Warrant out for me

LauraLesleyLogan · 16/01/2018 18:51

I've done something stupid and failed to show up at Jury duty which I know is so wrong though have had different things to deal with recently which I know is no excuse.

Now it appears a warrant has been issued for my arrest. I have had a phone call to say I have to go to the police station and could be locked up to appear in court.

Anyone know whats likely to happen to me. Proper bricking it.

Scary though self inflicted.

It seems amazing to me that they can spend so much resource policing this.

Maddaman · 16/01/2018 21:40

Squiddled seems pretty on point imo

Gwenhwyfar · 16/01/2018 21:40

" it's not that cold in the cell area, can be too warm sometimes."

I have colleagues who wear short sleeves so I suppose they will say it's not too cold at our work while I sit there wearing two tops under my thick dress plus a jacket and a jumper in my bag just in case. Not sure I'd trust anywhere publicly funded to be warm enough.

Nicknacky · 16/01/2018 21:40

Op, if you are fortunate and it's a quiet time then processing will take about 30 mins max. Lots of questions about your health etc.

Oh if you take medication, take it with you. A doctor would come in and administer it.

Nicknacky · 16/01/2018 21:41

*mad ....apart from us not having cautions in Scotland!

LauraLesleyLogan · 16/01/2018 21:41

Like I said earlier my tights are off now, and got 2 pairs of my thickest socks on as sure my footwear will be removed.

Again no point in arguing.

Bloody hell OP, your being very stoic #freetheMN1.... seriously though, good luck x

Redglitter · 16/01/2018 21:42

It seems amazing to me that they can spend so much resource policing this

If you read the thread you'll see it's been explained that there will be no police resources used apart from custody staff. It's not taking cops off the street or anything

Nicknacky · 16/01/2018 21:42

gwen police offices are either boiling or freezing. Depends half the time on how old the building is.

Nicknacky · 16/01/2018 21:43

Op, there is no arguing? I'm trying to make sure you get the correct advice and not English advice.

Gwenhwyfar · 16/01/2018 21:43

Nicknacky - I can now because someone posted it. I hadn't thought about it before.

But I don't understand any of this. I thought people were arrested so they could be questioned for something. OP isn't going to be questioned, but is going straight to court? Why can't she just have been summoned to court? Why the need to stay overnight with the police if the police don't want to question her or anything?

LauraLesleyLogan · 16/01/2018 21:43

And what does the processing totally involve NickNacky?

Fingerprints etc.

OP posts:
Maddaman · 16/01/2018 21:44

I had a debate with the custody staff once about using clothes to strangle yourself. Pretty much my point was that if I wanted to I could strangle myself with the really thin tracksuits they provide.

Also asking them to stick the heating on doesn't work.

Tea is terrible. Microwave meals are awful.

I used to take my socks off roll them into a ball and try to throw them into the sink from the other side of the cell. Just be careful not to get them in the toilet.

Nicknacky · 16/01/2018 21:44

Better not tell you that she will have to remove her bra as well then!

She doesn't need to be questioned, it's a straight forward apprehension warrant. The court has issued it to appear before them, it's not issued by the police.

Emmageddon · 16/01/2018 21:45

Good luck Laura, I hope they simply process you and allow you to go home afterwards. This must be awful for you.

Maddaman · 16/01/2018 21:47

Out of interest Nicknacky - what do you guys have instead of cautions and reprimands?/

strangerhoesagain · 16/01/2018 21:48
Flowers
BastardGoDarkly · 16/01/2018 21:49

Urgh op, what a fucking nightmare. Take a good book.

Best of luck Brew

expatinscotland · 16/01/2018 21:49

Good luck! Wear elastic waist trackie/sweat trousers with no cord and a similar top and slip on shoes with no laces. Make sure your mobile is charged up but turned off so you can use it in the morning after your release ( you can't have it overnight).

I got a summons last year to appear as a witness and believe it or not, also in Scotland, plenty of people I spoke to thought it was optional to go.

Gwenhwyfar · 16/01/2018 21:50

Why will she have to remove her bra? Is that a suicide risk as well?
With a thin layer and no bra she would have no dignity in front of male staff.

Nicknacky · 16/01/2018 21:50

Be warned when you get there the office might be closed for the night and you will have to use the phone and wait. Most but not all offices close at night now.

You will be taken through, name, details etc taken. The custody Sgt will go through the reason why you are there, make sure you understand.

Then they will go through set questions about alcohol, drugs, health etc. Set questions so don't be offended. These take a bit longer if you have any issues as they need to be documented.

You will be given a pat down and property removed. They will talk you through it and make it as easy as possible. They might keep ahold of your arms while you are being processed. We are strict about keeping people under control at the charge bat however I don't always do it depending on who it peocessing and who the Sgt is!

You will be fingerprinted/photographed and Dna swab taken.

We have branded tea and coffee and it's not that bad! Some of our staff drink it. You will be checked on every hour and they will want to to give an acknowledgement so they know you are ok.

Of course it's scary, but it will only be for a few hours.

CompletelyUnknown · 16/01/2018 21:50

No bobbles, no jewellery, no tights etc. Wear nice warm socks and a jumper as well. Staff are decent and will look after you. Bus to court is early and what your wearing tonight is what you will wear at court. It'll be a slow night because of the weather so hopefully it'll be quiet in the cells. Get some sleep. It's not the end of the world. Everything will be explained to you.

Snowdrop18 · 16/01/2018 21:52

I'm so confused
I hope you're all right op

Nicknacky · 16/01/2018 21:52

mad We have fiscals fines, and the usual other disposals.

gwen the bra would be removed when she is in the cell, she goes in, turns her back removes it and hands it to the female turnkey. No lack of dignity required.

CompletelyUnknown · 16/01/2018 21:52

I second @Nicknacky please do not be concerned about the possible hands on approach. Everyone is treated the same. Do not be insulted by the questions either. It's like a script that must be read every single time someone is processed. The tea isn't the worst neither is the hot chocolate but avoid the coffee!!
