Ok I have taken the bait because I think it's important we have somewhere to chat and decompress.

There is an awful lot of name changing going on and we must remember that although it should be, this is not a safe space. We are followed here and that is worth considering (especially if you don't want to be deleted)

I had no idea we had so many military strategists on Mumsnet, it's been a real education on the middle east board.

I am glad the latest 2 hostages to be released were found alive and seemingly well.

My thoughts are that people who can actually do anything to resolve this conflict are actively doing so and the rest of us are bystanders.

Like most people irl I want to see hostages come home and the horror to stop, everyone has an opinion on that but like they say..opinions are like arseholes, everybody has them.

I have moved away from the middle-east board because it is too toxic and I honestly think it is better not to fuel the fire. There are some right frothers on there atm. Loved the hamster wheel comment!

On informal Israeli news chat I am on the current info is that "Mossad chief David Barnea will be traveling to Cairo tomorrow to take part in hostage release talks" and then later: "Biden: We are working on a deal to release the hostages that will lead to a period of calm for at least six week".
