Xx

Spinaroo · 24/04/2014 17:37

Hope you are hugging the kids as I write....

zazzabeans · 24/04/2014 18:05

Flowers for you Smile
hope the dc have been and made your day.
hopefully they find you a match soon.

YouDoVooDoo · 24/04/2014 19:32

I'm on the register biscuits and I give blood so if at any point you develop a shameful love of corned beef, mini eggs and roast beef monster munch (not all together, obvs, I'm not a philistineWink) I offer my apologies in advance Grin

Hope the dc have made it it and you got lots and lots of squeezy hugs.

GimmeDaBoobehz · 24/04/2014 19:38

I'm so sorry to hear you are going through this.

I am a complete stranger but I believe that positivity and a good support network and great doctors with the right medicine is 90% of what it takes to make you better.

The other 10% is down to your own body and how it reacts.

But if the other 90% is there, then there is great hope.

Practically, have you got some help that will be available to you so the youngest / others can be looked after - especially when you are feeling very rotten?

Do you have family or friends who could have them for a weekend when the chemo/cardio is getting a bit much?

I know you'll probably want to be with them, but if you are struggling - or even someone who can stay in the house with you.

I can't imagine what you are going through to be honest but it must be so shocking to feel a bit poorly in the morning and find out there is horrible disease that you are going to have to fight. I imagine it's just one big blur.

I live in the South West of England and if there is anything I can do let me know (bring stuff to hospital for example) let me know. I would say the kids could play with DD but she's 1 so probably not the same age range.

Thinking of you and hoping that this turns out the very best that it can.

Thanks x

GimmeDaBoobehz · 24/04/2014 19:57

I too am on the donor list for bone marrow, so here's hoping that I am a match for you too. I know it's unlikely, but I sincerely hope so.

x

Mama1980 · 24/04/2014 20:31

Hi biscuits, I hope you are having cuddles with your dc s right now, great news your blood count would allow it.
I Have everything crossed a match is found quickly for you. I cannot donate myself, I've had so much treatment and still have blood transfusions but I have everyone I know signed up to every donation register going Smile

Hi Biscuits

Each night before I went to sleep I would watch the following You Tube clip. One of hundreds I stumbled across, when I had time on my hands.

It struck me that we are never alone, someone, somewhere is having the same feelings as you, going through the same stuff at this moment. Equally, there are husbands, mothers, children, waiting on the side lines, hoping and praying. And, in some of those large yellow clusters computers are whirring, databases are being scoured, looking for a donor for you. It never ends.

Oh, and the music made be very sleepy.

I have yet to learn how to cut and paste on this tablet thing, so I hope it comes out ok.

Sleep well tonight.

ISpyPlumPie · 24/04/2014 23:54

DH and I are on the register too, although I was suspended (I think that's the term Confused) while pg. DC is now over one so I should be able to donate again. Does anyone happen to know whether I'll be re-added automatically or whether I need to contact them? Want to maximise the chances of a match if I can.

olympicsrock · 24/04/2014 23:54

Hello biscuits, I'v been thinking of you every morning on my way to work crossing my fingers and sending positive thoughts. I hope you managed to see your children . You have such a lot to live for. Stay stale. Ps mine's a chocolate hobnob. Xx

Hi biscuits,

Managed to lose this thread for a few days, kept thinking about you though. So glad to see you have positive moments, I can only imagine how tough it is, but keep going and keep fighting xx

biscuitsandbandages · 25/04/2014 10:24

Its a new day. Going to try all your suggestions and im going to beat this.

Ive also told the nurses to tell maintenence that if they dont reduce the temp in my room from this balmy 25degrees then a potentially neutropenic patient is going to self discharge :-) i wonder whqt I will do if they call my bluff. Might go out for an ice cream and see if they miss me :-)

Go biscuits. Triumph over hospital air conditioning AND cancer!
Enjoy the new day xx.

riskit4abiskit · 25/04/2014 11:31

Hi biscuits. Did you have a great visit with your dc?

riskit4abiskit · 25/04/2014 11:34

Warm rooms make me feel sick at the best of times so i do hope it gets sorted for you (either that or organise a bucket on a bedsheet out the window to catch the nearest ice cream man).

fidelineish · 25/04/2014 11:41

i wonder whqt I will do if they call my bluff.

Pack ostentatiously and walk very very slowly towards the door, loudly counting your footsteps in the manner of a five year old running away from home Smile

deserttrek · 25/04/2014 13:03

Morning biscuits

Please don't discharge yourself. Push the ward harder to get the temperature down. There may be a control just outside the room so it may not be a case of maintenance having to do anything, but persevere to get one of the nursing team to look into it.

Otherwise hope the day is going well for you and you see the DCs this weekend.

storytopper · 25/04/2014 14:12

You sound very chirpy and a wee bit naughty today. All to the good, I think. Keep it up. I hope the visit with your DCs went well.

Madamecastafiore · 25/04/2014 14:16

thinking of you.

biscuitsandbandages · 25/04/2014 15:16

I promise I wont actually leave :-) but I thought it might concentrate their thoughts on the feeling of being stuck in 4 walla at 25 degrees without being allowed to open the window or door

OP posts:
Mignonette · 25/04/2014 15:33

Ask them for fans. They'll have them because they use them on patients running temps. Make sure they disinfect them first though (or assuming they'll have their own).

nicename · 25/04/2014 15:45

Don't do a runner! My dad did that a few years ago. He got bored in hospital so came home.

When the hospital rang to say 'ermmm, you haven't seen MrNicename Sr have you by any chance?' he was sitting having his tea. The nurses were rather annoyed and threatened to hide his clothes.

It's rotten when the room is too hot. They need to keep an eye on your temperature and boiling you won't help. Ice cream helps a lot. Lots of ice cream.

Stuffofawesome · 25/04/2014 15:58

strip naked and refuse clothes until they sort it?
