the first thread I've checked today and I'm so impressed that you've given us such a long update when you must be so incredibly sore. I'm glad the op is out of the way - hopefully full steam ahead with chemo now. Thank goodness you were able to get to London!

FudgeMcFlurry · 08/07/2023 10:21

Well done on getting to this point. We’re all rooting for you.

I don’t want to step on your medical team’s toes but could you ask if a PCA (patient controlled analgesia) would be suitable for you? Tends to be a lot more effective than Oramorph (no 17.5mg since 10pm is not a huge dose at all), especially as your oral drug absorption is likely to be affected.

ThursdayFreedom · 08/07/2023 10:22

well, I lived to tell the tale

well that's a bloody good start isn't it!!🤗

Oramorph is great, but not hard hitting enough for what you've been through. Ask for the good stuff!! You don't need to be in pain!!

prof doing rounds is normal (100% expected in NHS, let alone private!)

yeah drugs & no food does tend to make you feel absolutely shit. Try your bestest (wink 🥴) to eat/nibble what you can & drink.

don't give the bed pans another thought. You're 'lucky you're a tiny wee thing, it makes it a lot easier. Have you seen 'Breaking Bad'?? You're like a flamingo to my baby rhino & a room mate was built like a mama elephant about to birth and pooped a lot (on the ward with all of us there). At least you have a private room!!

it's entirely natural to feel so exhausted an rubbish after an op, it's horrible, but don't stress that it 'means' anything.

I hope you de- yellow & feel much better as the weekend progresses & you're in good shape for stenting on Monday! (Remember what they said about it being a much easier op!!) AND hopefully J&M will be there for hugs after!!

I Joe your silver cloches bring you tempting bits today!! Xx

much love & strength

Lovely to hear from you this morning. Hope all goes well with Prof B - and oramorph is not as strong as the thing you press - I loved that!
X

StartupRepair · 08/07/2023 10:23

Well done Pamela. You are amazing. Hope they can get on top of the pain. Keep asking.

CashmereDarling · 08/07/2023 10:30

Well done for getting through that!!
Crossing everything that the stent working means you will start to feel a bit more comfortable soon, and that they can manage your pain better.

Surely these days no one actually needs to be in agonising pain 🤯

You are a brave, wonderful woman 🌸

PollyAmour · 08/07/2023 10:32

Pamela, you are in my thoughts and in my prayers. I don't know what to write. When my best friend was fighting cancer, I held her hand and told her to save me a seat at the top table. If you can't fight anymore, it's not the end.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 08/07/2023 10:34

Pamela, you are incredible!
16 hours after a huge op in a weakened state and you're saying you feel shite... of course you do !
It's great the drains are working, it will take a while for bile to start draining
Please do speak up for stronger pain relief.
I hope Prof B brings a good update
Are your Mum and Jacob coming over?

Iloveringos · 08/07/2023 10:52

Wonderful to hear your update Pamela, so are so kind and considerate updating us and we all appreciate it. Hope so much for a positive update from your Professor. You're amazing 🤩

cherrybakewell24 · 08/07/2023 10:55

Well done Pamela you're amazing!!! Definitely ask them for some stronger drugs, oramorph is ok but you need something more heavy duty. Don't be scared to tell them! Sending all my love and best wishes
