Ok I have taken the bait because I think it's important we have somewhere to chat and decompress.

There is an awful lot of name changing going on and we must remember that although it should be, this is not a safe space. We are followed here and that is worth considering (especially if you don't want to be deleted)

I thought I'd seen it all on here, but apparently there's no issue with a mob abusing and hounding a Jewish man out a theatre. And the actual flag scenario is such a red herring in this.

In other news - completely unrelated to any threads, of course, as I know that would be against the rules - it strikes me as interesting that those who moan about how they can't say anything these days without being accused of antisemitism, are very quick to take offence and/ or demand further proof in the face of actual documented examples of antisemitism.

It's just so blatant lately that it's not about loving Palestinians anywhere near as much as it is about hating Israelis. It's awful. It should have been easy enough for everyone to just say "What Paul Currie said and did was awful". We can even disagree about whether or not it's antisemitic but it's sure as hell inappropriate and intimidating. Regardless of nationality.

@Humdingerydoo it's almost as if certain people are determined to dig in whatever is said/ information is presented.

And what makes me laugh Is that both those threads are a done deal! Fully evidenced. People banned/ not allowed to stand/ have apologised and it's still not accepted.

It's incredibly tiresome. I was really hoping that someone who isn't exactly pro-Israel would step in and tell them to stop being ridiculous.

If it's tiresome for us, imagine how tiring it must be for certain posters who seem to be dedicating every waking hour to goading Jews on Mumsnet. The mental gymnastics to persistently twist reality must be knackering.

I usually hold back calling someone antisemitic unless I'm sure but in the case of Currie I have no doubts. He would have clocked pretty quickly the guy was Israeli, which also made it likely he was Jewish. He knew what he was doing, and he knew what the implications would be but the current climate makes it permissible (or "brave" apparently). And now he becomes the victim in all this. If it had been a Russian or Chinese citizen, I think it's safe to presume he wouldn't have whipped the crowd into a hateful frenzy against one person.

@etmoiandme the whipping into a frenzy is demonstrated regularly on here so it's easy to see how it happens.

@stomachamelon Yes for sure, and I have no doubts there's some who would have gleefully joined in the chants had they attended that 'comedy' show.
