It’s 1 am here. I was gonna work because obviously working with the kids around and all the war interruptions is challenging but clearly not happening 🤦‍♀️ I’m too wired to sleep as well. Not had a siren all day , just pre alerts so I think my brain has gone into waiting mode.

In all seriousness, I can't even imagine what that's like. I can only hope it ends soon and you get some peace 🙏

we mostly keep sane with a stupid amount of terrible humour (memes for days), dropping standards/expectations in everything to a ridiculously low level, way too much screen time, and I do say a lot of tehillim (psalms) during the sirens, it’s very calming. It’s an hour by hour day by day existence.

What I have come to learn and respect about Jews is your love of life. That will prevail.

Don't you just love it when people explain their definition of what anti semitism is to Jewish people? With a side order of how we are all just over sensitive and deserve it anyway.

Ah, the explaining of antisemitism to the Jewish posters, it's like an extreme form of mansplaining, isn't it?

If I get a chance later I’ll send a pic. This thing is tiny- I cannot believe the noise it produces. It’s too new sadly to develop a fault. At the moment we keep banishing them to the balcony with it (sorry neighbours) but we are in thunderstorm season so it’s actually been rainy! (The comments on my WhatsApp groups are epic- was that thunder or a cluster bomb?! Etc etc)

IRGC definitely mad about something this morning. We had two pre alerts and two sirens so far, although I slept through one pre alert, and my poor friend in a different city has had 6 sirens! Was someone big assassinated last night?!

Who knows. Trump claims that the Iranians are talking, they claim not. I'm just about to listen to Frank Gardner's latest analysis.
Nothing further as yet on the arson attack, so we shall see. The private donations are at least £1.5m, which is excellent.
The charity's work continues.

The news continues to be super weird and I don’t entirely understand who is in charge anymore. Students are occupying a building at my work and covering it with Palestinian flags but sadly for them they’ve done this so many times that no one really cares. Everything is exhausting.

Because my brain can only hold onto so much information at once I got really confused by a news article about Riga getting hit by a drone and trying to work out how Iran went that far off target because I actually forgot about another war happening right now. Honestly 🤪

Actually @EllaDisenchanted please send me the details of the karaoke machine so I can have one delivered to my brother's kids to help ease them through this war as well. Maybe I'll get them one each?!

I love my brother but he also bought my kids a mini drum set as a lockdown present and I've been waiting for the perfect revenge ever since. I feel like the whistles I bought them hasn't quite evened the score yet.

Sounds like the students aren't given enough work if they have so much time for this utter nonsense on such a regular basis?! No way I would have had time for this level of sheer indulgence when I was a student.

Whoever makes Palestinian flags must be making an absolute killing. Those students need to focus on work, I think.
I saw film of some students barging in to a lecture and disrupting it because the lecturer was Israeli and a "war criminal". He gave them short shrift. Turns out he'd done national service in about 1980.

My dad was in the Israeli army in 1980 when I was a baby. He has no patience for anyone who has anything ridiculous to say about it.

I do have to stop myself telling these students to stop being so lazy and go do something if they feel that strongly. I manage to have a full time job, two volunteer jobs, two kids and a life so they can certainly go do something useful. But I know that’s not really the point.

I can blame it on my lack of coffee at that moment but it took me an embarrassingly long time to work out what had happened. Too many scary things to remember them all apparently.

They've been drawn into a very simplistic narrative, which they believe to be good v evil. The university offered the lecturer could work from home and he said no! Which I thought was excellent. He said he's not ashamed of his national service.

They took out the commander of the navy, so maybe linked to that, but who knows if there's any strategy or order there anymore.

Thank you to those who have so excellently stood up for us on that horrible other thread. It started off so well. I do wonder if it’s the same few posters who take it to a place of absolutely vile antisemitism.

In other news, that Doctor Aladwan (should I even call her a Doctor at this point?!) has been charged with inviting support for hamas. I think the case is still ongoing though, seems like she’s back in court tomorrow.
