Tracking antisemitism 2

continuing on from the last thread which morphed from a discussion about antisemitism to tracking it globally.

I’ve probably missed people out

to start off with something positive - this was a few yeshiva students response to antisemitism ❤️🕎

“Three Jewish college students from NJ were dancing at Denver International Airport. They said they were motivated to do this after the mass shooting in Australia: “We will not be scared or give in to the darkness, we will only add more and more light.” Happy Hanukkah!”

they’re playing my favourite zusha chanuka song, and one of them looks like DHs nephew who lives in America! Had to do a double take and check it wasn’t him!😆

I can vote here too and honestly - so many people, no options I feel good about.

Yeah there must be a lot of us who feel
this way at the moment.

ChristmasMantleStatue · 07/01/2026 16:41

Ditto. (Or Thritto) if that is thirded.

I am grimly watching reports about trump invading Venezuela and kidnapping the President. His colonialist ambitions re Greenland. Plus apparently the RAF bombing Syrian targets.

Leaving aside the pros and cons of any of it, - where are the marches against the US and the UK on a Saturday? Where is the apparent outrage? Where are the attacks on US and Uk citizens from all these so-called peace advocates who only want peace and marching against Israel, calling globalise the intifada, celebrating the murders of Jewish people in Manchester and Bondi which is not about the anti semtism at all, but all about wanting peace.

Aaah right- somehow it's different and the average US citizen isn't responsible for their government when everyone knows that all Jews in all the world are responsible for Israel.

ChristmasMantleStatue · 07/01/2026 16:48

I've worded it clumsily, but hope it makes sense.

In other news, i bought myself a necklace from Judaicawebstore. It's coming from Israel and today I got an e-mail from Royal Mail saying that my order from Israel is at their depot and they will notify me when it is out for delivery. I immediately felt such worry that it's being withheld and now not only will 'someone' know that i am Jewish they clearly now know where I live. It's created huge anxiety in me. Isn't that insane it's come to this? It's probably just a bread and butter auto response from RM.

SpuytenDuyvil · 07/01/2026 18:08

@PurpleThistle7 I know what you mean, but the risks from the Republicans are so great that it can't be exaggerated. I have to look at all the parts of me--Jewish, American, female. I have to vote with all these things in mind. And I firmly believe that the Republicans are using us as a wedge. I do not in anyway feel that they care about Jews and they will drop us as soon as they can't get anything out of us anymore. So I give to Jewish causes in the US and in Israel and do what I can, but I absolutely cannot vote Republican.

Oh gosh I’d never vote republican! I just feel abandoned. Just got an RBG tattoo to remind myself of all the strong representation we’ve had in history and to keep hold of that. I am just very, very sad.

BonneMamanAbricot · 07/01/2026 18:51

Israel isn't the aggressor here anyway. This whole war was kicked off by the deadliest and most brutal terrorist attack in Israel's history, a senior Hamas official vowed to repeat the attacks until Israel was 'annihilated', and they refused to surrender or let people evacuate. The marches have been organised by literal ex-Hamas chiefs, as well as organisations that are banned in the Middle East for their terrorist ties. A flotilla of known antisemites calls Israel evil and inhumane but felt safe to travel there and aggravate them multiple times. Antisemitic attacks went up 5000% after the terrorist attacks and crowds in London were filmed chanting the death toll and cheering.

There is no comparison. The 'outrage' is just the new acceptable face of antisemitism which has popped up right on schedule.

ChristmasMantleStatue · 07/01/2026 19:05

I know. That was sort of my point, badly made I admit.

Campaign against antisemitism: “…An audio bench, bearing the testimony of Holocaust survivor Chaim Ferster, has been smashed and dumped in a lake at Salford’s Clowes Park.

Several members of Chaim’s family were murdered in the Holocaust and he survived numerous concentration camps. The bench allowed people to hear Chaim’s experiences, keeping his story alive. The bench was placed in Clowes Park as he would walk there daily with his dog. He died in 2017 at the age of 94.

Appallingly, it appears as though the bench’s audio box was ripped out. The memories of Holocaust survivors must be preserved. Instead, they are being destroyed...”

The remains of a broken wooden bench floating on the surface of a body of water surrounded by pieces of broken ice.

Holocaust memorial bench destroyed and thrown in lake in Salford - BBC News

The vandalism has been described as a "vile act of hatred" and a "disgusting" act of antisemitism.

