How old are you????

I know a lady should never be asked or reveal her age but I am interested to find out what age people on this forum started having children and when they stopped. The reason being today I went to the doctors. My eldest has had a terrible cough for over 6 weeks now so I just wanted to make sure he was alright. I had to take all 3 children (ds1 3, ds2 2 1/2 & DS£ 9 months). The way she (the doctor) spoke to me felt a little patronising. I just felt like a child who had done something without thinking i.e having more than 2.4 children. They boys were well behaved but she just kept referring to how many and how young they all are etc.

I had my first child at 26 and my last at 29. I was married (I still am), I own my own home; I'm educated so why then do people presume to have children in your twenties as oppose to your 30s is a juevenille mistake?????

i had dd1 at 25, dd2 5 days before i was 30, ds1 at almost 32 and ds2 at just turned 34

i was 17 when i had ds1, 19 with ds2 and was (and still am) 23 when i had dd...we are ttc again. I too am married, gettig a degree etc - ignore ignore ignore!

scorpio1, your right I should ignore the doctor's comments especially as she has no bearing on my life. But I guess it's the judgement that some how I haven't made the right decision. I forever bombarded with people comments of 'you've got your hands full ' and the like. Yes I have but I love them all and I'd do it again. I guess I'm just having a moan. Who says being 30 plus or just having the normal 2 children makes you a better parent?????

ooh yes, the 'normal' 2 - i like to tell people i don't know how it happens

And, in some cases yes age does matter - but you can be a terrible and unconfident mother at 15 or 45. IMO

I was 19 when i had ds1 who is 17 now.
I was 24 when i had ds2 who is nearly 13

I was 33 when i had dd1 who is 4
I was 35 when i had dd2 who is 2

I was treated differently when i had the dd's tbh. When i had the boys medical staff/HV's etc were patronising (not all but the majority were)

I ahve found it a more positive experience the older i got.

I do still get the old "god do you not have a tv" and "are they all by the same dad".

V Fucking annoying i tell you.

I had dd1 at 19 dd2 at 24 and ds3 at 33 They have all been asked if they have the same dad at some point ..They have.. not that it matters tho

My point is that exactly!! Why on earth would anyone ask you that tho??

It matters not but mine do have the same dad too. My dc have been present when people asked Sooo rude

When I had my first dd in 1979 ..Im old I know The hospital midwives insisted on calling me mrs to save my embarresment lol I wasn't married then and I'm still not married

Lol that is funny random. Me and dh have been together since i was 17 and we only got married last year (had been together 19 years)

I had ds1 in 1991 so they were quite happy to all me miss!!

1st at 18 now 15
2nd at 21 now 13
3rd at 23 now 10
4th at 24 now 9
5th and 6th at 27 now 7 and 7!
7th and 8th at 30 now nearly 4 and nearly 4!!

Me and dp have been together since 17 too..and still not married...i think a quiet wedding away on a beach somewhere when all the children are older would be nice...if i still like him that is!

Wow, two sets of twins idobelieveinghosts ?!

I had dd1 at 24, she's 6 now
dd2 at 25, she's 4.5 now,
and ds at 28, he's 17 mo.
I am now 30 and hoping there are many more babymaking years left in me ! Although poor dh has other ideas and thinks 3 is enough.
I personally think I had my dc at the right age for me, I was too immature before that, but my sister had her first at 19 and was as fantastic a mum then as she is now at 32, with 3 of them. So age means nothing, you are either good at it or not !

And to echo all the other comments, I too get sick of the haven't you got your hands full looks and remarks. Especially when I had the dds deliberately close together. People thought I was mad, but I wanted them to have the same close realtionship I had with my sister, and thankfully they do !

Idobelieveinghosts we had out 4 at the wedding. Small affair at Gretna Green and it was fab with them there.

Ds1 was the best man and ds2 walked me down the aisle (register office lol) and gave me away and the dd's just looked cute in their finery.

I am glad i waited till they could all be there.

I was 14 with my first, he is now 15

22 with my second, he is now 7

24 with my third, he is now 5

27 with my 4th, she is nearly 2

and 5 and 6 were born when I was 29, and are now 7 months

I plan on having at least a couple more.

All by same father (have never been asked that though), although I am no longer with him.

Would love more and couldn't care less what other people think about it tbh.

I do get sick of people looking gobsmacked at me, when I tell them that dd1 is nearly 11.

You can see them mentally trying to work out how old I am, and how old I was when I had her.

Twin boys when I was 25 - they are now 26

Single boy when I was 27 - now 24

Single boy when I was almost 41 - now 11

that is still sometimes my expression when I think of my lastborn Found out I was having him on my 40th birthday.

Take no notice of doctor - my doctor on my 6 week check up after having last son said, and I quote! 'No wonder you are still feeling poorly, ridiculous to have a child at your age.'

19 when I had DD (8 now)
25 when I had DS1 (2)
26 when I had DS2 (5 months)

I had ds when I was 25
dd1 I was 28[just] and dd2 I was 29. Now pg with no.4 and am 31 next month.
I too was/am married have a degree and msc worked full time until I had ds.

Had DD1 at 22, she is now 22
DS1 at 24, he is now 21
DS2 at 26, he is now 19
DS3 at 28, he is now 17
DD2 at 43, she is now 19 months

A hospital registrar passed a rude comment about contraception during an antenatal visit with DS3 but I wasn't brave enough to say what I wanted to.

Other than that I haven't had any comments from medical staff about my age/ number of children, except to ask if number 5 had the same dad (she does) when they were trying to work out risk factors for the delivery because of my age- apparently it makes a difference.
