Ok I have taken the bait because I think it's important we have somewhere to chat and decompress.

There is an awful lot of name changing going on and we must remember that although it should be, this is not a safe space. We are followed here and that is worth considering (especially if you don't want to be deleted)

I am grateful for all the love and support though and I thank each and every one of you. You are all stronger than you know. I wish I had something profound to say but I don't...: this will have to do!

Hit me up with a pair please.

stomachameleon · 03/02/2024 21:56

@noblegiraffe are you trying to coax @Trulywonderful? You know she loves anything with JC. ;)

I just wanted to stop by and let you know that you are all still in my thoughts and prayers. I'm a but concerned about the current conflict between the US and the Iranian proxy forces, but I don't think it will escalate.

I found this article interesting and touching. I was familiar with the practice of tahara but had no idea that it wasn't done when the person was a victim of antisemitic violence.

Indeed she does. Where is she?

Hope all is ok @Trulywonderful

@quantumbutterfly I've been thoroughly enjoying watching you slowly but surely completely give up on any attempt at hiding your disdain for some posters 😂😂😂 I've been literally laughing out loud at some of your comments as I can feel your eye rolls 😂😂😂😂😂

quantumbutterfly · 06/02/2024 21:48

There aren't enough eye rolls in the world. 😁 And I don't feel too cruel because it just bounces right off them.

stomachameleon · 06/02/2024 21:51

Absolutely.... sometimes I feel like giving up. Confusedthey don't care and won't see anything but their own view.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 06/02/2024 23:18

That thread is toxic. Posters openly blame Israel for 7/10 and describe Hamas' atrocities as 'resistance' and when called on their pro-terrorist sympathies demand evidence and then gaslight posters by saying they twisted words or are seeing things. I've been leaving lots of thanks to posters such as Quantum who are countering this but don't have the emotional energy at this point to engage and particularly since I think that the main protagonists get their jollies from causing upset.

stomachameleon · 07/02/2024 06:57

@YetAnotherSpartacus and the dodgy sources that are proclaimed as fact. It's like critical thought has skipped a lot of those posters in order to quickly post their 'finds'.

It's laughable really.

OP posts:
YetAnotherSpartacus · 07/02/2024 09:57

I think they are more duplicitous than this and know exactly what they are doing. They intend to disrupt and cause anguish and hurt.

etmoiandme · 07/02/2024 20:45

Hello to those of you still around and taking one for the team! X

stomachameleon · 07/02/2024 20:58

Evening all.
Some of the posters are just so personal and attacking. From a supposedly intelligent crowd most can't debate.
It's hard to see how it will go the other way... back in its box.
Sending a hug to all. It's been tough at times.

I take my hat off to all of you still doing battle over there, I really do. I've had it with those boards. I don't even read them any more. There's a core group who are not there in good faith and who thrive on causing hurt and twisting people's words. They have nothing to say beyond accusing posters who disagree with them of supporting genocide.

EllaDisenchanted · 07/02/2024 22:45

sorry @MissConductUS 😟that is extremely frustrating.

MooseBreath · 07/02/2024 22:54

@MissConductUS I see this all the time on here. As a Canadian, I have experienced many posters being nasty about Americanisms (spellings, culture, media, etc). The baby names section is particularly bad for it. I was told my son's British name is "horrible and American".

stomachameleon · 08/02/2024 06:55

@MissConductUS I reported too. Replace American with another nationality....Indian? And there would be uproar.

OP posts:
0palfrootee · 08/02/2024 07:15

That's awful. MN's moderation is a joke.

Humdingerydoo · 08/02/2024 07:55

"I'm really trying not to be anti American but most of the contributors do seem to appear to have a low reading age." Not trying particularly hard at not being anti American, are they 😳 Absolutely disgraceful.

Humdingerydoo · 08/02/2024 07:58

(I reported it now as well)

MissConductUS · 08/02/2024 14:08

It was finally deleted. Thanks to everyone who reported it.

I was a real pest about it. I find it helps if you reply to the standard "we're looking at it" email, asking why it wasn't deleted. I suggested unconscious bias as a reason and copied justine @ mumsnet . com on the email. I think that did the trick.

You have to really push back when this happens.

Well done for standing your ground! I have a feeling the poster wasn't a genuine one and was just trying to rile people up. Absolute twerp.

I hope you're ok - I imagine it must get pretty exhausting dealing with that level of absurdity on a regular basis!

I'm fine, thanks for asking. I'm a New Yorker. We're pretty accustomed to rudeness. 😃

Actually, New Yorkers aren't rude. We're just direct. I understand that's true of Israelis as well. It's a good thing.

And I hope that every time I get them to confront their own anti-American bias, they'll be a little more aware of it next time. I agree, by the way, about that poster not being genuine. She or he never posted on the thread after it started.

It's definitely true of Israelis! I live in a very mixed area with a lot of English speakers, including a lot of Americans (lots from the 5 towns and NY too).
