Seriously. Is it the same few people just name changing or is it really this toxic in the UK? There is so much poisonous Jewish hatred on here. I'm not talking hatred of Israel, just vile antisemitism on so many posts now.

I truly think I have to step away before I lose faith in humanity. Why does MN seem to attract so many hateful posters? Maybe it's the anonymity.

I can't keep calling it out. Im exhausted and actually deeply disturbed by it now.

@DownNative I miss your posts in the ME section. It's a shame a lot of the more educated posters have been chased off. But probably not worth it at the moment.

I've just posted in this thread as someone tried using Northern Ireland as an example of dealing with an insurgency successfully:

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/conflict-in-the-middle-east/4946131-how-do-you-successfully-and-humanely-fight-an-insurgency?page=2

But they flat out misunderstand what led to the Belfast Agreement which was defeat for PIRA.

It's really NOT something Israel can emulate because the two conflicts are massively different anyway!

Just shows you how many don't understand different conflicts, they think one size fits all and fall for the propaganda of the peace process.

The Troubles was a walk in the park compared to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict! 🤦‍♂️

Page 2 | How do you successfully and humanely fight an insurgency? | Mumsnet

As applicable to countless other conflicts from any group of people in conflict with a standing army, people - insurgents/guerillas/franc-tireurs who...

@DownNative Star completely agree (sorry if that seems patronising can't find the applause!)

No problem at all, @Stomacharmeleon ! 👍

Is there a way to stop certain boards showing up at all? I never added the Conflict in the ME board to my favourite topics but every time I open chat the threads are there. I'm on the phone app.

I've logged on via laptop and managed to unfollow the topic for my sanity.

Did anyone else see the poster informing me that all Jews are "white functioning"? That was a real eye opener. Apparently Jews never experience discrimination based on their religion or ethnicity 🙃

Yes I did and it was absolutely disgusting. I think there was a comment in the same thread basically arguing to defund the CST and stop giving money to Jews to combat antisemitism. It amazes me that women who present as antiracists will quite brazenly shout “stop playing the antisemite card”, completely blind to their own bigotry and hate. Following people over to the J Mnetters Board and actually admitting to spying on the posts is a particular low point. It's just stark bollock naked antisemitism across multiple threads now and honestly the whole section should be proscribed by an act of parliament (obviously not being serious before one of them accuses me of trying to shut down free speech).

I actually think MN are doing a woeful job now of moderating and it's enabling this shit to be normalised. Posts that wouldn't have stood a few months ago are just a free for all now. Freedom of speech is all very well but they’re standing by watching the same people repeatedly goad Jews and whip their fellow travellers into a frenzy against Jewish posters - “they”, “Zionists”, “pro-genociders” "pro-Israeli" (what does that even mean?!). I've just seen a poster refer to the "Zionist project". They know most British Jews identify as Zionist but they just don't understand the meaning of the word. It's all very, very intentional. You’ve really got to ask whether the moderators need anti-racism training or frankly just agree with them. That so many posters have learned how to cloak their bigotry by not doing an explicit ‘hate speech’ post is the frustrating part, although they do forget themselves at times. The hate underpinning their posts is absolutely clear as day though.

Clearly most Jewish Mumsnetters are too scared to post now as it’s just so rabid, obsessive and downright nasty. It’s been quite painful to see so many articulate, level- headed and polite Jewish posters (and their allies) keep their cool and present factual and objective counter arguments to be met with pure aggression and overly emotive hyperbole.

etmoiandme · 23/11/2023 11:17

@DownNative I really miss your posts too. My DH is Irish so I actually chatted to him a bit about some of your posts.

etmoiandme · 23/11/2023 11:20

Towerofsong · 22/11/2023 17:34

Someone was posting last night that they come over here to read our posts and report the ones they don't like.

Today's posts seem particularly vitriolic. I've been feeling a bit more resilient for a couple of days but after 10 minutes on the other boards I now feel like either putting my head through a wall, or packing up and moving to Israel. Haven't figured out which yet!

Yes, yesterday's were genuinely awful. I'm just going to hide most of the threads now. I think basically it's banging your head off a brick wall trying to instigate reasoned and calm engagement so can only suggest we stop giving them the Jewish oxygen they're craving, which is why I think a lot of them are there - just looking for a scapegoat in British Jews.

Stomacharmeleon · 23/11/2023 11:22

@etmoiandme now apparently to be known as a 'Susan' a white feminist who wraps up their antisemitism in a fetish for Islamic fundamentalism.

etmoiandme · 23/11/2023 11:30

@Stomacharmeleon Ha! You've been doing a sterling job btw. I actually saw a pretty good post yesterday which broke down the different types of (specifically white middle class) antisemites, but can't find it now.

"Fetish" is exactly right - but I think it describes other behaviour on the threads too.

Towerofsong · 23/11/2023 11:39

Stomacharmeleon · 23/11/2023 09:09

@Brumbies I am really tempted to go to that but I must confess a bit worried.

