Ok I have taken the bait because I think it's important we have somewhere to chat and decompress.

There is an awful lot of name changing going on and we must remember that although it should be, this is not a safe space. We are followed here and that is worth considering (especially if you don't want to be deleted)

I am grateful for all the love and support though and I thank each and every one of you. You are all stronger than you know. I wish I had something profound to say but I don't...: this will have to do!

Just wanted to say kol hakevod to those who are still showing up for duty on the Conflict boards.

I haven't looked over there since I hid the board in December. Haven't got the bandwidth. But more strength to those that can manage it.

The last couple of days have been rough, am really feeling it all. Am sick again with yet another virus, immune system not coping with the grief and stress.

One of the hostages Hamas just released a video of was known to my DC's partner. It's very close to home and devastatingly sad.

I think I need a trip to Israel soon to touch base and feel whole.

Though I guess it will be a long time, if ever, before we will ever feel normal again.

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Yes stress isn't good for the immune system is it.

I can't imagine to travel over there at the moment. Though in some ways it could be healing to be near people that understand rather than whatabout or minimise etc. All the sirens would do my head in with worry though.

I do the antisemitism and protests type threads on the conflict board but mostly stay away from the main threads about the actual conflict. A lot of the others are braver and more mentally able than me to deal with those type of threads.

Trulywonderful · 17/01/2024 23:43

For those of you not on the conflict board Giraffe's poll about the Yemen chants protesters are now doing

The end result was good and hopefully is a representation of how the general public feel about the Yemen/Houthi chants

One thing I have noticed about the Houthis ship attacks and the strikes in Yemen from the USA and Britain is at least two users have swapped position on this one

A couple of users that are always negative about anything Israel does are supporting the airstrike on the Houthis

This is very interesting to me. One has said about the higher cost of things and the UK can't afford that. So the UK had to chose but to support airstrike

I am wondering perhaps when the conflict may affect some people personally they them stop the flag waving and change their tune. If so this is very hypocritical

Trulywonderful · 18/01/2024 23:32

Well this very reasonable resolution has annoying some people on the conflict board:

The European Parliament passed a resolution stipulating that any call for a ceasefire in the Hamas-Israel war should be conditional on the dismantling of Hamas and the immediate and unconditional release of all the hostages.

Trulywonderful · 18/01/2024 23:33

If people show you who they are believe them

Trulywonderful · 21/01/2024 00:34

Gone very quiet on here

Totally not in the mood for a couple of bad faith actors today. Finally cracked said something after biting my tongue for ages

etmoiandme · 21/01/2024 00:42

Bonsoir Truly!

I wrote out a ridiculously long reply before in a thread and then thought...fuck it and deleted it. I haven't got the energy to bang my head off a brick wall.

25milesfromhome · 21/01/2024 00:45

Same same. Absolutely sickened by the Holocaust inversion going on today. The worst offender is only doing it for attention because they want to pick a fight with Jewish posters and I can’t actually be bothered tonight.

etmoiandme · 21/01/2024 00:54

I hear you 25. It's becoming more obvious now that several posters (many keep name changing) are just persisting with those threads with the sole intention to wind up and pick a fight with Jews. If we all fucked off, I bet you anything they'd disappear too.

Trulywonderful · 21/01/2024 01:23

I have been dreading the Holocaust fuckwittery we will get this week

They are so predictable and so us the rest of social media

Seen a couple of protest videos today that were delightful on the subject as you can imagine

Humdingerydoo · 21/01/2024 08:03

Yes, yesterday was... Interesting. People ignoring posts that say something they don't want to hear is quite frustrating. I thought my previous posts must have been deleted at one point as people were posting as though my opinions hadn't been made 😅 it's a bit like talking to my kids - I often feel as though I must be invisible when I ask them to get dressed or turn off the TV. Apparently this invisibility applies to MN too

etmoiandme · 21/01/2024 10:17

@Humdingerydoo You deserved a medal for your patience in that 'discussion'.

I'm finding myself being drawn into a thread on there again. Probably because what I should really be doing is digging out the masking tape to get ready for painting the lounge.

The dismissal and denial of antisemitism is honestly so upsetting. I think many of the posters know that and yet carry on anyway. I watched the 3 videos by the CAS on twitter earlier - they made my blood run cold. So frightening to see those views being expressed in the UK, so casually. Of course they use the get out of jail free card of saying zionist rather than Jew, thus allowing themselves to shrug off antisemitism accusations.

stomachameleon · 21/01/2024 10:56

Bravo @Humdingerydoo it was a horrible thread and you really stuck with it.

I get ignored on a regular basis. :)

I have just caught another poster sock puppeting on another thread. I think we both commented on that too.

Seeking a workaround for Holocaust inversion by claiming that Jews participating in genocide are actually controlled and funded by Christian Zionists is reaching a previously unmatched level of fuckwittery.
It also has all the hallmarks of having been c&p from one of those catchy little infographics on instagram.

quantumbutterfly · 21/01/2024 12:16

Hello, would it make any of you feel better to know that some extremists have been caught because they aren't too bright and got overconfident on social media.
It's a useful thing that they stand up and be seen.

etmoiandme · 21/01/2024 12:21

@quantumbutterfly Yes, who are they?

quantumbutterfly · 21/01/2024 13:05

They? From my observations, the people who are on a path to cause harm.

etmoiandme · 21/01/2024 13:15

@quantumbutterfly Ah sorry I thought you were referring to a specific incident!

quantumbutterfly · 21/01/2024 13:21

I recollect a man from Reading convicted after asking how to make bomb on twitter, and a man from Redhill who was cagey about his hard drive to a pc repairer and was found to be making bombs and calling for jihad...if you want specific incidents of brainlessness.
If I were GCHQ I might be interested in the goldmine of foolish social media users. The folk who work there are a lot smarter and more organised than me.

Ah right! I got confused, my brain seems to be having a sleepy Sunday - I thought that some online extremist had had their arse handed to them. Was hoping it might have been Mohammed El Kurd!
