Mumsnet is getting worse

Seriously. Is it the same few people just name changing or is it really this toxic in the UK? There is so much poisonous Jewish hatred on here. I'm not talking hatred of Israel, just vile antisemitism on so many posts now.

I truly think I have to step away before I lose faith in humanity. Why does MN seem to attract so many hateful posters? Maybe it's the anonymity.

I can't keep calling it out. Im exhausted and actually deeply disturbed by it now.

Can anyone direct me to the Zionist project please? Or perhaps the Israel supporters board? I seem to have taken a wrong turn.

💪 to you all, and don’t let the bastards get you down.

Great quote, as Margaret Atwood put it (and I say this as an ally):

Nolite te bastardes carborundorum 💪🏻.

Stomacharmeleon · 23/11/2023 14:13

I am blardy exhausted.... :)

Would like to attend the March too but sadly nowhere near me. If there was one in Manchester I’d definitely go.
You can’t troll hunt on MN but I’m seriously wondering who some of these posters on that board are. They must literally be spending hours on here, searching out multiple distressing links to post. And if you do respond to a post they are on it straight away.
I agree that as the days have progressed the posts have intensified, a certain normalisation has occurred in that more and more vitriolic hateful language is used. It’s like they are testing the water to see how far they can push it. Pretty despairing really.

They are just desperate to spew such one sided hatred

Yup, definitely pushing it to see how far they can push the inflammatory language without it being actual full blown hate speech, fully in the knowledge that the behavioural pattern to the posting won't be looked at by MN. It's really taking my breath away now how bad it's got. But I think we lived through the more covert dress-rehearsal of antisemitism in the UK a few years ago (especially those of us on the left) and now it's full steam ahead, all masks off (or literally on, in some cases).

I won't be there on Sunday but I hope those that do make it find the day goes peacefully and that you also find comfort from it.

@Trulywonderful There's times I find it amusing too. Like the hasbara stuff absolutely ends me every time, and when they jump on the shirt-tails of the "Holocaust scholars", i.e. the good Jews. But it's getting too serious now and I'm finding it harder to see the funny side, the language is so bloody dangerous. It's like watching children being slowly radicalised - on a parenting site FFS.

Yes I get you

The funny side to me is that they have backed themselves in a corner of their own making and can't see that.

What they post I don't find funny at all. The fact that most the general population of the UK realised in 2021 that Zionist was just a replacement word for Jew to racists seems to have missed than for a start. Jumping on an small bit of negative news about Jewish people or Israel without actual finding out if true got very old quickly.

Mumsnet should have kicked at least 3 daily posting usernames out a couple of weeks ago. Some real incitement to violence and hate speech have been posted on here that should be handed to the police. Then the users could be charged. However not happened obviously. I think mumsnet could eventually find themselves in a scandal and legal situation if they don't watch out. It got a bot like that during covid but mumsnet seemed to moderate better then and definitely seemed more aware of their own legal obligations. Maybe they have completely different moderation team now.

About time you came over for a cup of tea on this board

After all you are now part of the Zionist project or something 🤔

Might let you play with the space laser and the mossad trained attack penguins too

EllaDisenchanted · 23/11/2023 15:07

@Trulywonderful I wouldn’t mind a go with those spacelasers too 😂

I keep going on the board and thinking about posting and then backing out. I can feel my heart racing from reading the aggression and hatred, and it just isn’t worth it to respond. feels a bit pointless, they aren’t going to listen anyway.

etmoiandme · 23/11/2023 15:10

Yes, this side of it I do find amusing.

I think my concern is that, do other people find these posters persuasive? Just casual onlookers to the boards, people that don't post? Because if onlookers are persuaded, then moderators may be too and more importantly, how's that being spread offline. Or do onlookers see through the sustained hatred, the goading, the obsession and the infantile arguments, which are often just downright lies. And the coded words and phrases for Jews - it's stomach turning the way they can get round it by 'oh I meant the Israeli Govt'. I mean, bien sûr Jan. To us the intentions of many of them are obvious - we hardly need educated on what antisemitism is, despite them telling us we do - but is it obvious to the ordinary Joe as well?

I personally don't find it hard to identify racism towards other minority groups so I just assume it's not that difficult to pinpoint hatred towards us. But maybe I'm wrong and there's just a real lack of understanding, and a lot of people buying into the nonsense that Jews in general are just "white functioning" pro-genocidal oppressors.

Don't do it, turn and run

The rest of us are mad to post on them

Save yourself

😂

Yes this!! @EllaDisenchanted

Trulywonderful · 23/11/2023 15:14

etmoiandme

I have faith that most the average posters can see the antisemitism most the time. These people users are not as smart or sly as they think they are

I have to have faith in the fact others can see most of what we can. I really do.

etmoiandme · 23/11/2023 15:17

@Trulywonderful Gosh I hope you're right. Deep down, I do think you are.

EllaDisenchanted · 23/11/2023 15:23

😅 might stay round here instead and join you with that cuppa tea. I live in Israel, and I’m orthodox, I think it would be open season if I posted 😬

etmoiandme · 23/11/2023 15:30

@EllaDisenchanted Welcome and pull up a chair. It's a lovely section here and @noblegiraffe will be along soon to assign you with your free Jez Corbyn annual.

etmoiandme · 23/11/2023 15:31

Actually just realised the annual was a different thread so that probably sounds very confusing!😂

😂

Trulywonderful · 23/11/2023 15:41

That is another good thread if people want to talk to similar minded posters

Plus I would love that one to get to 1000 posts before some of the other threads

😁

BeggyMitchell · 23/11/2023 15:47

Which one is that ?

Not that I'm experiencing FOMO or anything :)

EllaDisenchanted · 23/11/2023 15:47

Which thread is it?! And yeah was a bit baffled by the annual comment 😅

Stomacharmeleon · 23/11/2023 15:51

I never got my annual :/

25milesfromhome · 23/11/2023 15:59

@EllaDisenchanted I’m not sure all the self appointed experts on Israel and Jewish people could cope if you posted. Their delusional echo chamber is too fragile.

Stomacharmeleon · 23/11/2023 16:02

@Trulywonderful can probably recommend any number of threads for you.... :)

etmoiandme · 23/11/2023 16:04

It's the thread on JC/Piers Morgan - be aware you need to leave the relative safety of JMumsnetters and may require your hard hat because you'll be back in the lion's den, but the thread itself is for the most part good natured.

EllaDisenchanted · 23/11/2023 16:17

I saw the interview, well the crazy bit where jc was refusing to answer about hamas.

off to find the thread now…

@25milesfromhome nah they’d assume I’m a pro israel plant/bot/secret mossad agent/ part of the ‘hasbara’… We’re all in on it you know 🤨

noblegiraffe · 23/11/2023 16:46

Corbyn annuals for all!

Now where's that space laser?
