Tracking antisemitism 2

continuing on from the last thread which morphed from a discussion about antisemitism to tracking it globally.

I’ve probably missed people out

to start off with something positive - this was a few yeshiva students response to antisemitism ❤️🕎

“Three Jewish college students from NJ were dancing at Denver International Airport. They said they were motivated to do this after the mass shooting in Australia: “We will not be scared or give in to the darkness, we will only add more and more light.” Happy Hanukkah!”

they’re playing my favourite zusha chanuka song, and one of them looks like DHs nephew who lives in America! Had to do a double take and check it wasn’t him!😆

Oh and I wanted to add a comment to the ambulances thread (just went looking for it) but it’s not accepting new messages.

Sorry I was late to that one.

I will always add my voice in support of the Jewish community, wherever and whenever I can.

Unsurprisingly, I still haven’t had a reply from the Green Party to my email. It’s been three weeks and I don’t think I’ll get one either.

I don't know if anyone has read Tony Blair's opinion piece, reported in several papers.
He makes excellent points.
The Left's dangerous alliance with Islamism, and how it's fuelling antisemitism.

Who’d have thought I’d ever agree with Tony Blair.

LucyWestenra · 30/03/2026 08:41

An Instagram friend of mine is currently in Krakow and went to Auschwitz yesterday.

We were saying how all the Pro Palestine useful idiots should be made to visit at least one concentration camp.

It happens. If he's alarmed, there is good cause.

Im on my way to work, wearing my Jewish star. Amongst the student occupations and bigoted UCU strikers. Apparently I’ve gone full circle from scared to angry.

I also am very confused by Tony Blair being the voice of reason. It’s a lonely time politically - still have no idea what to vote for in May, everything sounds awful but I need to work out the less awful option.

I think it's entirely possible to disagree with someone's politics, yet give credit to what they say. Blair's article holds validity for me. I've discussed this with various people, it's been shut down because "Tony Blair". That's as limiting as these unthinking people on the marches, imo. A blinkered view.
I'm very impressed that you are wearing your star, because that takes courage and could make you a target. Sadly.
I'm glad you've found your anger, and I hope you keep safe 🙏 🌼

In awe of your strength. 💐

Absolutely! I’m Israeli by birth but grew up in the states and moved to the uk - so I vote in the us and Uk. The voting situation in the states is complicated too - agree socially with the left, but as a Jewish Israeli that can be deeply problematic. I hope I can see the positives when they are there, regardless of my more general opinions.

Absolutely. I have found an independent to vote for in the local elections - a woman who seems to match my ideas.
In the General Election it'll be about keeping out the Greens and Reform.

SpuytenDuyvil · 30/03/2026 16:29

@PurpleThistle7 I think there is no choice here in the US. We don't have a left at all. They might be called "the left" but it is only because they aren't far far right. The Democrats are firmly in the middle, much more like Tories than Labour, and the Republicans have been infected with Trump and are so far right and fascistic it's hard to believe. We vote for the least bad option. What is happening at the Federal level is so damaging and it will take years to fix. It is weighing on me wiith Pesach coming. My grandparents and parents got out of Germany by the skin of their teeth. If Trump keeps this up, when is the time to go?

I am so sorry.

I am trying my best to be an ally, I really am.

It’s not you! It’s them, I think the direct comparison with Islamophobia is too much for them to handle.

Well I hear you. My (British) husband hears you.

I am so angry and so sorry.

(and the Green Party still hasn’t replied to my email)

LucyWestenra · 01/04/2026 17:31

What can we do?

Those of us who want to be allies, what can we do?

Seriously asking.

Speaking out on here doesn’t seem to make a difference.

Emailing the Green Party about their disgusting conduct doesn’t seem to either because there’s no response.

What can those of us who really do want to help actually do?

LucyWestenra · 01/04/2026 17:33

And I am looking for ideas, I’m not wringing my hands as in ‘oh nothing makes a difference anyway so I may as well forget about it’

LucyWestenra · 01/04/2026 17:35

Why am I still arguing with people?

it’s pointless 😭

I tend to feel that there isn't much that can be done.
You can donate to Hatzolah and the CST, and tackle antisemitic content on FB. I reported one particularly vile one and it was deleted; not heard back about the other.

Edited to add, and not vote Green!

Thank you.

I most definitely wouldn’t vote Green!! They seem to have amassed an almost cult like following, with their supporters saying they can’t possibly be antisemitic because their leader is Jewish.

I agree with this @LucyWestenra
Some of the people on those threads are completely radicalised and there’s no getting through to them.
Speaking up and pointing out when things are wrong in real life, (only when safe to do so of course) is great because so few people do it. So if you are doing that then just know that you are making a difference.

It doesn’t feel like it’s enough though.

I mean, what happened to Never Again?

I am so ashamed at what’s going on in my home country, I really am. The threat to the Jewish community no longer comes from the so called far right (unless you count in the hardcore Hitler followers), but more the left.

Which is scary because it’s so casual; hidden among rainbow flags and under the umbrella of ‘we all love each other’.

LucyWestenra · 01/04/2026 18:46

I’m sorry, I’m trying so hard but it seems impossible.

They just keep coming at you from all sides

Its exhausting (and I know that’s nothing compared to what you must experience on a daily basis but it’s also affecting me because my mental health is so poor)

Why is Mumsnet allowing all those posts to stand

Perhaps you could ask for the thread to be closed now?
I’m sorry to hear about your mental health.
It’s hard not to feel in complete despair. I think many of us live in hope that people will realise what’s going on eventually. So much of it is ridiculous, how can they not! For example The Green Party prancing around the stage with a man dressed in some kind of bondage while speaking about Islam, is um interesting to say the least.
But anyone holding so much hate for a group of people they don’t know is clearly miserable inside.