Locally known as Broughton park, it’s right in the heart of the orthodox community.

Truly vile behaviour. I can't comprehend how people function with this much hate inside them.

I hope his words were saved and the bench can be restored.

Thanks to Musk and Starlink news is getting out but is still not headline news. Nor has the Government made a statement. Guess Keir wants to sit on the fence.

It's interesting isn't it. Whenever the pro pal protesters were asked why they were marching every weekend for that conflict rather than any others we were told it's because the UK is an ally of Israel..... nothing to do with a hatred of Jews...hmmm

stomachamelon · 11/01/2026 15:17

It does appear the protests are gaining traction and escalating. I know Trump has offered to intervene but there is a lot at stake.

EllaDisenchanted · 11/01/2026 16:16

There’s been quite a few incidents but not had time to look into proper sources and post them.

pro Hamas chant outside synagogue in New York https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/newyork/news/pro-hamas-chant-queens-synagogue-protest/

Not recent , but only just seen it reported: lauren booth (Tony Blair’s sister in law) called October 7th legendary. I saw the video somewhere on X. There is an article on the telegraph but it’s behind a paywall and can’t see it elsewhere. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2026/01/09/blairs-sister-in-law-calls-october-7-legendary/

This one I didn’t originally post because there’s no confirmed motive. “A New Jersey man was arrested Saturday for allegedly throwing a rock at a school bus and fracturing the skull of an 8-year-old Jewish girl, the New Jersey State Police announced, though there is still no indication of a motive.”
https://www.jpost.com/diaspora/antisemitism/article-882915
there were no markings on the school bus and he’s been linked to other rock throwing incidents so I think this one is up in the air about whether it was antisemitism or not.

West Midlands police and the exposure of their fabrication and lies continues…

this one was a joint antisemitic and islamophobic attack:
https://www.jpost.com/diaspora/antisemitism/article-882912
swastikas spray painted on synagogue, school, and mosque in Canada.

Another arson attack: “The home of Germany’s antisemitism commissioner, Andreas Büttner, was set on fire overnight in a targeted attack.

His family was inside the house at the time.

This is the second attack against Büttner in the past 16 months. His car was previously vandalized with swastikas. This time, the attackers used the Hamas inverted red triangle, which is a symbol of terror…”https://x.com/combatasemitism/status/2008104980742361516?s=46

Pro-Hamas chant during protest outside Queens synagogue sparks outrage

In at least one video posted to social media, the pro-Palestinian demonstrators appear to be chanting their support of Hamas.

There have been others.

It's been a depressing week/weekend, though the Iranian protestors have given me some hope.

A lot of democrats have criticised the pro-Hamas chanting, with speculation on X suggesting their sudden desire to distance themselves from this rhetoric may be due to the (hopefully imminent) demise of the Islamic Regime.

On Tony Blair SIL, here's a link https://www.telegraph.co.uk/gift/7b59745757af8032
She seems awful and rather moronic.

There was also a protest outside Miznon in Notting Hill because its Israeli. https://x.com/OurFightUk/status/1999483089249059051?s=20 The police turned up but didn't stop it because apparently protesting against a restaurant because of the ethnicity of the owners is okay?

And somehow the West Midlands Police actually appear to be more incompetent and corrupt than we'd realised, with the leader of Green Lane mosque (which has repeatedly been accused of extremism and bigotry) on the interview panel of the chief constable https://www.telegraph.co.uk/gift/7b59745757af8032

Last night the Palestine Solidarity Campaign put out a call to local racists in Notting Hill to protest against Miznon, an Israeli-owned restaurant. They turned up, and harassed and intimidated staff and customers. Some claimed to be 'well informed' ye...

The government should be dragging WMP over the coals for lying, but precisely nothing seems to be happening.

There is no point Kier talking the talk (blurbing on about how 'we must protect our Jewish community') if he won't walk the walk and take proper action.

The report is apparently due out this week and there are rumours of MPs pressuring Starmer (or whoever makes the final call) to fire him but I won't believe it till I see it.

Diamond82 · 12/01/2026 00:52

Very bleak this week. Let’s hope some justice is served for the WMP. Seems doubtful though.

Meanwhile I look forward to not seeing all the Free Iran pins at the Golden Globes tonight.