I'm going. I'm a bit nervous about the counter protesters who will be hanging around but I can't stay silent on this so I'm going to go. Might just have my phone videoing when going to the tube just in case.

Trulywonderful · 23/11/2023 11:41

They are just getting desperate now. Most mumsneters have blocked the conflict board from showing because the can't stand not being able to discuss things properly with all the derailment and attends to manipulate emotions

Most Jewish mumsneters are just sticking to antisemitism type threads or the few that you can almost have a conversation on. Else have blocked the conflict board.

This leaves the haters either stuck talking to themselves in their multiple echo chambers or having to look like a total fuckwit by plonking posts on threads not talking about the conflict. No wonder they are spying on Jewish posters and this board. They haven't got a way to vent their vile opinions of Jewish people without everyone knowing they are a racist fuckwit. I find it quite amusing really. That is why I have let them make their nests on certain threads and fuck up the conflict board. They have kettled themselves because they can't behave like decent human beings when they post. Desperate some trying a new tactic of sounding like a reasonable poster they are stuck with nobody that hasn't seen their fuckwit earlier posts, so new tactic is about 4 weeks to late.

Me too

etmoiandme · 23/11/2023 11:50

@Trulywonderful There's times I find it amusing too. Like the hasbara stuff absolutely ends me every time, and when they jump on the shirt-tails of the "Holocaust scholars", i.e. the good Jews. But it's getting too serious now and I'm finding it harder to see the funny side, the language is so bloody dangerous. It's like watching children being slowly radicalised - on a parenting site FFS.

Towerofsong · 23/11/2023 11:52

I also note that when it was the Ukraine war, there was one post, Part 1, Part 2 ..part 24 etc. easy to avoid for people who didn't want to get caught up in debate.

For this, there is a whole board and every time someone logs onto chat there are multiple new posts about it. And it's allowed to run.

I am all for free speech and I am fine with genuine and open factual debate, but would they have allowed posts to run that said the same about the Russian government and Russians that they do about the Israeli government and Jews?

SomeCatFromJapan · 23/11/2023 11:56

I would attend the march if I were closer, in solidarity. I'm more and more appalled at what I'm seeing and reading, both on that toxic little corner of MN and more widely.
I don't think there are many of them but yes it's a big problem having posts allowed to stand and that becoming normalised.

It's also a shame that there is nowhere to have an intelligent discussion about the conflict and its nuances. The Ukraine threads are a good example of that.
But most of the intelligent posters that actually had a clue about the region have long given up, understandably.

InvisibleDuck · 23/11/2023 12:38

Hope you don't mind me popping in - not Jewish, but very surprised by the mostly one-sided discussion going on elsewhere.

I feel like some people are latching onto 'hasbara' because it's an unfamiliar foreign word to them and they like thinking they've discovered some dark secret. If it got translated as 'international PR' or something there would be less fuss.

I made my first mention of my views under my own name today. Someone I know posted a rant about 'evil, genocidal' Israel instantly breaking the ceasefire agreement. It was baffling and I could only think that maybe they hadn't realised everything was postponed due to no hostages being released today (and Israel not even getting the list yet afaik!). So I politely clarified. No. This person thought Israel should uphold the original ceasefire plan regardless of if they're getting hostages back or not, and not starting it today makes the country 'evil'. Hamas not releasing any hostages apparently doesn't register as 'breaking the agreement' to them. Bizarre double standards.

Don't mind at all. Non-Jewish support means so much just now.

Yes, by persistently using the word Hasbara (which they only learned about 5 minutes ago) they're intentionally pushing a practice that all countries effectively employ into being something more sinister and akin to a conspiracy theory.

Humdingerydoo · 23/11/2023 13:01

It's not even just all countries that use hasbara - all companies and organisations do as well 😅 including Hamas! I tried pointing this out but was swiftly informed that I'm wrong and that the Israeli version is much worse because there are even people abroad being educated in how to do hasbara... Apparently ambassadors are a foreign concept to some people.

Oh stop with the facts, don't you see it's all part of the Zionist Project™

noblegiraffe · 23/11/2023 13:56

Can anyone direct me to the Zionist project please? Or perhaps the Israel supporters board? I seem to have taken a wrong turn.

💪 to you all, and don’t let the bastards get you down.

Peterpiperspickledpepper · 23/11/2023 14:06

Would like to attend the March too but sadly nowhere near me. If there was one in Manchester I’d definitely go.
You can’t troll hunt on MN but I’m seriously wondering who some of these posters on that board are. They must literally be spending hours on here, searching out multiple distressing links to post. And if you do respond to a post they are on it straight away.
I agree that as the days have progressed the posts have intensified, a certain normalisation has occurred in that more and more vitriolic hateful language is used. It’s like they are testing the water to see how far they can push it. Pretty despairing really.
