Husband now terminal

My 31 year old husband has been today diagnosed as terminal. His cancer which had gone in July has come back rapidly and now there is nothing they can do Sad. How do you move on from here? We had his sperm frozen to hopefully try ivf but he won't even be alive to try that.

I'm so utterly heartbroken Sad

Just a lurker saying hello Niffler Flowers.
My DH also has cancer which although not cureable is being actively treated at the moment.
I'm so sorry you are going through this - you are doing an incredible job as his carer and advocate. Thinking of you both x

underthebluemoon · 07/11/2017 18:12

Niffler, hope you are doing okay and your DH too. And your dog. Flowers

MurielsBottom · 08/11/2017 08:53

Thinking of you today Niffler, and your Dh.

Poisongirl81 · 08/11/2017 09:01

I'm so sorry thinking of you.

Nifflerbowtruckle · 08/11/2017 09:42

Thank you all. We are doing okay. He is steadily declining though and when he has good days he then ends up in bed for several days. He hasn’t eaten anything for a few days and even before that could only manage a couple of bites of a sandwich. The complan make him feel unwell so he can’t drink those.

The good days are good, and I hope a comfort for you both when he is less well.

Both of you are much in my thoughts.
Thanks

I missed your post yesterday Nifflerbowtruckle.
I too have been thinking of you both, yet what can I actually say?
Just thoughts and strength x

Chasingsquirrels · 09/11/2017 06:52

Oh, DH had Fortisip and Fortijuice (on prescription), if he hasn't tried that might be with asking your GP.

Nifflerbowtruckle · 09/11/2017 10:24

I’ll see if he will try them. He’s now afraid of trying anything different in case it makes him feel ill. He will only drink tango and cups of tea. I did buy him some multi vitamins just to give him something.

I second trying fortisip, my mum had them. They make a few flavours, some nicer than others. Sending 💐

Chasingsquirrels · 09/11/2017 17:23

DH's GP surgery arranged for him to have a multi pack of various flavours. He preferred the mocha. It's a milk based drink, he didn't really like the Fortijuice - said it was far too sweet.

MrsMozart · 09/11/2017 20:02

What about the small pots of Ambrosia custard? Smooth and good level of calories.

Hooplaaaa · 09/11/2017 20:11

Thinking of you and sending love OP

mumisnotmyname · 12/11/2017 21:49

I am so sorry, it puts my trivial gripes into perspective.
Sending you best wishes.

Nifflerbowtruckle · 12/11/2017 23:07

Thank you all. He’s had a somewhat okay day today. He fancied some food which he hasn’t for a long time. He’s now pretty much skin and bone which is hard to see. He’s never been massively skinny in all the time I’ve known him. He’s now basically stuck upstairs, he really struggles with the stairs so we go up to him now.

It's horrible to see them reduced to so little Nifflerbowtruckle.
We moved DH's hospital bed downstairs when he could no longer manage the stairs, it just gave him that bit longer as part of the family. But that might not be practical for you.
Just hugs and strength x

ThisTimeItsTrue · 13/11/2017 08:30

Flowers. So sorry. I just wanted to say I'm thinking of you and your DH.
