Ok I have taken the bait because I think it's important we have somewhere to chat and decompress.

There is an awful lot of name changing going on and we must remember that although it should be, this is not a safe space. We are followed here and that is worth considering (especially if you don't want to be deleted)

I am grateful for all the love and support though and I thank each and every one of you. You are all stronger than you know. I wish I had something profound to say but I don't...: this will have to do!

It is very sad but also very powerful. I hope that the /building posters are not defaced.

How odd..just got deleted for mentioning an echo....

Fingers crossed! I also hope they don't have an explosive device planted on their grounds like the Israeli embassy in Stockholm had last week. Luckily security found it before it could cause any damage.

If terrorists only exist in the Palestinian territories because of how oppressed they are, I wonder what excuse there is for pro-Palestinian terrorism outside of the area? And I would include attempts at actively ruining business as acts of terrorism, as well as the constant intimidation of anyone who doesn't agree with them or do as they say. So for example shouting at children leaving McDonald's. When did terrorising others to get what you want become acceptable?! When did bullying become ok and even something that people encourage?

ARGH!!!!

@Humdingerydoo agreed.

Completely agree.
In the UK we've seen so many youngsters used and groomed, how do we turn their energies into a positive for them and our wider society, how do we protect them?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 10/02/2024 12:36

Agreed.

stomachameleon · 11/02/2024 17:19

@Humdingerydoo just checking in to make sure you are ok after having your history rewritten.

@Humdingerydoo just checking in to make sure you are ok after having your history rewritten.

I didn't realise it was just my family that were affected, and also my husband's (rather extensive) family. What are the chances!

Thanks for checking in though, I'm fine. Just once again giving up! They don't want to learn, they just want to hate everything about Israel. History started in 1947 and that's that.

Hope you're doing well!

stomachameleon · 11/02/2024 17:41

@Humdingerydoo it's getting harder to debate because (let's be honest) no one wants to really. It's a waste of energy.

I remember early on a couple of really personal comments were made to me and it really upset me. One poster apologised and one dug in. You can't argue with stupid.

Oh good, they're back to sharing tweets by Owen Jones 😅 It's one of those days.

EllaDisenchanted · 11/02/2024 22:18

I just completely lost it on a thread that has now been pulled. I am really not in the mood for narishkeit. I had probably better stay away until I calm down.

Two attempted terrorist attacks today (Jerusalem and Beitar Illit), neither successful thank Gd.

EllaDisenchanted · 11/02/2024 22:18

... and Owen Jones is the definition of narishkeit

I just came on here to ask if you're ok as I don't think I've ever seen you get angry before. The thread has been reinstated so just saw what you'd written - you're always so eloquent (even when angry!).

Anyway, I hope you're ok.

EllaDisenchanted · 11/02/2024 22:58

thanks @Humdingerydoo ❤I'm ok, I'm calming down. I definitely won't be reading Owen Jones though😬

Humdingerydoo · 11/02/2024 23:04

Yes, that's probably wise @EllaDisenchanted ! Steer well clear of him and his admirers!! Probably a lot easier to do in Israel than in the UK. I'm very jealous!

EllaDisenchanted · 11/02/2024 23:08

Honest truth - I'm not really ok. I will be, I know I'll pull it together, and I'll calm down, but the war is very much still a constant presence here. I have strong faith in G-d and that helps, but there are painful moments, week in week out, and sometimes, like tonight, I do get tipped over the edge. Usually I channel it into tehillim, and try to do positive actions that make a difference, and be a better parent/wife, but it's a lot.

You also have Jeremy Corbyn - I'll say no more 😈

Humdingerydoo · 11/02/2024 23:15

I'm sorry. It sounds really, really tough. I have a lot of family in Israel (some who live a bit too close to Gaza for comfort) and I really can't even begin to imagine what this must all be like for all of you. Trying to get on with life while war rages on and terrorists do what they do best - terrorise. It must be utterly surreal.

I'm a bit jealous of your faith - I've never been a believer but I imagine it has the potential to bring so much comfort in a way that nothing else can. So hold on to it and just keep doing your best. It's all you can do.

And maybe for your own sanity, don't read the reply you received on the other thread 🙃

MooseBreath · 11/02/2024 23:20

Wishing you and your family well, @EllaDisenchanted. You phrased everything so beautifully. It must be so difficult in your position at the moment. I hope this online community, your real-life community, and your God offer you the support you very much deserve. Flowers

We are all here for each other. Do not waste your time on those whose greatest understanding of this situation is learnt from tik tok. How they can belittle lived experience is beyond me.

Hugs to all that need them.

It's been ramping up a bit the past couple of days, hasn't it? Everything Israel says or does is turned into a negative. It's exhausting. And they make all these assumptions about what we think and feel and really, really run with it.

The hamster wheel of performative outrage is spinning so fast it’s in danger of catching alight. Every time I think there’s no more space on it, someone even dumber hops on. Squeak squeak squeak.
