Ok I have taken the bait because I think it's important we have somewhere to chat and decompress.

There is an awful lot of name changing going on and we must remember that although it should be, this is not a safe space. We are followed here and that is worth considering (especially if you don't want to be deleted)

I am grateful for all the love and support though and I thank each and every one of you. You are all stronger than you know. I wish I had something profound to say but I don't...: this will have to do!

Shabbat shalom everyone. Hope shabbos brings you all respite, peace and comfort.

Just checking in on everyone :)

I've not long posted on the last page of thread Towards A Sustainable Peace.

Most posters are in cloud cuckoo land on that. Palestinians will have to accept restrictions similar to those Germans and Japanese has to accept to this day.

Anything else is fantasy nonsense.

etmoiandme · 06/01/2024 22:48

@DownNative Good to see you back DN.

I've had to bite my tongue a lot on there today. I tried getting a bit involved this morning but people were being so aggressive that I gave up. I have better things to do with my weekend than try to repeatedly explain that if it's genuinely sustainable peace they want, it's going to take a while. People aren't accepting it though. They want what they want, without any compromise (or concept of realism 🙈). It's frustrating.

They forget what politics actually is - the art of the possible. And what they're demanding isn't possible because its unrealistic as you correctly point out.

They also ignore the other maxim - don't let perfect be the enemy of good. In other words, they're rejecting the fact that a solution simply has to be good enough.

Not perfect as in zero restrictions on any Palestinian State.

Cloud cuckoo land as there WILL be restrictions on Palestinians since they're not powerful in the region in any meaningful sense.

They'll learn the hard way that they can demand x, y and z all they want, but it won't happen.

Best to let them believe in their claptrap sometimes. I was only dipping in that thread briefly anyway! 🤣

stomachameleon · 06/01/2024 23:14

@Humdingerydoo I am regularly called all sorts and there are several posters I won't interact with on principle.
Do you think when we are proved right about things we will get an apology? I doubt it (sigh)
Good to see you back @DownNative just read your replies on the peace thread.

I'm still waiting for an apology for the whole hospital thing at the beginning of the war. The one where Al Jazeera filmed a rocket coming from Gaza hitting a hospital parking lot, and then swiftly deleted the video from their website and joined everyone in claiming it was an Israeli airstrike killing 500 people. I still want to know how people genuinely believed they'd counted 500 bodies in under 30 mins.

So I wouldn't hold your breath :)

stomachameleon · 06/01/2024 23:33

I am going to say this on here rather than the actual thread for self explanatory reasons but the constant posting about the content of SA 'genoicide' claim is laughable too. And shows how little people read before posting....
Quote from former MK is a footballer from Maccabi and Beitar Danny Neuman.

Other quotes are deliberately misinterpreted or taken out of context.

I could give loads of examples. They refer to Hamas not the Palestinians.

The Hertzog quote... which he explicitly said when asked what he meant. And that has been left out of the document.

Anyway (and breathe) I had to get that out.

@stomachameleon that SA thread really is fantastic nonsense.

ChickenSoupAndLokshen · 07/01/2024 09:07

But they know it all. And won't let facts, politics, military strategy/ tactics and common sense get in the way of finding ways to paint Israel as baby-killing genocidists. (Don't think that's an actual word but you get my gist.)

Boycotting Starbucks and chanting support for the Houthi while claiming they never see antisemitism anywhere.

PurpleChrayne · 07/01/2024 11:15

Hi all!

I'm back after a nice rest from social media over Shabbat. DH was down in London for a bar mitzvah so it was a quiet one for me and the DCs.

Just catching up on what's been going on.

I continue to give massive eye-rolls to Australia, Ireland, and South Africa. Countries with such histories, casting stones...

stomachameleon · 07/01/2024 12:41

The 'horror of Hamas' needs a part two of anyone is interested. We are so limited to where these things can be discussed.

Absurd my post above has been deleted. No matter.

You know that thread doesn't have serious posters when you see them saying that Israel must be demilitarised alongside any Palestinian State. 🤦‍♂️

Nope, that's not how it works or will work. Especially not when Iran has its proxies such as Hezbollah along Israel's borders.

Far easier to completely demilitarise Palestinians than Israelis and Arab States like Egypt and Saudi Arabia wouldn't fancy their chances at trying to force Israel to demilitarise. 🤦‍♂️

There isn't really a political AND military history minded poster in that thread.

So a lurker who shouldn't be lurking over here is reporting posts? What a sad way to spend your time.

25milesfromhome · 07/01/2024 16:17

Some busy little antisemites today.

DownNative · 07/01/2024 16:34

And one of them deigned to claim the IRA decommissioned and the British Army left Northern Ireland.

Oh, how I laughed! And laughed at that!

Clearly demonstrates a lack of education and knowledge. That's what I mean about people believing in the propaganda of the peace process - it doesn't line up with reality.
