Sending love to you all. You are one brave lady. X

Justkeepingplatesspinning · 08/07/2023 08:54

It's great to hear that your op went ahead last evening, keep on top of the meds and don't be a hero!
Re the Prof coming this morning, I had surgery on a Friday and the consultant came round on the Sat, that was bog standard NHS, so probably a standard day after op visit. I also had badly blocked bile duct with gall stones, it took a few days to stop being yellow once the bike duct was cleared, so hang in there.
Sending thoughts and prayers down the A1 to you x

ohyouknowwhatshername · 08/07/2023 08:55

Pamela, you are amazing ♥️ I'm sending all my prayers to you today. I hope you start to feel better as the day goes on. Xx

Northernsoul72 · 08/07/2023 08:57

Good Morning Pamela. Praying for a positive visit from the Professor xx

Willmafrockfit · 08/07/2023 09:00

yes it is very standard for the surgeon to come round the day after Flowers

Daisythecat15 · 08/07/2023 09:04

Pamela you're a trooper! So glad to hear you've had your surgery. Be prepared to feel crap though! I had major surgery recently - and it took it out of me like I never expected. Weak, fatigued, nauseous, and also very emotional. It took awhile to feel myself again. And that was with me being completely healthy beforehand! Give it time. You're doing amazing. As for the bed pan - think nothing of it. The nurses have seen it all. 2 nurses helped me have a shower after my surgery, and put a sanitary towel in my knickers. I felt very undignified but they were so unbothered and so kind about it.

Oh and as others have said, it's standard for the consultant to come and see you the day after surgery. So don't be too scared about Prof B coming.

Hope your pain is managed today, and you are able to eat a little and feel comfortable. Rest up, you've done so well.

fuckmyuteruslining · 08/07/2023 09:04

I would expect him to be in this morning. Chemo regimes can be modified if they think the full dose is too much and mets can respond to chemo and shrink too.

Jusmakingit · 08/07/2023 09:06

You are doing amazing ! Give everything some time and you will improvements I’m sure of it. Prof B prolly just coming to debrief and check everything is ok.

bed pan - don’t even worry about that. Little funny-ish story. When I was having my daughter I had an epidural after the birth one leg woke up normal and the other was completely numb and couldn’t hold any weight on it but desperately needed the toilet so a young HCA tried to help me onto a wheelchair toilet thing , blood still pouring out of me no underwear and barely clothed she let me put my weight into her and I completly collapsed onto her covering her in blood and cracked my knee or the floor - I literally went down like a tonne of bricks. And to make it even better we fell into the next cubicle with my fanny hanging out everywhere 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ it was mortifying but I laugh now lol 😂

They have seen and done it all so do not even give it another thought.

Bossyboo · 08/07/2023 09:08

Thank you Pamela for the update - it is really kind of you to let us know particularly when you've been through all that!
It's good news they've done the op and you're not at home with nothing being done to give you a chance.
Much love prayers and good wishes for you and your lovely family today and the days ahead.

Faith Hope and Love

Xx

Pansypotter123 · 08/07/2023 09:10

It's normal to feel lousy after even minor surgery and what you've had is immense! As others have said it's normal to feel like this. Rest today and see what your surgeon says.

Will your mum and Jacob be coming over?

Sending you much love and prayers xx 🙏🏽🤲💕

DollieBantrysPantry · 08/07/2023 09:11

Thankyou for the update Pamela, you are so brave, sending much love 💕

TappingTed · 08/07/2023 09:13

Thank you for your update. You’re doing amazingly well to be typing and coherent. Don’t worry about the nurses helping you with personal care, it’s actually a privilege to have people trust in you and I actually miss that side of things now I no longer work in a ward! So honestly they won’t mind and will be please you’re peeing.

MrsSpa · 08/07/2023 09:14

Pamela I have been thinking of you so much. Thank you for the update, it’s natural to feel awful after an operation. And I’m a nurse and honestly bed pans are just what we do, along with all sorts of bodily secretions! Don’t be afraid to call them again to use the bed pan, better than waiting until you’re absolutely bursting.
You are so brave, and so considerate to be updating us now.
Hope the conversation with Prof B is reassuring.
Much love to you and Kerr and Jacob and your mum xx

Itsallinyourhead2022 · 08/07/2023 09:15

Sending lots of love, you are in my thoughts all the time x

Ambertonix · 08/07/2023 09:16

Well done for getting through yesterday Pamela. My God you are having a time of it. It sounds like the medical staff where you are seem to be on the ball though which is good news (in a haze of lots of crappy news i realise). Continued thoughts and prayers to you and Kerr who is doing a sterling job of keeping us updated when you are unable to and it is much appreciated.

Letsgoforaskip · 08/07/2023 09:18

Morning, as everyone has said, I think anyone should expect to feel rubbish after surgery and I would imagine the drains would need time to have an affect. It must be incredibly frustrating for you though to have waited so long for this and then feel worse. I’m so sorry that the pain is still so bad.
I’m hoping that the darkest hour is just before dawn and it has had to get worse before it gets better.
Sending love, hope and strength to you, Kerr, Jacob, your mum and all your supporters 🥰

Enforceddrysummer · 08/07/2023 09:20

So pleased you've had the surgery even though you feel rubbish. Oramorph doesn't do it for me. I need the real stuff injected to feel a difference. Your body's had a hammering so you're not going to bounce back immediately. Hopefully you will notice a difference soon. It takes a while for the yellow to go. Relax as best you can and hope the Prof has something positive to say.

girlswillbegirls · 08/07/2023 09:23

I am very happy to read you overcame the operation yesterday Pamela.
I cannot even imagine the level of pain you are going through and I am hoping as the hours go by you will start feeling better
I keep my fingers crossed for the next step. You are in my thoughts all the time ❤

VintageBlossomHill · 08/07/2023 09:24

So glad that the operation is behind. Your3 amazing. I hope you feel more comfortable soon and the Prof visit goes well. Xxx xx

ArabeIIaScott · 08/07/2023 09:36

Flowers. You're doing so well. Rest and rest and all will be well.

Gingerbreadandtea · 08/07/2023 09:39

Great to see your update. Rest now and let your body heal. Xxx

nettie434 · 08/07/2023 09:40

Adding my admiration for your bravery, Pamela. Hope you begin to feel a bit more comfortable after the operation. That pre op photo is amazing. You look like you were about to go out, not undergo a huge operation! I am in awe at your determination and bravery.

notapizzaeater · 08/07/2023 09:44

It's less than 16 hours since you had major surgery! I'd be expecting you to feel like shite tbh, if you weren't I'd be more worried! Hopefully everything g draining (even a little) will help you feel better. Hope the prof has some good news later.

AutisticLegoLover · 08/07/2023 09:44

You amaze me post after post. You are truly amazing. Once your ascities has drained you will feel better and not look like a ball like you said previously. Try not to worry about the jaundice, it will take time to improve. You've been through surgery when already in a severely weakened state so the fact you are posting here is nothing short of awesome. Its awful trying to use a bedpan because its not a natural position to toilet in but us nurses think nothing of it at all. Oramorph isn't the best. Oxycodone might be better for you so please ask for something better if you need it. Try to sleep as much as you can and eat small amounts. No food and lots of drugs makes you feel like shit. rich tea biscuits perhaps if you can't manage much. Love and prayers to you x

SplendidUtterly · 08/07/2023 09:44

Good morning lovely Pamela. So glad that the surgery is over now and I hope and pray Prof B has some good news for you this morning.
